Horizons Warning, your frameshift drive is operating beyond normal tollerences?

I have been in the process of acquiring the Sirius permit by doing missions etc for Sirius corp at Cormack Hub and Davy Dock in the Procyon system. Every time I approach Cormack Hub I get this warning, "Warning, your frameshift drive is operating beyond normal tolerances?." It is a binary system and the sun where you enter the Procyon system is an F type but the other star which the main planets orbit is a Y type, one of those with the blue light thingie which I already know affects the FSD somehow but Cormack Hub is 11,000ls away and Davy is closer to the sun but I only get the warning at Cormack. Can someone point me to an explanation of this phenomenon or is it a bug?.

known bug that has been reported many times, and has happened to dozens doing Sirius permit. Still doing it ? Still no fix? :eek:
 
It's not a bug, it's a hidden feature. You can supercharge your FSD. You will get that warning, when you enter the jetstreams of a Pulsar or a white dwarf. You have to remain a while in it to supercharge your FSD. Pulsars supercharge your FSD to 300% jump range and white dwarves add 50%.
 
I encountered that one today for the first time, also around Sirius, and audio went a bit bonkers generally. Started to play loud out of place samples when I exited SC. Of course didn't do it while I was trying to record it, the second I stopped XSplit it started again. I tell you, it's aliens.

For the record, White Dwarfs charge your FSD 25% more.* Neutron stars charge your FSD by 400%.

So if your max FSD range is currently 30 lyrs, you would gain a temporary boost to 42 lyrs with a white dwarf, and 120 lyrs with a neutron star.

As white dwarfs are such a pain if you enter their cone of influence, and they give such a relatively small boost, they are best avoided. They can be deadly. Neutron stars are a better option - they are easier to escape from and give a fantastic boost.

The OP's case appears to be nothing to do with either kind of star, as he was probably not close enough.

*EDIT - I've seen some posts suggesting the white dwarf boost might be increased to as much as 100% so I have to admit I haven't tried one recently (I steer clear of them !)

It has nothing to do with supercharging as it happens in deep space. And pulsar? Where? :D
 
If anyone gets a boost from white dwarfs, I'd love to know what the boost is now. They may have been improved at the end of last year, but most people have kept clear of them so we don't know !

White Dwarf boosts have not increased yet, so best to not waste time with them. On other topic, the message in Sirius is out of whack, it plays in deep space while traveling toward Quents base, usually while 8000 or so ls from the white dwarf star. Shouldn't play that far out since the cone or tails of the dwarf are not that large. Wouldn't surprise me if this happens in other systems as well.

Supercharging has no pre-requisite on you being in deep space. Quite the opposite you have to be close to a sun of the correct type of star class. Regarding your second question, I think you can adjust your filters in the Galaxy map to only search for certain star classes. Pulsars would be under the non-sequence star class, I haven't found any pulsars in the inhabited bubble yet, but I found some white dwarves.

@Lightspeed: The increase in extra range wasn't worth the effort tbh... On the other hand Sirius B is a good place to test/practice the supercharging trick.

He didn't say Supercharging happens in deep space. What happens is that the Frameshift operating beyond normal capacity happens while still in deep space when you are nowhere near the white dwarf, let alone the superluminal cone.

FWIW I've also had this, I just assumed I was close enough to the path of particles from the cone for it to begin impacting the drive even though I was quite a way out.

I've actually no idea till what range you can still feel the influence of the jets of white dwarves or pulsars. Did you ever try stopping when it occurs to see whether you will also get supercharged over time?

Afraid not. I suspect it wouldn't work that far out as you have to be in the matter stream proper to get the full effect. It may well be a bug, but my in-universe explanation means it doesn't necessarily ruin my game. On the other hand, the broken landing audio needs fixing as currently it beaks my immersion.

t is not happening just in Sirius, I am seeing it randomly happening in other systems too, especially when doing long in-system run's in supercruise.

Hm, now that you guys mention it - I did get the exact same during my last Engineer Trip in Sirius when I was back in the Bubble.

Back then, I deemed it a System Map-related bug, as I got the Message exactly in the moment I left the System Map again (and I was looking at the B Star/Dwarf I believe).

I did quickly check it by a 180deg turn, but that didn't reproduce it...
