Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I've done a bit of engineering on my FSD and other bits, but I keep running out of Encoded Materials and frustratingly they seem to be rarer than hen's teeth.
I've got a 40ly jump range atm, so I'm happy enough with that. 52 jumps to go.

If you can get to Jamesons Crash Site (HIP 12099, planet 1B), you can scan some stuff that'll get you "Adaptive Encryptions Capture" - a G5 encoded. You can use these to trade at a mat trader. It won't take long to get the maximum of 100 of these at that site.

I'm still on my way back to the bubble from Sag A.
I did a silly thing. I attempted to do one of those 'controlled freefall' things over a high G planet. I used the planet's gravity to excellerate my speed. I got my speed to over 4,300m/s.

Then I got cocky and got too close to the ground. I ended up in a ditch with damaged modules and just 5% hull. I could have killed myself and ended up at a FC that I docked at, some 4,000 lys back.

I was recording my flight/crash at the time so I actually have something good to put in my next exploration video lol.

I've decided to continue with my journey back to the bubble even though my ship is being held together by its shields.
Needless to say, one false move on my part could take the rest of my hull, and then it's hello rebuy screen and the loss of so much UC data.

I only have 11,263 ly's to go before reaching the nearest base with a large landing pad and repair facilities.
Oh the joys of exploration.

Wish me luck.

Skin of ones teeth indeed. Do you have an AFMU?

adds a bit of spice to the return leg!

If I didn't play solo only, then I would.

If you are not on a console then there is no issue with using either rats as you can meet in a PG. Of course if on a console you might not have any choice but solo. Still, 5% hull will suffice until you dock plus of course you could ask a FC owner if they could drop into a sytem on your route. Mine doesn't have repair facility but others do.

Good luck anyway.

I am on PS4. The main issue is that where I am currently living, there is no broadband, hence the reason I don't play Open. Once I've got my own BB then I will get a Playstation network pass and play Open. I'm currently accessing ED by my mobile provider on G4, which is more than adequate for solo.

DSSA FC tend to have good facilities. And not have jumped away :)

Yes, I was on the DSSA Void Crusaders 4000 ly's back. I don't really fancy back tracking all that way.

I'm sure my 5% hull will be ok. 🤞
Besides, it adds more adventure to my journey.

Not much to report, made a nice chunk out of the bounty CG, probably half of the credits wasted on Tritium on the last CG.
Tanya has had a go at the CG in a T-9 with Rails and Pulse turrets... Hard work but satisfying. Need to get her some Packhounds. The best was ramming a T-10 to bits (not CG system!). Obviously she's had some assistance from the cops, which does not sit well with her. The maniac.😱

Probably not doing the trade CG, washing machine has blowed up, so I'm currently stripping the motor. Help the Marlinists or clean the commutator...🤓

In a nice little hazres that seems to be increasing my combat percentage at a steady, if slow, rate. Credits are coming in too - again, slowly, but more than before the last nerf combat rebalancing round. I'm waiting on a market shift (again) for ny little stash of painite to make a tidy profit.

I think I migjht try some combat missions again.

Woohoo. A whopping 41% dangerous...

Mind you, the payouts are quite nice these days.

On another note, I wonder how many people work, live or otherwise exist in a Coriolis startport... hmm. Given some outposts are called something "city", I'd imagine "quite a lot" would be the answer.
We seem to be space stalkers - I also hit 41% over the weekend. On your Guardian Shield Reinforcement query, I have those and biweaves on my combat ships, which include a Corvette. The shields rarely drop in PVE, and in squadron testing it was absolutely worth adding the class 5 into the large slot you're talking about.

I tend to leave a seven day massacre mission running all week and do it as and when. The payout is generally 13-30m cr, and I find that I make the same again in bounties. It isn't amazing money, but it's a good steady income and suits me just fine while working on my combat rank. The bounty payout increase has made them worthwhile, for me.

This might be old news, but it is really worth unlocking the Guardian FSD booster, if you can stomach it. There are various guides online. It really opens up the game, as you can then fit one to all of your ships and get a flat increase on your jump range. One concerted session can get it, and you can do it in any ship with SRV and point defence (something small or medium helps as landing spots can be tight).
