And this trip out took me to a milestone in my credit balance too.

Back in the bubble.

Time to offload the few tons of platinum I picked up, then it's time to lube up the hardware, cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war in a GCZ.

After that, the slightly longer term plan is a visit to the Vulcan Gate as I've never been. Get some juicy codex entries.

I've been having a day off form the game. It's been quite intense recently, and I need to relax. I might play later this evening, or I might play something else.

I allowed myself to get annoyed with the game yesterday as I tried to link-up with a player that wanted help, back and forth, system to system, station to station, text messages not working, gave up. Happily someone else seems to have got them sorted, but 'cos I am still annoyed (at myself, not the tyro) today I finished off Twin Peaks "The Entire Mystery" and now into the second Blu-ray of "The Return" (the final series). Elite Dangerous is going to have to wait until David Lynch finishes.

Couldn't sleep last night and decided to spend a few hours in game, haulin' stuff around for factions. Been quite a while I last did that.
I really like the Interstellar Loadstar. It is quite agile for its size and really easy to land manually. Even though I one time managed to overshoot the pad and got entangled with something while backing up. Had to hop out of the game to get the ship free again. Well, you can't be perfect every time, can you?

Got surprised recently. Found an offline settlement in a system I was meant to steal PP data from, so dropped in, inserted a spare regulator, e-hacked the power on and then did some peaceful looting, including a bunch of PP data. I wanted to retrieve the regulator when I was done, so called my ship back and then went to power things down. As I was leaving the power centre I saw a DBX descending in the distance and initially thought "silly NPC, docking even though there's no power now", then I spotted a bunch of NPCs dropping from the ship. I hadn't particularly come for a fight, so I decided just to head back to my nearby SRV and leave. As I was jetpacking over the power centre I was suddenly hit by a hail of fire which caused a lot of damage (shields were still peaceably down). Shields up and looked around, there were another 2 or 3 DBXs rising above me and heavy incoming fire from close by on the ground. I scurried to the SRV but got the message about being over limit, incoming fire started again and I saw numerous NPCs closing in - I did an emergency boarding (for the first time!) and drove over to my ship, which had landed on a landing pad while the power was still up and was taking fire itself.

Got away OK in the end, but I lost what I'd collected plus the spare power regulator I'd used. Revisited the site later in a more combative mood and got everything I needed.

This isn't a complaint, I was being complacent and it's actually nice to still be surprised now and again ;)

PS I ought to apologise to Cmdr the100thmonkey, who appears to have adopted the chimp's-head-in-an-astronaut's-helmet years before I even started playing the game. I hope mine being in colour provides sufficient differentiation, but am open to further compromise - changing to a moderately attractive baboon perhaps, or an orang-utan. Not a capuchin though, I haven't trusted those since I saw one betraying Marion Ravenwood.

Back to GCZ's! Aaah, it feels liek I'm home again.

I love the smell of hot plasma first thing in the morning. Or anytime of day really.

It's funny, but when I'm playing GCZ's, I feel like "Sarge" in the in the intro cinematic (if anyone remembers it) to Quake 3 Arena :D

Weapons of choice would be the AR-50 & LP-6, plus frag grenades and a good cigar? :D

I’ve been playing a few, while my alt is out exploring - it’s really quite good fps, just wish there were more players about to get a good game together more regularly - PVE or PVP :)

It's OK. Yours isn't smoking, which is decidedly more wholesome.

Today's plan was to GCZ my eyes out.

However, took delivery of a new MFD that was supposed to be easy to get up-and-running and all seamlessly installed over WiFi.

I'll leave you to fill in the blanks *

The best laid plans of mice and men...

* No, it's still not working.

Nothing is ever "seamlessly installed over wifi".

I'm not surprised.

What is the device?

Yeah, curiously I have found that most MFD's that run over wireless are better set up using USB to get the drivers and everything installed, then disconnect the USB and tell it to connect by wifi, usually works first time then. Of course that doesn't help if it doesn't have USB, or you can't get to the PC to use the USB or etc.

An Epson Ecotank 2830 all-in-one printer. I'm going to run the set up again via USB then sort out the WiFi bit later on. If all else fails, I'll just get a long cable and connect wired. Not ideal but hey ho.

I won't waste too much time pouring over the vagaries and troubleshooting. Spent too many years troubleshooting when I was working so don't need the hassle.

I need stuff to be simples as it cuts into my play time :D

Speaking of which...

My inventory numbers for data stands at 997/1000. Assets and goods around half that. So, I might do another gun or suit just to compare if it's easier to do these days

Mind you, settlement power ons, which were my go-to for materials, have all yielded zero mats since PP2. I think I have to do these types of missions in certain systems only these days - ones with no PP status have empty lockers and data points.

I could be wrong in that.

Gosh, it's late/early and I'm rambling. I love nights of insomnia.

Can't you give the printer a static IP? It should allow you do that on the printer then you should be able to see it in you're router. Example: 192.168.1.51 leaving the first 50 for DHCP, that's how I used to do wireless appliances. Obviously, I don't know what addresses you're router is using but you can have up to 255. But I think you know all this already, you guys are all computer brainiacs.
