General War never changes

ATTENTION - READ FIRST
To begin with, I know that many, if not the majority, have an opinion that is contrary to mine, instead of speaking badly about the opinion of others, try to understand my point.

SUGGESTION
I would like to suggest an escape point for the war, I don't want to participate in this war because the war is well said in terms of lore, as a reassertion of power and control of the war companies using a scapegoat.

I have no intention of killing thargoids in any conflict (I know it's too easy and people who love to deny others will say "just don't participate");
Here are my reasons:

  • Thargoids never attacked humans unless they were threatened.
  • Thargoids do not attack non-combat ships.

All human actions to create this conflict were premeditated (There are bigger topics talking about this so I'll stick to just that):

  • The mass eradication weapon (mycoid/proteus).
  • The possible fraud in stations that thargoids attacked (some time ago) and recently in kingfisher (Taranis had not been through the system and there were survivors).
  • Most commanders are driven by money plus morality is dead (oh but it's just a game, gamerdesigners love it when someone says that)

COMMUNITY REQUEST
Is there no way to have a peaceful relationship with the Thargoids?
Are there any suggestions for people who don't want to participate, in addition to not participating.

Awaiting the hatred of the majority i wish the best for you.
o7 Cmdrs!

I am sure there will be some opening for these types of hidden quests to be found somewhere in this galaxy in turmoil. Part of the game is finding the hidden secrets yet to be discovered. And perhaps Fdevs will give hints and clues to any such riveting endeavors? I don't know.

Interesting though. Elite is getting deeper in lore and content.

But for me the Thargoid war, like PowerPlay, and Engineers to some extent, has always been something to avoid as far as is possible and practical: something that detracts from the game experience
The game offers a wide variety of activities. Some players don't like combat. Others think exploring deep space a big waste of time. On foot pew pew. Mining asteroids. Passenger runs. These and many more are activities are available to participate or focus on something else.

I'm not sure what your suggestion is. I read the OP several times and I don't get it. Do you simply want elements of the game you don't like removed? Asking for an "escape point for the war" does not mean anything to me. I do not understand. It is a video game and a hostile situation has been introduced which players can participate in. Please clarify what you are asking for.

Author of the topic here, I didn't answer before not out of disinterest but because I wanted more messages and healthy conversations here.
I have a great interest in the game and how the universe unfolds.
This call was for frontier to analyze the situation of some commanders who feel that it is a mistake (war, no matter what it is, is always a mistake).
In general, the commanders who are against this war are few and we know that against a multitude we will not win, only if we talk.

Thank you to everyone who politely replied to this message (thanks a lot), I will not reply to any messages, we are human and part of what makes us human is that we have different opinions and no one owns the absolute truth what's nice is that we can see everyone's thoughts when we talk and thinking about it we are a civilization of 3309 dialogue is the best solution!

o7 and again tnx!

Um, they attacked anyone with guardian relics unprovoked. Combat ship or not.

Also there was the very shady business of collecting escape pods.

Guardian technology has been linked to the Guardian monolith network, and the Constructs by proxy. Some CMDRs speculate that harvesting & utilizing Guardian tech runs the risk of waking up the long dormant Constructs.
Thargoids have predominately remained non-hostile unless provoked. The Proteus Wave rapidly escalated the Second Thargoid War into unforeseen territory. We were skirmishing with the Thargoids over petty stuff prior to this Invasion. Our repeated negligence in the Nebulae and in HIP 22460 has led to the death of billions of civilians whom had no stake in Thargoid related materials. The blood of many lies on the Superpower's greedy money grubbing hands.

Even before the Thargoid re-emerged, CMDRs were finding Thargoid Artifacts onboard Federal Convoys in the Pleiades all the way back in 3301.
Independent Pilots are retained through the Thargoid Menace narrative.

Fascinating how Etienne Dorn runs a shady business of collecting escape pods for years... nobody cares, but then the Thargoids are evil for doing so.
Did you know that INRA was kidnapping and slicing Thargoids open for years prior to this behavior being discovered? Chicken or the egg...

As far as it goes currently, for those who wish not to participate, the options are:

1) Avoid the areas by working around the (growing) hotspots in the bubble or completely take off into the black, which some have done.

2) Become a disruption to the war by siding with them in combat zones - although AFAIK Thargoids pay no heed to that type of action and seem indifferent to that type of action - this may be the change that you seek, however, before anything like that can really be part of the game, there has to be a way to communicate with the Thargoids and there's only one person in the galaxy that has shown to be able to do that to a degree, and I daresay has likely a greater role to play in the conflict as it continues. Also, intercepting and disrupting supply missions can be another option.

3) Run rescue/humanitarian missions as a matter of a humane response to the ongoing conflict.

Also, as far as not engaging goes, I do get that, and I tend to agree that the Thargoids have been provoked into this war. However, at this point the Thargoids are waging war by their own volition, and as a result of that the billions of innocent casualties that you lament are now being added to by the thousands at the tentacles of Thargoids unless they are pushed back or made to cease, and that means repelling Thargoid invasions by the only means that work, and that's supporting the war effort against the Thargoids themselves, either by combat or supportive supply missions.

3) Run rescue/humanitarian missions as a matter of a humane response to the ongoing conflict.

That has largely been our biggest motivator, but it feels rather demotivating since the Population is not impacted by rescue operations. Anti-xeno efforts yield higher results, though that leads credence to your argument about Xeno Defense. I'm still debating whether or not we should even consider participating in Defense, when we could prioritize our efforts towards Inter-species Diplomacy and Communications Research. Someone has to do it, right?

Gameplay wise we don't really have anything in that regard, but if enough advocates speak out about it we could see some changes in-game in the future.

Many Peace Advocates fear that further escalation will result in the Maelstroms reacting with a counter-offensive, which would inevitably destroy the Bubble and our reality as a whole. Despite this, I still believe you are correct to a degree.
Those who continue to hunt Thargoids in the Nebulae are responsible for creating yet another front for us to fight on, and are responsible for provoking further hostilities beyond the Proteus Wave.

Ethically, we shouldn't celebrate the death of another sentient species or try to justify genocide of any kind, though I'm sure you weren't in favor of that choice either based on what you've said.

Here are some idea's I have cooked up over the last few months...
  • Thargoid Language & Communication
    • What does Ms Seo hear, and can we try to hear it too?
      • She could be the one to spearhead the research alongside the Thargoid Advocacy Project.
      • She can understand the Thargoids. Not metaphorically, or rhetorically. Straight up she understands. Prime candidate in my opinion.

  • The Inter-species Transmitter - could eventually be created..
    • Allows CMDRs to “talk back” to the Thargoids.
    • Ishmael Palin would be a prime candidate to spearhead the development
    • Similar to the Discovery Scanner, but with four ‘chambers’.
      • The ‘chambers’ would be four bindable actions organised like the Multi-limpet controller fire groups.
      • Each action would be oriented towards the desired sound.
      • Spamming the sounds will trigger hostile reactions.. Don’t annoy them!
        • 1 - “Hello!”
          • When greeting a Thargoid. Could be utilised to avoid an EMP after a non-hostile hyperdiction.
        • 2 - “Sorry”
          • Communicates intention in case you trigger a hostile reaction, either by approaching too close or bumping into the Thargoid.
        • 3 - “Goodbye!”
          • Departing sound for when you are about to leave a Thargoid. Used primarily before departing mid-scan.
        • 4 - “Help!”
          • If under attack & allied with a non-hostile Interceptor nearby, they will provide assistance.

  • The Inter-species Translator - could be created, or may already exist..
    • Ishmael Palin would be a prime candidate to spearhead the development.
    • Could we somehow force him to share those secrets? Once it hits the public market, not much can stop it..

  • Inter-species Sigils:
Much like the ones found on Thargod Interceptors, new sigils could eventually be created to distinguish CMDRs who support peace from those who do not.

  • Long-term Trust Building Activities
    • Thargoid Reputation;
      • Positive impact through Meta-Alloy / Artefact Donations, Inter-species missions, etc.
      • Negative impact through Anti-xeno Conflict, Invasive Research, Artefact Destruction, etc.
      • Traceable through Journal Files preferably, so that Inara may utilize the data
      • Only visible to the CMDR when nearby a Thargoid Interceptor.
        • Applicable when piloting Human ships (more on that later)

  • Expanded Thargoid Reaction to Artefact Donations:
    • Multi-faceted reactions to Thargoid donations; Examples include:
      • If a massive quantity of Meta-Alloys are delivered, the Thargoid in question could continuously call other Interceptors instead of the default two.
        • This was how the behavior originally worked before AX pilots exploited it. I believe it can be brought back without this exploit.
        • If hostility is detected, all lower-class Interceptors would flee, leaving only a few Interceptors around to deal with the AX Exploiter.
      • Destruction of Donation materials should only result in hostility if the CMDR was responsible.
        • Incidents have been reported where Thargoids kill Pro-xeno advocates after they accidentally destroy the donation material whilst flying around. This makes no sense.

  • Thargoid Scout behavior accurately reflects CMDR’s stance (AX or PX)
    • Solely based on reputation tracking, but would be subtly rewarding for those who abstain from xeno conflict.

  • Inter-species Missions:
    • These could eventually be provided by the Thargoids if your reputation exceeds an allied status.
    • After encountering an allied Interceptor, they honk a mysterious tone at you which is picked up by your Inter-species translator module.
      • Once the signal and abnormal sounds are fully decrypted, a message is displayed in your comms menu with scattered details on the mission in question.
    • Rewards from the Thargoids could be delivered based on the amount of missions completed, rather than individual mission rewards to avoid excessive completion.
      • Thargoid engineering materials & new Inter-species tech.
    • Examples Include:
      • Ammonia World Probing:
        • After encountering an allied Interceptor, a message is displayed in your comms menu with scattered details on an Ammonia world either nearby or in the system of origin.
        • A button prompt would be at the bottom to accept the request, and you would be required to transport a Thargoid Probe to drop off in orbit around the planet.
        • You’d have little time to accept before the Interceptor departs, but if you do, a Probe would be ejected for you to collect. Collector Limpets are extremely important.
        • If you destroy the Thargoid Probe on accident whilst the Interceptor is nearby, the interaction will seriously impact your reputation.
        • Once the mission is complete, you would have raised your reputation by a considerable amount.
      • Anti-xeno Conflict Assistance:
        • After encountering an allied Hydra Interceptor, a message pops up in your Comms menu which requests assistance in the system of origin, in a nearby AXCZ.
        • You’ll have little time to accept the request before the Interceptor departs, but if you do, special permission will be granted to fight on behalf of the Thargoids in the desired Conflict zone.
        • The Hydra would conduct a second scan, which would ‘seed’ your ship with the necessary mark required to fly alongside the Thargoids.
        • Upon arriving in the instance, you will be tasked with eliminating Anti-xeno ships. For each kill you acquire, a massive boost will be pushed towards your reputation.
        • If the AXCZ fails for Thargoids, it will sink your reputation by a significant amount to off-set for the ship kills. It wi
        • If the AXCZ wins for Thargoids, it will rapidly boost your reputation by a significant amount.
        • No matter if you win or lose, It will immediately decrease your reputation with the opposing Human faction & superpower by an absurd amount.

Have some more ideas to share about Thargoid-Human related rewards, which would be similar to the current set-up for Federal Corvettes & Imperial Cutters + other stuff.
  • Earning Reputation with the Thargoids over-time will eventually enable you to unlock certain hybrid ships, or even full-blown warships towards the end to pay homage to Frontier: First Encounters.
  • Human-Thargoid Contact could be brokered through Seo Jin-ae. Many people claim it's impossible due to what happened to the Guardians, but I believe Seo has a more personal story. Most subjects in Project Seraph perished because the Thargoid Vessel rejected them. Ms Seo, for unknown reasons, was accepted by the vessel which is why she is the sole survivor. At-least that is my understanding of the story.
  • A lot of my pro-xeno friends, including myself, are extremely interested in the idea of having a Thargoid Fighter Pilot. Either a team of Interceptors (overkill) or some sort of Thargoid Biological Fighter (which is piloted by a Thargoid) would be extremely interesting. This obviously can't happened anytime soon, unless you split the hives into friendly & hostile portions.
  • Split the Thargoid Hives into Friendly / Hostile portions, as mentioned in older lore. It has widely been ignored and I'm still not sure if Drew Wagar's work is retconned or not... can't find a source. That needs to be brought back because it would enable both Pro-xeno and Anti-xeno pilots to co-exist. It would also enable pro-xeno pilots to engage in Anti-xeno related game mechanics without disrupting their character's story or RP experience. It could even be expanded into having Thargoids fight other Thargoids... imagine joining up in a fight with Friendly Oresrian Thargoids against a massive group of Hostile Klaxxian Thargoids. Nobody wants Inter-species peace to take away anyone's experience.

You might have more success if you looked for things YOU could do, that haven't been done before. People have been feeding goids for years, for example, and nothing has ever come of it, so while it might not be useless at some point in the future, it's clear that's not ALL that needs to take place.

Also, jumping straight to ships is a pretty big leap. Let alone friendly maelstroms. Maybe start with thargoid optional modules?

My apologies for the lack of clarification. That was posted above, it's a timeline of ideas stringing from first contact to co-existence rewards.

Unfortunately I've done everything I can physically come up with. Massive MA Donations, attempting to gauge interactions with the Mysterious Idol commodity, comparing interactions between Nebulae, cataloging and gauging Interceptor scan sound discrepancies, identifying abnormal pink hues between Non-Hostile Interceptors in both Coalsack and California. Thargoid Sigil glyph tracking & analysis. We've visited Thargoid Surface Sites for testing including opening the Galaxy Map & Converting Relics, even bringing those "unknown signals" recovered from opening the map to Interceptors to test their reaction. Nothing. The only thing we've been able to discern is that Non-Hostile Thargoids only attack those who provoke the encounter. The Invasion Thargoids behave much differently to the Thargoids we've known for years... which strikes me as odd. Speculation points towards a hive split later towards April, we believe this could be included in the Key Feature Overhaul that is coming.... not sure though.

We also discovered that when the Scouts arrived in 3304, the inner-most symbol was rotated, indicating a change in hive or direction. The scout is predominately hostile which fits lore-wise with the glyph change itself.

It feels like the ball is in Frontier's court in regards to Inter-species diplomacy, though we could be missing something... the search remains active.

It's a risk either way, with no clear path forward. It could possibly be another attribute to the fog of war.

You are correct, though I have to mention that I never suggested celebrating. At some point though it just becomes a matter of survival, doesn't it? I mean, I can be 100% furious and completely opposed at whatever entity got us in this mess but I do not wish to see humanity wiped out and personally also want to come out of the other side alive - so if I'm under attack by Thargoids, what do you do? And if other innocents are under attack, is it ethical to just withdraw and stand by? I'm not saying I have the answers but it's a dilemma everyone has to ponder...
