I had started doing planetary scan missions as part of my faction promotion. I’d not done them before, so it was really fun to get involved with searching for the site and then landing a suitable distance away before deploying the SRV and conducting a hit and run on the site,
I did a few covert ops missions as well, which are very like the planetary scan, but against known surface installations, you know, the ones that you can’t actually land at. They are a hoot. Screeching in to these bases, klaxons and things going off like mad, skimmers having a pop at you, it’s all good fun as you race round to find the data terminal and scan it before GTFO of there as fast as possible
I also discovered that one if the systems I was trying to flip had a controlling faction that was player-based... So the war I precipitated was pounced on by literally 20 or so people flying Corvettes to have a pop at the combat zones. Other than impish Loki-level amusement at causing this, I don’t think me on my own is going to get anywhere against an entire player faction, but it
was fun
