and surface missions?

Target missions: I've noticed that as you head towards a part of a system that has it's own orbit lines it will show up in the nav panel- like the honk has a limited range or something.

Was it a chain missions? They're bugged AF... reported it a while back but nothing happened. Been tempted to report it again.

tl;dr Chain missions don't produce markers (for Surface Installation Scan, Assassination chained missions)

Planetary surface scan missions require scanning of the system beacon to get the planetary object revealed. It will not be marked on the system map as such, so you have to read the mission message you get.

Yep. Recently on 2 different planetary scan missions. Honked, dropped into the nav beacon, no message. Maybe you are expected to fire up the FSS and rescan the likely bodies in the system, or they could just be broken, updates often break certain missions types.
At least asassination missions seem sorted lately.
