Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

It was finally time, I upgraded my old PC that I built in 2011.

From a Intel i7 2600k, to a AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. 32GB of ram, not that I need it, but it was more cheap than a 16GB kit. I also upgraded my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 10, yes you may laugh now, but hey Windows 7 worked fine for me all those years.

And now for the nasty part, you see I used to be a smoker, I quit last year in November and I'm glad I did, but when I took apart my old PC I was in for a surprise...holy cow the insides of my old PC was gross from all those years of smoking, so gross in fact I did not reuse my old case, I had to buy a new one.

I can't say Elite runs better as such, I still use the same GFX card after all, but the overall experience is better. I'm so happy I upgraded

I forgot to add, I'm doing "Road to riches" at the moment, scanning every planet in all the systems I visit.

What GPU are you using?

The "Road to Riches" doesn't usually mean scanning every planet in all the systems you visit.

The general idea is to make money fast(er) by only scanning the valuable stuff.

There are web sites that will make a list for you of nearby systems with valuable stuff to scan, and tell you which planets.

There's one here --> https://edtools.cc/expl.php

Kudos.

I smoked for years...from the time I was 18 to the time I was 40.

I wish I could say I quit for my health or for my family or something, but I didn't. I simply got ed off. I remember as the years went by and cigarettes became more and more expensive, we'd all moan and groan and complain about it, but we were addicts so we'd keep paying it.

Then, one day in 2007, shortly after I bought my brand new Yamaha Vmax, a few buddies and I went riding up at the Cherohala Skyway. We were at the north end of it topping off on gas when I went in to buy a pack of smokes and the lady said, "$5.18".

I froze.

I developed a facial tick for the first time.

I did some mental math.

That was it. I said, "Keep 'em. They obviously need them more than I do."

I walked out the door, threw my lighter in the garbage and never touched another one again to this day.

It's rough. Not many people are able to quit. If you smoked anywhere near as long as I did, it will take about two years for your lungs to get back to normal. You'll also start to notice that food taste a lot different than it used to.

But the curse is, you'll be able to smell someone smoking from literally 100 yards away. And it's awful.

Heh heh. I smoked for some years, myself. Not quite as long as you, but long enough to be addicted. When I decided to quit it was because I was having some circulation problems in my legs and decided to nix the nicotine, because it was making things worse.

I just stopped, 'cold turkey' as they call it. It was quite annoying, but eventually the craving subsided.

Now, though, I don't mind the smell of cigarettes much. It's kind of nostalgic or something, lol.

My wife smokes still, so it's a good thing I'm ok with it I guess :)

I know, but the website I use is kinda out of date, and I don't mind scanning everything :)
