Reading the Expance books, thought it was about time its nice to compare the tv show and the books. (its a shame that the tv couldnt make the belters all 2m tall tho)

I've read the First and Second Chronicles twice and, since The Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant are out now, I'm going to reread the originals first and the move onto The Last Chronicles....

Oh man - that is an amazing and epic series of books.

I've read the 1st and 2nd chronicles a couple of times. The Last was "good", but not as exceptional as what came before.

Donaldson may be my favourite author and Thomas Covenant may be my favourite story. Between that and Tolkein (obviously).

At the moment I've just finished Graham Hancock's Fingerprints of the Gods, having read his other books in the past, and I've just started Hamlet's Mill that Hancock recommends - and quotes a fair bit - by von Dechend and de Santillana. I'm captivated by the mathematics embedded into the pyramids and Sphinx and the other megalithic cultures around the world.

In the background I'm also reading the last book in the Joe Abercromby Shattered Sea trilogy - Half a War.

Yeah, First and Second Chronicles are some of the best books I've ever read, absolutely fantastic series.

Currently reading The Outsider by Stephen King.

Okay, this responds to an earlier question of mine.

How much would you recommend to read Hobbit first?

Anyone is welcome to answer, of course.
DEFINITELY read "The Hobbit" first, as it lays the initial groundwork for "The Lord of the Rings".

If you ever find a copy of "The Hobbit" where Chapter 5 is NOT called "Of Riddles and Rings" (or very similar) BUY IT (if you can afford to do so). It will be a first edition.

People; I'm only a couple of chapters in and starting to remember a lot of the book(s) now from previous reads............. I still get a "Wow!" from picking these up yet again.
