Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I have 2 T9s...

My all round cargo transporter/pirate fighter: Ruby Rhod - https://s.orbis.zone/lmxl (this is the one I use for hauling large quantities of everything, and killing pirates, when they interdict me...)

And my Platinum Hotspot laser miner: Gold Digger - https://s.orbis.zone/lmxk
Thanks and I'll check out those loadouts.

Re your suggestion of setting the market price for tritium high to discourage casual visitors from buying it, I just checked my market on the carrier and no Tritium shows but I guess that's because the 50% I was given to start with is already in the carrier fuel tank and not available for sale anyway. Once the tank is full I guess any more I store on the carrier will be surplus and automatically appear on the market will it?

All tritium you or someone else hauls to the carrier will be stored in its cargo hold and can be seen on the market, if you wish to sell (some of) it.
Every time the carrier's fuel tank needs topping, you have to be on it in a cargo capable ship, transfer trit from carrier hold to ship and then donate at tritium depot (up to max 1000 t in tank).

And now for a not entirely gratuitous image of a Cutter, laden with 640t Tritium, ready to depart for a carrier some 3Mm away - it is still due for an overhaul as an AX-rescue beast, one of these days… :]

Re your suggestion of setting the market price for tritium high to discourage casual visitors from buying it,
Sorry, you misunderstand, I put up a BUY order so a friend can sell Tritium to me at inflated prices.

Locking down access to Friends (or Friends & Squadron) keeps everyone else away...so they are unable to even dock and therefore can't take part in the generosity that I extend to friends.

As @Zieman said above: FCs have a cargo hold which is separate from the gas tank. Took me some time to understand that...

Unfortunately, even in 3309 such convenience there is not! Any excess Tritium over the 1000t tank limit must be transfered to the FC hold via the inventory panel… cunningly hidden away in the top right corner.

So I just now bought a Python for carrying the tritium and it's currently on its way to the carrier from the station where I bought it. Does anyone here have a good loadout at all for the Python, so I can use it for carrying the tritium with as big a cargo capacity as possible but at the same time still have a good defensive capability? Thanks!
I use my Python completely defenseless, evading any interdictions. It has a shield, yes, but that is just to keep the ship in one piece when visiting terrestrial ports. I don't thinka size 3 shield would help much against a pirate in a 'Conda...

This is the build from memory, I am sure I don't have all the best parts in there, but not entirely sure which class they actually were. It is good enough to do some delivery missions around Suhte. I have the flight assist modules in the smaller slots, but if you want an extra 6t...

Thanks, I'll check out that loadout as well. I'm not too bothered about the extra 6t so I'll figure that one out somehow.

I already have a Python that I just bought but still haven't flown and pretty soon I should have a T9 as well when I find one. In fact maybe two T9s eventually so one can be configured for mining, as suggested by @nemolomen.

Ok thanks!

FC has to be in same system for any other services to be enabled. Also, when buying tritium it cannot go directly into the carrier, even when the carrier is docked right next to a body that has a station that has the fuel for sale - has to be taken to the carrier in one of my ship's cargo holds.

So I guess I need to get a ship ready for that, with good weapons in case of pirates and plenty of cargo capacity. I already have a Krait MkII that I haven't yet flown, but even with its default loadout has various cargo holds included, so might use that one. (I'd originally bought that ship to fit with AX weapons to have a go at Thargoid scouts, but may put that on hold for now as my understanding is AX is no good against pirates, so will need to fit with standard weaponry for now at least.)
Ferrying tritium to your fleet carrier from the space station selling it that you will be parking your fleet carrier right next to only needs as much cargo space as you can get. You'll only be supercruising a short distance which means the odds of pirate interdiction are close to zero. You could run an E rated Type 9 with no shield and just cargo racks in it for this task.
Quain uses a Cutter, shieldless, if just collecting tritium because he's way to vain to be seen dead in a T9 ;);)

I've been on the fence about whether or not to get a HOTAS. Part of me just likes the ease of keyboard and mouse, but a really big part of me wants to give that a try.
Back in 2016 when I was in my starter Sidewinder, in the days before factory fitted docking computers, using keyboard and mouse I could barely leave the station or dock again within the 5 and 10 minute time limits then my second hand X52 Pro arrived from eBay and a miracle happened not only could I dock and undock well within the time limits without a single threat from traffic control but I could do it without having to concentrate on any of the mechanics of the process so got to really admire the scenery.

Thanks and I'll check out those loadouts.

You have a maximum cargo capacity of 25,000 tonnes in your FC, various facilities can take some of it, any cargo (tritium) transferred to the FC using the option in the top right of the inventory tab in the right hand menu will get stored there. You can also load stored items into your ship from the carrier which you will need to do as you can only donate tritium to the carriers fuel tank from your ships cargo hold. So don’t head out into the black with only your T6 on board to transfer the tritium.

You have to specifically set up the market to buy or sell items so you can’t automatically sell stuff by mistake.

Aye well, just like pretty much everything else in this game I've discovered - even something that should be as simple as putting a nameplate on your ship as I found recently, but now managed to solve - making things user friendly doesn't seem to be all that high on the list of FDevs' priorities...

Now I have a carrier and am a complete noob in that respect, I once more frequently experience this problem:

Yeah, seems like a lot of what we in 2023 call normal has gone down the drain in those years until 3309...

As long as it only happens in game, everything is fine.
