Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Very nice. I think Top Gun single handedly made Tomcats the equivelent to the Cobra for Elite. It's like a mascot. Most people have a fondness for it.

Yeah, that was a cool movie. Seeing the flight scenes really brought back some memories. They fudged a little, but it was pretty close. Hitting the brakes to let the aggressor fly past was a bit of a stretch! Definitely a risk versus reward move. Pilots want speed, and that move reduces speed which can get you smoked quick if it doesn't work.

Icon indeed. Great look, sweep wings, Mach 2+, awesome radar system, and some nasty weapons.

Watched only recently the second movie, enjoyed that they let the ol' Tomcat have a ride as a guest star. Badass plane she is for sure!

Ok I'm back to ED and doing laps at Dave's hope with the SRV. I wish there were a timer to do time trial. Gotta work on that Python Mk2, cool ship too

That's interesting to hear. It's a scene which always stuck with me and made me wonder about the logistics of it all.

The Marines had a similar high risk trick used with the Harrier, VIF, start playing around with which way your thrust is going to create changes that you can’t do in a conventional aircraft.

Hi All :)

At last!....Second station built, I'm feeling like 'Bilbo Baggin's' when he states...

“I feel thin, sort of stretched, like butter scraped over too much bread.”

Seriously (for a minute) that's pretty much how I feel about trucking in Colonisation at this moment in time! ...Still, at least my grandsons have TWO stations to choose from for their 'secret' bases now, when we get to play together again. Interestingly I'm quite pleased with this second station. I've just this minute landed there in my Mandalay, yep, scaffolding towers are up and it's all nice and new looking (no rubbish on the floors). It's an industrial Outpost, with an Interstellar Factors, which could be handy as it's kinda central to some lucrative systems. The System is (Col 285 sector MK-T B18-5).
Only one person there and he's behind the counter at Apex Travel, but he's in operation (y), I might take a trip somewhere just for the change in a minute or two.
What I'm really pleased about though is there's already loads of commodities up for sale, and some useful stuff too, with (at the moment) reasonable stocks. Quite different to the previous Coriolis station. 🤷‍♂️.

There's provision in the system to build an Asteroid base, so somewhere down the line I'll probably have a butchers at what it's going to be useful at....but not just yet...I'm in colonisation recovery mode!. 😅
It will of course be interesting to see how this station develops (automatically) over the next week.

Again on a serious note, I made a passing statement a day or two ago on the forum about personalised station interiors (not ships). For some reason, especially with this station I've definitely got the urge (not sure why) to want to 'decorate' the interior. It's only a thought of mine but I'd be willing to bet if Frontier gave us the ability to do this they'd make a small fortune.
The difference between station Interiors and ship interiors is I think basically this...who gets to see your decorating / design flair in your ships versus stations?....especially if your station happens to be in a popular area ;)
Anyhow, ship interiors has never been one of my wishes in Elite, but I've surprised myself with my recent thoughts about station interiors.🙃

Another passing thought, has there been any player 'built' stations that sell (new) rare goods or some rare commodities etc?....I suspect not, but....🤷‍♂️
Okay, time to have a cup of tea 🍵, a large lemon flavoured muffin (or two), and take that taxi ride, let somebody else do the piloting for once! 😄
Edit...The station names are game generated, I'll be changing them with ARX probably in a few weeks or so, but I'll have a consultation with my grandsons to come up with names that are within the spirit of the game, but obviously their input will be relevant too!
Jack :)

An asteroid base would be nice. I haven't seen a snow one yet but I've barely been on.

You're only about six jumps from the Dog House in a Krait II.

I'd love to be able to have a little more say about my stations. The layout of the concourse, for example, or customizeable banners. But also what kind of goods are sold on the market. Which has a lot to do with the Lore of my char.

How dare you, sir. The 80's gayness of Top Gun is part of what makes them classic. What next? Edit out the planes?

just not my cup of tea m8 is all....... nothing against it personall pref an all🤷‍♂️
democratic freedom of choice is why these battles are fought..............
sexual pref is irrelevant in a fight weather a dogfight or not
i liked 300 for the fights not its sexual overtones as spartan real history reflects they where "that way" inclined pretty much according to homer's iliad

I was only kidding. :D We should probably stop talking before a mod deletes Tyre's thread.

Hmmm...I've just checked, it says I haven't got enough construction points to build an Asteroid Base? ☹️
I'll have to search out how to get 'em
Oh, had some luck when I took that Taxi yesterday!,,,just a shortish trip to my 'home base' at Fidalgo Dock from my recent Outpost Station. I looked in on Pioneer Supplies while I was there and picked up a grade 3 Artemis suit with added sprint duration, something I've been looking for for ages. I was just after the sprint upgrade, the grade 3 suit was a bonus! 🥳

Dog House?....Cephei Sector?

Jack :)
