Were hardpoints nerfed for release?

Just a general question on this, the reason being that I have been trying to work out the best loadout for my Viper and most of the guides have been telling me to get C4 weapons (of one sort or other) for the underside and C2 weapons for the top.
But my Viper only allows C1 on top and C2 on bottom.

I'm currently running 2x C1 Beams // 2x C2 Multicannons which seem to work fairly well. I'm not so good with the single shot cannon as I seem to splunk my ammo a little too quickly at times and I suck with the fixed version! Heh! (Yeah, practice, practice.... but the gimballed makes life so much easier! :O )

I'm interested to get other people's opinions on loadouts that work for them and in particular why.

I am also intrigued as to whether it's worth looking to take a Rail Gun or not. Are they all they are cracked up to be? I tried one out some time ago on a little Sidey, but again, the fixed version was so slow to fire, I almost always missed! ^_^
And what about missiles? Are they any good in comparison to running the multicannon or Rail gun?

Ah right. I never played before the release (due to financial requirements), so am intrigued by the rare weapons. What were they? I assume they must have been good? :)
Are there plans to bring them back at all?

Weapons were classed differently earlier.
I think Beams and Mcannon is a pretty common and effective combination. Seekers are pretty useful for blowing up Vipers and smaller, but don't really deal that much damage to anything larger.

I beta the hardpoints were classed differently, Small was class 2, medium class 4. The fixed weapons took even numbers but gimballed took the hardpoint number -1, i.e. a medium hardpoint gimballed weapon was class 3 but needed at least a class 4 slot to put it in. I think this was meant to reflect the damage reduction from switching from a fixed weapon to gimballed.

Rare weapons, such as overcharged et.c seem to have been removed, I'd love to see them back though *flutters eyelashes at the devs* ;)

Ahhh ok, that makes a bit more sense then.
Thanks for the info - very interesting! And the bit about the overcharged weapons, I read someone writing about how amazing they were and then got frustrated because I couldn't find them anywhere in any system.
I should have just asked here first and saved myself the hassle! Lol!
