Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

All I heard was that you disappeared entering the ring of a gas giant... No mention of any explosions, so I assumed you might have a secret base there...

Which is a kind of full disclosure, on its own...
I've tested this fairly extensively now and can report that the performance in basically any station is not just better, but significantly better - up to ~30% better in some situations.
My graphics settings are exactly the same I use in my Windows install (which I have only logged into for a meeting as Teams in the browser doesn't support blurring or custom backgrounds and I hadn't made my bed, which, unfortunately, is right behind my desk). I don't know where the extra frames are coming from, but I shan't complain.
I have yet to do a GCZ. I suspect this will bring me back to earth, so to speak.

And if you take the time and read through all these pages, you find a wealth of knowledge. Some of it might only be of historical value by now, some of hysterical value, but there still is a lot of recent knowledge to be found in here.
I spent yesterday warping the carrier back out to the black to start back on exobiology as well.
First system off the carrier, 7 planets with biologics, 5 mappable, 4 with 6 biologics.
I like this.
It's a brilliantly useful set of examples of the things you can do in the game.
I own Elite Dangerous since Kickstarter, (i even played the original Elite back in the day) but didn't have much time to get through the learning curve.
Only since the last 1,5 years i have some more time, and really started to enjoy the game.
This forum has been very helpful but i still call myself a somewhat experienced beginner.
