Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I want one of these for plinking squirrels and racoons.

I prefer the more portable c.2065 version tbh... ;)

I think the one on that ship might result in a somewhat carbonised/atomised Davy Crocket hat :)

Ya, you need one of those suits the wear to pour molten steel.

Reminds me of when I was an apprentice many decades ago, we had a trip to one of the companies casting facilities and got to watch a pour. Nothing as large scale as that, we only made jet engines so not heavy engineering, there were a group of people involved non dressed that heavily besides the usual suspects there were two people standing one either side of the pour with shovels full of some powder which if the pour started to change colour from a pinkish orange to an increasingly bright white would through the contents of the shovel at it to the breathing distress of everybody nearby. The pour was magnesium and the shovels contained sulphur to stop it burning.

In game I have just entered the Galactic Core sector so progress will slow down as I have a whole new chapter of the Codex to fill in, things are getting cluttered in space with very bright skies in all directions, I can catch up with my carrier in 11 jumps in fastest mode however in economical it is more like 300 jumps however I could make the trip without refuelling as long as I didn't spend much time in each system.

Is that 500Ly? Pretty dang dense, that would be over 600 jumps per plot, way more than I've ever seen, maddingly delirious. The most I encountered was 500+ in the Anthor Patch, a Brown Dwarf hell.
Just under, about 497Ly usually for the Carrier.

Must remember to check how close the nearest star is next time I am in game, and maybe check again when I am deeper into the core.

Tritium restocking: it's not so much the rinse-and-repeat ~10Mm trips to the station and back, but the need to relog over&over due to not being able to transfer cargo to carrier each time... ;p

Assuming you cargo hatch is powered on and I see you are fully docked, it should work. But I know it doesn't. What if you set up a buy order on the carrier market and sell to your own carrier? Does that avoid relogging?
Asking because I expect to be loading tritium for a new expedition in January.

Good idea that, thanks - must admit it didn't occur to me at the time & the restock is complete now, but will give it a try if I encounter the issue in future... one thing I noticed: my carrier displayed the name of the previous station where I'd bought the Tritium on the HUD when I docked - so it seems that at some level the transition from one port to another hadn't registered/completed.

I have this on a regular basis that it takes some seconds until the name changes if you change stations quickly.
It was quite prominent in Pareco.
It probably could help to park the carrier around a different planet in the system or in a nearby system somewhere close to the entry point (if your fuel station isn't too far away from the star).

OK I remembered to check how close together the stars are, keep in mind that I have only just entered the core sector so things will probably get tighter.

The nearest star I have seen today was 0.8Ly away, my shortest jump on the route was 1.2Ly and the most distant star shown on the cockpit Nav Panel was a massive 4.51Ly away.

I will keep using economical jumps for a while as my Codex is still nearly empty for this sector.

Regarding which I found a new to me type of Tubas.

Quite a seasonal name if not appearance.

I think I'm going to come back through the core my next time out, I've always wanted to visit Explorers Anchorage. The sky is pretty cool looking, take lots of screenies.
