Be optimistic man, maybe they'll all be as attractive as the Japanese ones you ... well, whatever you do with them
Not even kidding, I quite like the fact that most of Elite's NPCs look like they've got space face, some sort of radiation-induced collagen destruction, fetal onionhead syndrome, the generational effects of small colonial gene pools, and sometimes have even had a terrible accident in a pantomime dressing room.
I know I'm probably the only one, but I'm kind of over everyone in games looking like a supermodel. It's facile and I hate feeling pandered to. I don't like when developers treat me like some shallow, tragic sadcase who needs manufactured attraction towards a non-existent NPC to engage. I DO like the grimy, sweaty, seedy vibe when the characters all look a bit grubby and weird, like in the Alien films. Lots of those folk were your standard plain- or weird-looking working class shmoes. There's something about that that really helps build a sense of gritty reality so much better.
I would like to see some of the face-generation stuff rationalised a bit to tone down some of the more egregious aspects, where it enters the comical, like skin/eye/hair colour being all over the place, but if all the mission-givers are suddenly Botoxed, chiselled, baby-face cuties, I'd not be a happy camper.
