Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I need opinion polls... apparently HAB and CMD buildings have them but they appear very few and far between - a recurring theme on Oddyssey engineer unlocks it seems.

When (if?) I unlock Kit Fowler, I'm wondering what mod would be best: extra ammo capacity (suit) or magazine size (primary weapon)? Or something else? Choices, choices :D

Opinion polls are semi-scarce, but not as bad as Settlement Defense Plans :)

I found a couple on my Alt yesterday just doing various missions, so they do show up.

I was in the Vesper-M4 system, and I found one at Dino Outpost, and one at Brewer Military Facility. One was in a HAB, one was in a CMD, if I recall correctly. They can also show up in DORM, BAR, OPR, and CBN.

:)

Gives me hope! :D

Maybe I just bite the bullet & do the final grind for the fleet carrier now.
Go for it! I love mine. Didn't think it would be such good thing but it is - albeit a toy for those with cash to burn so not a beginner's tool. Although credits are not too hard to come by these days. Iirc, and before my time, they were a bit more... scarce.

On another note, The Expanse 6 is on Prime. I had no idea. So um... Woot.

Never found a single one. Not one!

At this point I cant even remember what there are used for to begin with!

I can think of multiple ways how it could be useful in what I like to do in game. Also, thanks to a bunch of circumstances I've got about 1 bn credits worth of engineered ships in Colonia and the FC would be rather handy in getting those back, too.

new ship: yeap i making a collection, just taken out two vultures. that will teach them not to become pirates/wanted.
Assassin missions,
cheap but very good at stay on their tails. And comes with a great when you tank the amour up and the hull armour to max. not engineered yet but hey ho. you never know.

another weird crash this after noon. I launched my imp eagle and ended up inside the out ring section of the station (autopilot). twisting around like crazy. Until i managed to free myself with 4% hull left. return to station and landed game crashed. i think they fdev are playing tricks on me.

the Jab's done.

I was just thinking to myself today while flying around doing mundane missions and small trades that in a more realistic economic model, doing a 20Ly delivery/courier should net you like 400-500 credits pay max.

Games with free flow of money isn't really my preference , e.g. Skyrim

Anyone remember Taipan? You get too much cash and Elder Brother Wu asks you nicely for some.. donations.

Maybe they should do this for ED too. Have Pilots Fed/Kumo Crew/Men in Black etc. ask for donations once you get too successful. Failure to comply gets you lots of mobbing fans everywhere.

edit: Whoops, I was actually trying to reply to Tyres' post on credits. Numbnut me managed to even mess that up.

Agreed. When starting out, a lot of available options felt pointless after figuring out how much money could be made quickly doing pewpew with the police at a low res.

When I started playing last year I was expecting very minimal payout like FE2. In FE2 you really had to scrutinize missions to make sure you could deliver on time and they still didn;t pay much.

In some ways I'm glad ED is the way it is credit wise but in others I'm not so glad...mostly the bugs and lack of dangerous PvE.

The original C=64 Elite was brutal. On the contrary, Elite: Dangerous as a total newbie felt rather imbalanced - I think I made more credits during my first low-res stint than on previous two days of mining.

I don't do a lot of combat. Mostly just goids and supporting AEGIS in that CG while back. But I do occasionally take out my PvE Chieftain and go get some haz rez bounty (1 or 2) before having to head back in.

...So not a good day today.

Still heading to Beagle Point, and was on a paltry 250+ jump leg.

Was getting a bit bored, so started messing around.
After a few jumps I'd perfected a "Barrel roll fuel scoop maneuver" and had it nailed to muscle memory

Then, to my surprise, I dropped out of hyperspace into a dual star! First one I have seen!
So, as you've guessed, zigged instead of zagged, and got too close to one, and promptly dropped out of super cruise

I was reasonably calm at first and fired off a heat sink - hit jump, and saw a message about can't jump, exceeds 5T fuel..... didn't read the rest as the n00b smell in the cockpit was replaced by something more sinister!

I switched to the galactic map and cancelled the route, then switched back. Temp critical, fired off another heatsink.
Hit jump again, and managed to get clear.

Checked heat sinks - none left!

I fitted 2 heat sink launchers and assumed unlimited - didn't RTFM!

Scurried off with my tail between my legs to the nearest (20+ jumps) Fleet carrier for restock and repairs. Also cashed in 45Mil of cartographic data.

Not quite the end of week two, and still a n00b :(

You can craft heatsinks (and pretty much every other type of "ammo" and also many other useful things) on board. It's called Synthesis and it is accessible via the right-hand panel.

Well, at least if you are scavenging raw (from mining and in SRV) and manufactured (from dead ships etc.) materials on your way.

Also - your situation is one of the reasons why it's wise to have "jump to another system" and "jump to supercruise" bound on two different keys. You can then hit "jump to supercruise" and escape without needing to cancel your route in galaxy map.
