We need a flying planetary exploration vehicle

What about a small flying planetary exploration vehicle as an option instead of a fighter, for ships that are capable of equipping a fighter bay? It should be able to fly no higher than a few kilometers, have limited speed, and increased cargo capacity over the SRV, but still be able to interact with POIs just like the SRV.

This could be likened to research vessels that carry a helicopter in the real world.

Kind of. I was thinking of something a little bigger - something that can carry some cargo, and maybe even be fitted with modules. It would be great to mine on planet surfaces.

I was thinking more like a small expeditionary vehicle.

It is more likely that FDev may consider a recon vehicle in a flying capacity. Something like you describe, only with no cargo and the ability to scan POIs. Flying vehicle with increased cargo may be a little unbalanced. I feel they would make another SRV with increased cargo capacity soon.
