Newcomer / Intro Weapon Colors

Heya Commanders,
Just a question about up14. Is anyone else seeing no color effects with ground vehicle weapon systems? I'm not seeing the trace of shots, just muzzle flash and impact on target.
Ship color tracing seems fine but not ground vehicles.
Bug of not?

Ummm, well my Scarab lasers are supposed to be purple. But I just checked all skins show color, engines show, weapons for ships and fighters, and the scorpion show correct. The Sarab skin shows correct, but turret weapon doesn't show color trace.

Can anyone verify this with your Scarabs turret lasers.

Update 14 SRV fire is weapon colour invisible. ;)

I think there is an issue tracker for it but I am not of a mind to delve into that cesspit today. EDIT see post #6 below

Apparently 'no weapon effect' was too hard to understand? How do you color nothing? This is getting way too zen for me. :p

Maybe you are making a joke but the fact is that the colour of the weapon fire on the SRV is missing - in fact there is no visible SRV weapon fire at all now in U14.

The wording seems to confuse even those filing issues on the tracker. Happily there is one that can be voted on:




 
There's no weapon effect so colors don't even matter.
there where weapon colour effects up till update 14.
i think irl they call them incendiary or "tracer" rounds...
but yeah, of the 5 colours i have in my inventory... they used to all leave little trails behind them of the colour i chose, now they do not.
why would they let us select a colour in the livery if it made zero difference?

yes ive noticed the same thing, was going to submit a tracker issue but its up already. have you visited to upvote it so fdev actually sees it?

I'm pointing out the problem is the weapon effect is missing. We can't tell if the cosmetics work if the thing they are attached to is not visible! C'mon people, it's not that hard to understand! How do you know you got the right paint job on an invisible car? We're going into vaudeville era jokes now! I'm sure Maxwell Smart used that one! 😂

This is very true.
It has been working from day one when color livery was introduced when I paid real money for it. Yes, guilty for playing Elite from day one. You would expect it to work as I did up until 14. Funny thing is what the heck does a color cosmetic have ANYTHING to do with fixes or patches though all ships and even the Scorpion are fine as it's just the Scarabs turret weapon. /shrug/
Frontier, how the heck did you screw that up? Color schemes had nothing to do with 14 fixes. SO why or how did you manage to break it for just one vehicle? LOL
Oh, and yes, I did follow up with a ticket so Frontier should know about it, I hope. /crossing fingers/
I know it's just a color cosmetic, but it has always been just a nice touch for the game.

So I'm shooting at towers and sentries at a Guardian site in a Scarab.
I see the hits like a machine gun but no tracers or colors.

Worse, the Scarab wouldn't shoot down an artifact relic. On foot it took two shots with an Executioner.
Checking this on Google I find that this is also a known issue. I wasted some premium ammo on this.

In the past an update nerfed the wave scanner. I wonder if it works.

As a note shooting sentries with beams from your ship flying overhead. They will fly up you now where
before they would stay close to the ground.

I just love updates with all the challenges at no extra charge.

Wavescanner is working fine.

BTW I checked in both turret and cabin views in a Scarab and there is no "in flight" graphic, no matter which colour weapon effect is selected (even cyan) - there are muzzle flashes in turret view and impact effect when target is hit. I have checked this in Odyssey and Horizons (4.01) and no colour weapon effects in either.

Changes to content are always welcome, but NOT at the expense of breaking things in the process. For some reason when Frontier adds one thing it screws up 10. Seriously, it's clockwork with them and Frontier currently has not only a perfect clock but a perfect record at doing this... Go figure.! You think a company would learn the 1st time, or 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th, or well you know what I'm getting at. LOL
Personally, I would just be fine if they would just stop screwing with the game period. It's killing the player base and their reputation despite what numbers show. Sadly put, I know, I know, I was once 100% committed to Frontier and all of their titles. Loved them all until the "Odyssey Massacre" and now I'm seeing a pattern with current and older tiles.
Elite is not the Flagship to them anymore. With all of the things that have fallen apart Elite will die here soon. They have a company to run but Elite IS still here, right... :)

Anyways, thank you all for helping spot things to help them fix but mostly sticking around to keep a player base of some kind... o7 Commanders, keep flying.
 
well we all must have known it wouldnt last forever.
generally when they introduce new content, yeah there are bugs.
historically fdev has done a pretty good job of clearing them bugs up tho, from what ive seen.
sure there are some that have been there forever.
all games have bugs tho, and imagine if bethesda was working on this instead lol.
perhaps the goal for them IS to drive the old crew away and attract more general appeal players.
but we all should have known from day one the game would not last forever. one day all servers get shut down.
yes there are 1 or 2 games that have been going strong forever... but they are the exception that prove the rule.
