What 2020 Update "Red Flags" would concern you?

Specifically business practices. I don't think most people have problems with selling paintjobs and cosmetics, other than the price hike when ARX was introduced. This isn't an ARX post though.

The question is, what design/monetization decisions, if any, are you worried about or would concern you if added? If leaks are to be believed, there may be a huge amount of new cosmetics added to the game.
I really can't think of any red flags. I expect it to be no different to what we have now. Buy cosmetics if you want to. Nothing to worry about.

Also what price hike for cosmetics? I get them cheaper then ever these days. All my purchases are subsidised by free Arx which makes them somewhat cheaper then before.

Hmm. Frontier announcing a "Battle Royale" mode. That would do it for me. :D
If, like CQC/Arena, it was completely separate from the game then I'd have no issue (other than wondering why Dev time was spent on a feature quite so disparate from the game).

Frontier's stance has been pretty clear for a long time now - augment game revenue through the sale of optional cosmetics - nothing that affects gameplay (e.g. ships, materials, credits, etc.) for sale in the store. I'm glad they took that path.

I personally think its ridiculous and super entitled to expect a game to have continous development for years for such a small initial buy in price.

I couldn't disagree with you more. There are a good number of people who purchased Lifetime Expansion Passes who have already paid in advance for that continuous development. Will it end at some point, of course it will, do I think FDev have met their obligations to that set of customers yet, of course not. To suggest it's ridiculous for those customers to expect continuous development is in itself ridiculous. Are there some entitled customersout there? Yes, there is and they are entitled to exactly what they paid for. If FDev didn't want people to think they would continue to work on this game post release they should not have indicated they would throughout the kickstarter campaign and post release as well.

If the LEP was available back then I would have bought one. If it was available today I would buy one. When content comes it comes.

yes? i sure hope so. the game lacks good cosmetics. i mean, look at the holo me. it's basically one re-skinned outfit. that's actually what i don't like. there's one unique outfit with some color variants. but cost wise they're handled like every skin is a unique model. i'd rather make it so that unique models is like ~5k arx and color variants for each unique model only a couple hundred arx. or better, each unique model comes with a couple of color variants.

but other than that i don't see any issues.

Maybe he meant that stars started vanishing from the galactic rim and in the end everyone would be crammed into SagA*.

To be honest, nothing the Game does in the next months concerns me anymore.

Looking around the globe, my assessment is that we have much (!) bigger problems to be concerned about than a Computer Game.

But flying to Hutton is the perfect way to pass time in quarantine.

Sorry for offtopic OP, but did they tell the reasoning behind dropping VR support?

The topic has been discussed at length in the VR forums. VR support went from a headline USP to the step child of development a long time ago, including no mentioning at least on the Elite website anymore. Fears are that FD will drop that feature at last with the introduction of planetary stuff and such. FD never positively said they will drop it altogether, but then, they also never confirmed it will stay. So the uncertainty remains. If they do, it will be a Red Flag for me at least.

What FD positively confirmed recently is that they will not support new headsets beyond the current platforms, which are Oculus and Vive "at the time being" which may likely be translated to "never". It may just be "phased out" as was Mac support, and a relaunch would be a fitting occasion to get rid of it. But all hope is not lost yet ofc.

At one point, Paige said that FDs commitment to the game is unchanged. Which can mean anything IMHO.

O7,
