Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Engineering? You? :D
I may even have to....surface mine. 😭

Mind you. I suppose this is a good week for it. Maybe I'll just take cash rewards till Thursday.
Wait, if your engineered core internals stayed but the rest disappeared, that isnt a one button misclick afaik. You have to manually tick the checkbox on the top right to select individual rebuy modules i think.

As for Krait vs Python, I chose the Krait just for the looks. The fighter bay is a nice option but not critical. The cockpit of the Krait gives a nice view but I dont like the annoying quad yellow lights that shine at my eyes when stuff like hatches are deployed.

The coffee machine was the final deciding factor.

edit : For your question on highest rated module, just use Coriolis. The drag down menus show all the modules available in game.
I did click something in the top right. Maybe I saw what I thought was a 'select all' option as I stupidly rushed through the rebuy screen. Like I said, I've not had a rebuy for a while since the Eagle and Cobra are pretty fast if you use boost correctly and don't allow someone to use you as target practice while you cling on for that last black box.

Is Coriolis an app or website?

And this week was the first time I've docked at a burning station so I have no comparison. I definitely thought the ship was done for. I'm not sure if entering the hanger stabilises things because I didn't stick around for long.

Here's a shot from today, me and the fighter waiting for the next wave of pie rats.

No taking my pie!

Well, finally splurged on a new toy. Jumped her to Gliese 868 and now waiting for over 90 storage modules to be delivered to the new garage.

1st FC Noob question : Do all those random NPC ships docking with my FC actually give me any business (like refueling) or they just abusing my gracious free parking facilities?

Just whipped out the credit card and bought Odyssey on Steam. It doesnt seem to download anything though. Do we need to wait for the 18th before it can be downloaded? FDev still writing the final bugs?
I don't recall ever pre-downloading games on Steam but I tend to be quite selective and don't buy tons off stuff. Plus Odyssey is the only game I've ever pre-ordered.

Unfortunately... they give you nuffink.

Pretty sure nothing comes down the pipe beforehand. There may be a stealth download but I don't think FDev do those.

The latter.

On the plus side the security ships are borrowed from the faction who owns the space your carrier is parked in so if you annoy that faction your carriers security will attack you.

I really want a way to turn them off. They don't have MY permission to dock!

But yeah, they are just random flavor, and only show up in populated systems.

Some of them are security vessels from the system you're in, doing their usual policing of the area.

Note that if you are hostile in the system in which you park your FC, these security guys will be hostile to you and may even shoot at you when you arrive "home". If you fire back while in the no-fire zone of your carrier, you will not like the results, either.

So, don't park your FC where you are hostile :p

I am up to flying to Sagittarius A (the supermassive black hole at the center of our galaxy), in a Dolphin with only a 26 ly FSD jump range. Proof.

edit I've only been playing this game for a few days. No engineering done to this ship at all. Just pared down to bare bones and a prayer.

After an exploration trip that started last summer, focusing mostly on the Vulcan Gate area, I finally got my carrier and fleet to Colonia. Been some time since I was there, so we're parked in a quiet uninhabited system getting ready to watch the Odyssey launch!

Then I will probably go visit the center of the Galaxy for old times sake! :D

I was just jumping between stars when BLAP, Elite ctd on me. Now I just know, I'mma log into the game and be face planted deep into some star. Plus, I'll have to totally replot my entire course. again. I had just plotted a 13600 ly course as my goal for tonight. Drat!

Its great how you jump into the deep end fast! I wasn't even remotely thinking of my first 5000LY trip until I got the FSD Boost and some FSD engineering.

For gawd's sake pls turn in the data as soon as you can (at some FC if possible along the way). I don't get very sore at losing 10m in combat bonds or 11m with insurance with a rebuy but losing 1m in chart data pains me much more.

OK, so if some guys shoot at me inside the no-fire zone, my own FC wont shoot at them? If I shoot back, my FC will zap me?
