worked for me here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/login/New forum is pure cancer. Unable to login with firefox.
Thanks , this works for me alsoworked for me here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/login/
When in doubt, go with the standard - black text on a white background. Search engines use this, news sites use this, blogs use this. The forums are for reading and writing text, not for simulating the cockpit of our spaceship.
I was confused ppl talking about login with store credentials only.
Now I got the same experience on another computer. Acutally all the standard login items linked to the store login. Only when using the reply button w/o login I got the std forum login using my other ID. Link is here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/login/
Is this intentional by FrontierDev? Then it's utterly crap.
So request is to fix this asap. No way I ever will use my payment login for a forum!
My guess is they picked the package that they thought best for mobile devices.
You remember correctly. For example, Brett C said shortly before the migration:I seem to remember being told we could log in with either our forum username and it’s password or using our store email address and it’s password.
… then, while the forums were offline, went in and changed “optional” to “needed”. How sneaky, BrettUser details from our two forums all persist to the XenForo install, linking your forums account to the FrontierStore account system is optional.![]()
Not to be a negative Ned, but I’m not so keen on the new forums. They seem harder to navigate, do not read as smoothly, and I won’t even go into how little fun it was trying to get logged back in... but that said, they do seem to load faster, especially on my phone, and so far haven’t shown any of the odd quirks the old one did, so there is that. I also see they still haven’t added the Mine Salt button. ;-)
On the other hand, this site is way more demanding on my processor. This site apparently uses a lot of javascript. It causing the fan on my laptop to spin up (due to heat). When I noticed this I tested to make sure it's this site using CPU, and it is - close to 50% on a dual-core system. That's likely one core saturated. And all I am doing is just typing this post!
Frontier, are you running Bitcoin mining software in our browsers?
I'd be curious what this site does to mobile devices - it might be a battery killer.
Well, that explains why my iPad went from 50% charge to 10% in the space of a couple of hours whilst I had the forum open in a tab. What with tracking cookies and the like, it seems like logging out after a brief session is the order of the day if on a battery operated device.
Here you go:Is there a facepalm in this new collection of "smiles"?
