Post your progress here on the last weekend of every month. Pics please!

Upcoming dates:

Jan 24-25
Feb 29-1
Mar 28-29
Apr 25-26

Let's see where we are by then!

Edit: some quick FAQs:

Q What does 'finished' mean?
A Entirely up to you. Like painting a picture, you can always add more, but you decide when it's finished. Maybe you want to fill a perimeter, maybe you want a certain list of animals, maybe you will just go by instinct. We are not here to judge, only to support each other achieve our own goals. Each finished zoo will be unique!

Q Can I join with a sandbox / franchise / challenge zoo?
A There are no rules here. You do you.
^ this is probably also the answer to any other FAQs, but I'll add more here if anything else comes up!

Q Can I join if my zoo is already in progress or do I have to start from scratch?
A Please join with any zoo in any state. It can be a half-completed zoo, an old zoo that you want to revisit and improve, or something new from scratch. It's your own goal and your own achievement to pursue. Again, no rules here, you do you :)

I'll join, been on a break from Planet Zoo for several months now but I've felt an itch to come back with the pz2 announcement. Hoping this gives me some motivation! 😤
Thinking about taking a break from the Australia area I was working on cuz the complicated building burnt me out ngl, wondering if I should start on Reptiles next...

I'll join :) In what mode? Is any mode ok? Franchise, challenge, sandbox?
yes :) oh wait, I don't play challenge - are those zoos already half done? I think franchise or sandbox if so, or whatever you start yourself from scratch (you can have already started it though)

There aren't really any rules for this group, it's for mutual motivation for our own projects - a bunch of us realised we had never actually finished a zoo, that's how this started!

Yeah thinking again you can decide for yourself, if you have a challenge zoo that you're trying to complete I don't see why that can't be as good a goal as any :)
Good Q thank you - I've added an edit to the top of the thread for anyone else who is wondering this.

Challenge is the offline franchise mode, and Career is the half finished zoo stuff. Though I think you can open Career zoos in sandbox mode or challenge mode? Not sure.
But thank you for the explanation! So anything is possible.

Ok, I started a franchise zoo :) I recently bought a new laptop to play planet zoo smoothly with large zoos, and after a few hiccups now it's going well. But I have never ever finished a zoo. Previously that was due to my limited laptop though... so now it should be possible! Looking forward to sharing my progress at the end of the month :)

Okay, I’m finally gonna do it! I’ll finally finish a zoo! I don’t know if I will be able to play this week (busy with clinics, gonna leave for externship, my girlfriend and I will be apart for awhile so we are spending extra time together) but over break I will hopefully chip away at it!

Like all of my zoos my gaming laptop can only handle some small builds, so this would be a small zoo. I’m basing it off of the Central Park Zoo, but with even less habitats because that’s what my poor PC can handle.

Here is a very rough draft of what I would like it to look like:

Right now here would be my species list:
  1. Gray seal
  2. Reindeer
  3. Amur leopard
  4. Coyote new addition
  5. Little blue penguin
  6. African penguin
  7. King penguin
  8. Alpaca
  9. Peafowl
  10. Sussex chicken
  11. American donkey
  12. Highland cattle new addition
  13. Tamworth sheep
  14. African spurred tortoise
  15. Saki monkey
  16. American flamingo
  17. Curriers dwarf caiman
  18. Snow monkeys
  19. Red crowned crane
  20. Mute swan
  21. Prairie dogs new addition
  22. Whatever exhibit animals and butterflies I can fit into my zoo
The theme would be a mix of the classic theme, with some new world, conservation, and a handful of other props here or there. My plan is the zoo will have some elevation to it as well, with the reindeer and Leopard being higher up in a “mountain forest path”. I am planning to make a central keeper building, and letting almost every animal have some back stage area. The main thing is I am planning for this to be a zoo that’s open all year round, even in cold weather.

I haven’t played PZ in a long time now (months) but this is the excuse I could use to get back to it! I’m gonna be building on sandbox mode, mostly to save PC power and remove guests lol.

Honestly if I can I might also throw the coyote in there too. Probably between the reindeer and leopard. I would also love to make some sort of educational museum, but that might add more strain on my PC.

TBH I really hope PZ2 adds more educational stuff. It gets annoying to have to constantly build my own every time.
