What are the largest regions of the world totally unrepresented in the game?

I love this map by Yoav. It clearly shows which regions are left to cover.
I would like to see:
  • SA animal pack
  • Oceania animal pack
  • General Asia animal pack (including Greather Asia, Middle East and India)
  • Africa animal pack

That would fill up the roster really good 😊

Interesting, thank you for posting this. Looking at this map it seems that all major regions have been somewhat covered. Specific smaller regions show a different answer, I would say the Caribbean region stands out with no representation, a lot of interesting species there. New Zealand of course is the big one, but I do believe that they will be fairly represented by an Avian pack, we just need to be patient and we will get there. Other than that some small areas in Central Asia, but not enough to substantiate a region as other animals present in the game overlap these territories. There is the middle east region, but the Fennec Fox denies its entry by the OP'S criteria.

So yes there are only two regions (questionable definition of regions, since New Zealand is part of the region of Oceania) of importance to zoos in the game that have not being covered, the Caribbean and New Zealand.

Caribbean is partly covered by Iguana in this map below - also created by amazing yoav.

I would like to see:
  • SA animal pack
  • Oceania or even better Islands animal pack
  • General Asia animal pack (including Greather Asia and India)
  • Africa animal pack (including Middle East)
  • Arctic (regular DLC)

And I know that this is unpopular opinion but I don’t want to loose even one spot in a DLC for birds when there are still so many mammals the we need in the game (except for emu). I belive birds deserve their own animal packs. Maybe even two - one for ground birds and one for flying birds. That would resolve the Bird problem somehow.
Yeah, that map is really great - it’s actually what made me want to ask the question I have, since it’s hard to tell what areas don’t have any representation at smaller scales since you can’t see the animals’ full distribution.

Why would or should ‘region’ correspond to Frontier’s continents or DLC? I chose the word region specifically because it does not imply any particular scale. New Zealand and Tasmania are both regions whether or not they are within a larger (DLC) region. If you take ‘region’ to mean continent then the question clearly makes no sense in any level, however, to take the word as meaning that makes no sense.

Uncovered regions... You seem to want it very strictly at 0 representation, so here are some areas and some corresponding animals. I thought of more regions, but they mostly have at least one general animal with a huge wide range. For example, almost all of South America is covered by the cougar, even though having a cougar doesn't exactly flesh out a region such as Patagonia. There are many examples like this.

But for the sake of your very specific question:

  • Tasmania --> Tasmanian devil
  • New Zealand --> Kiwi
  • Mongolia --> Przewalski horse
  • Tibet --> Takin, Tibetan antelope, markhor
  • Arabian peninsula --> Arabian oryx, striped hyena, sand cat, caracal
  • Cuba and surrounding islands (not lesser Antilles) --> West Indian manatee
  • Atlas and the coastal zone of Marocco, Algeria, and Tunesia --> Barbary macaque, crested porcupine, common genet

Nice examples, although I think Mongolia has at least one species ATM - snow leopard (and wolf but no, I don’t want to have that argument here)

You're right, snow leopards live in Mongolia. Not the first species I'd have thought of, but it still counts.
Edit: And they live in Tibet too.

The Caribbean Islands could actually make up a pretty interesting 4+1 pack

West Indian Manatee - If fully aquatics is doable
Rhinoceros Iguana - A very terrestrial species, so no need to put it in an exhibit
Desmarest's hutia (Cuban Hutia) - A big rodent
West Indian whistling-duck - I believe this bird would be all right without flight animations
Exhibit: Cuban brown anole

Not sure what to do with the scenery here though. Perhaps stuff for tropic halls or similar.

I believe you can find Saltwater crocodiles in the Philippines

Well, then visayan warty pig could count since it lives in area without any crocodiles (Visayas). Rat would also count with Northern Luzon, but somehow bunch of crocodiles live there.

I also think that Philippines could use one animal in a game too :) For me the Islands animal pack would be an amazing option actually to cover less known and very interesting and unique species like: Fossa, kiwi, tassie, Visayan warty pig, tree kangaroo, Anoa, Gibbon, Manatee and walrus for example

Palawan island has its own binturong subspecies (and common in zoos). But it could be argued that it only belongs to Philippines politically, while bio-geographically its fauna is more like the Indonesian archipielago.
