Modes WARNING: A new type of trolling.... (MOVING TO MOBIUS)

OP, like many people said, it's nothing new. If anything, it was one of the first trolling techniques invented by players of questionable morals.

And it is exactly this case that caused the speed limit to be introduced. If you are not speeding, nothing can happen to you. You ignored this information so many times, in this thread that I get the feeling that it's you who is actually trolling.

Look at it from the real life law perspective. There was an accident. One of the ships was speeding (in other words breaking the law), the other was not. No matter, who "caused it", which one of those two do you think is going to be punished for it?
So yes, you were trolled and it's a really lowly move. But you were speeding. If the commander who rammed you was here, they could say they did it on purpose to teach you not to break the law near stations.

It's a video game with space ships in it, so real life doesn't apply.

But just for fun how would a space station with traffic controllers and big- guns react to a pilot who repeatedly deliberately rammed other ships because he thought they were speeding?.

Your tone absolutely blows mate. The problem here is that this player was blocking / hiding in the only way into the mail slot and repeated it twice within a matter of minutes. It's not crying out unfair gameplay because I was beaten in combat twice in a row, or combat logged or whatever. It's because I was half way through the mail slot - the only way to dock! Then going out too! It's a post about a very obvious gameplay mechanic troll not a post about throwing toys out the pram. So please, dial it down kid.

No, the OP is saying what the hell do you do about gameplay trolls?

You dont 'hide' in Elite. When you arrive at a station, you cycle through the players on your radar. If there are too many for you to keep a clear overview, you should slow down on general principe. It really is that simple. There is no real reason to go above 100m/s, so only do it when you know its safe. When you dont, slow down. If you dont, you risk your ship. If you lose it blame yourself and learn from it.

Oh, dont go complaining about other people's tone while you call them 'kid', mate.

I was expecting it to get dumped into the PVP subforum, the modes one makes sense as well I suppose.

I didnt even know we had this forum?

Going by this video just posted (the thread is now in the PvP sub-folder, the target can be stationary and the griefer can still get away with ramming, speeding inside the station wasn't a factor.

Sorry OP. The trick that worked on you is nothing new, and the speed limit exists for a reason.

I'm also sorry that your response is to run away to Mobius. It's such a simple matter to just keep your speed down.

Ahahahahaha!

About an hour ago, I travelled to The Oracle to dock there, and as I was casually strolling, and whistling idly, into the starport at a relaxing 95 m/s, what must have been the same Yahoo boosted into my Dropship at a fair rate of knots with some small ship of theirs.

All I knew of it was, I saw a blur, I heard a light tap against my hull, and then a muffled explosion.

I carried on strolling into the station. And LOL'ed. :)

OP, this is basically a form of PvP, in a way. So that's 1-NIL to me so far :D

Kill your speed, not your credit balance.

I like at it like an educational service: don't break the law, kids, or you will be punished.

What's your excuse for being an apologist to criminals and various maladjusted reprobates?

Wow, talk about twisting my statement, I didn't think I was being an apologist for a little piece of fecal matter ramming people with the intent of getting them killed because he needs to inflict his misery on others.

Oh, what, that isn't what you meant? Ah, yeah, right. You're spouting nonsense about the person being blameless because his victim was speeding. Right, you want to hold the OP accountable for his actions while holding your buddy, or was that you, guiltless.

In regard to punishment, you have to be in a position of authority to discipline, so, no, not punishment.

The victim in this scenario is no doubt some poor noob who couldn't figure out how to reboot his systems and was in what he thought was the pause menu trying to figure his controls out when some cowboy steamrolled him hotshotting into the mailbox. A few minutes later, after being confused about how/why he was destroyed while the game was paused, he was trying to exit the station (again) and probably bounced off of the station bulkhead and knocked out his shields once again...so, being a noob, he hits pause and goes back into options trying to figure out what he's doing wrong when BLAMMO! here comes CMDR Hotrod to run him over again

See the quote above yours to shed light on my position:)

One good thing that came from this thread is that I never even knew that their was a "Modes of Elite" subforum. Similar to all the other other subforums, though, is the fact that this is where conversations go to die. I mean, in Dangerous Discussion it was thriving. It gets shunted off to Limbo and quietly runs out of oxygen.
