Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Whereas snipers seem to either have the aim of stormtroopers …or alternatively need just one bullet:

Well anything patterned on a side by side shotgun has to be ammunition limited, even in cowboy serials shotguns would run out of ammunition even if a six gun never would.
Yes, those enemies with long-range rifles are a pain and must have reload speed mods on their guns. Which is another reason for the shotgun - get up behind and "let 'em have it!"

I really liked the movie Predators and the semi-automatic shotgun with a rotary magazine Adrien Brody had, or maybe the sniper rifle Alice Braga (very hot) had.

Had the wrong star

Took my caustic sink launcher with extra ammo capacity for a test run into a Maelstrom. It's is essentially a heat sink launcher to the point its listed under heat sinks and the pinned blueprint for extra ammo works on heat sink and caustic sink launchers.
I beat up some Scouts on the way to the Maelstrom entering with 59% hull. I collected two more caustic tissue samples (which I don't need but have put up for sale) and left the Maelstrom with 34% hull and one out of 8 caustic sinks left.
With careful planning I recon I could get 5 caustic tissues samples in one run. I've put the two I have up for sale at the maximum 676,800. Not as profitable as mining, but it's something a little different and might help others who lack time to get a caustic sink launcher.

I checked, and I have the "Nautilus" style installed on my carrier. So here's a screenie from today :)

Just came back to Elite Dangerous last month after a 2-year break, and after shaking off the rust out in The Black, had left my AspX parked on a rocky moon so had to get my bearings LOL, participated in my first CG, the Ammonia World Survey. Finished in the top 10% and made over a billion credits. Helped me unlock my first Elite Wings in Exploration; so, setting up home in Jameson Memorial as I plan to head out to the Formidine Rift and Syreadiae JX-F c0. After that, we'll have to see what's out there...

Decided to roleplay hunting for Subject D-2 and pretend I'm the only one looking for her. This relates to the Call for assistance message in the in game inbox.
I'll travel to the deserted system in which she was said to be and conduct my investigation, because if I don't who else will. Well....

Evidently a fleet carrier is required for this investigation 🤷‍♂️:ROFLMAO:

I bought an Alliance Challenger yesterday (as an alternative to the Krait MkII fitted with AX weapons that I already have,) so I can have another go at some Thargoid Scouts.

I watched a video from Riccardo Gaming in which he gives his loadout for this on his Challenger (only on the video, not in Coriolis) and I went to Jameson Memorial to get all the modules I didn't already have and transfer them to my carrier. Problem is, he has 1A Military Grade Composite fitted on his:

But when I try to fit that on mine, I get this message:

I've done a few searches but can't find what "restricted to Aeagle" means anywhere, so any idea guys? Thanks.

It's for an Eagle - you must have removed it from one before as the hull kits are ship specific - ie: this is to stop one from buying a Sidewinder Military Comp or other expensive hull on the cheap and then fitting it to a Corvette... :]

Ah yes I saw something about the specific ship thing in the Wiki, in as much as the cost relates to the cost of the ship it's being fitted to.

I don't have an Eagle though - I just went to Jameson Memorial where they have everything and just bought it from the Outfitting there. I don't remember anything on there saying it was for an Eagle (unless I missed something.) I guess I'll go back there and see if I can get a Challenger one...

Further to above, I just checked Inara outfitting to see how it's listed in there and yes, there's data for every single ship type. So it's back to Jameson then... :sneaky:

EDIT - Oh, briiliant not. Oufitting at Jameson lists various 1A Military Grade Composite available, but doesn't say on each one what ship it's for. Only the price on each one is different.

As far as i can recall, a station will only sell you the hull kit for the ship you are currently in - the Challenger looks like it has this fitted in the top pic already? Also it looks like you have already engineered it too Duh that is from the video? :D

Aye it's a screenshot from the video. :)

I was wondering if I had to be in the ship I wanted it for, but when I got the one for an Eagle by mistake, I was in my Asp X so they sold me the wrong one that time. Whatever, maybe I'll go there in the Challenger after I've upgraded the FSD with Felicity...

Also, if the error message given was "RESTRICTED TO AN EAGLE" and not "RESTRICTED TO AEAGLE" it would have made more sense. As it was I was trying to figure out what "AEAGLE" is. I thought it might be some system faction or something.

Some parts of the Outfitting UI are quite confusing. And since outfitting itself can be confusing, that's adding confusion on top of confusion. :)

Sounds like you got it sorted out though, and know what to buy now.

That is a confusing message, especially if you’re in an Asp - another little game bug i guess?

I had a few exploding manganese material-bombs in the SRV - and then my galmap carrier bookmark pointed to somewhere 4000 LY away… keeps one on the edge of one’s seat :]

Haven't had material bombs, yet. (I take it that is an Oddyssey feature?)
But I had a few cases of diasppearing mats, recently. Here's a pic from before it disappeared:

Didn't take an after picture, as it would have been the same, just minus the crystals...

I am still on the same old moon, but it still has some nice vistas in store for me...

That probably hasn’t disappeared by being destroyed but by being blasted out of scanner range by the geyser that was erupting at the time you shot it loose, I have had many things vanish that way when I haven’t had the patience to wait for the eruption to stop on occasion I have found the extracted mineral lying on the surface when it eventually found its way back to the ground.

That was my guess, too. Although they never came down into scanner range again. These eruptions were very violent.
I suspect if a ship would have been in orbit at the right time and place, it would have had an interesting experience...

Active geysers can blast them completely out of range, but i’ve noticed a few just disappear recently after rolling a few metres out of SRV scanner range too… and i did look around the area for them - the targets were gone.

OK, this shotgun is pretty effective.

It's coupled with, on both my Dom CZ loadouts with an Aphelion (improved hip, range, stab, mag size) and a Zenith (stowed reload, headshot, mag size, stab).

The two suits differ only in night vision v. extra ammo cap. The former is for night manoeuvres, the latter for light side pewpew. The other suit mods are shield regen, battery cap and damage resist.

I'm not saying any of the above is the meta - I don't what is and, to be honest, not that bothered - but it's working for me. The last high CZ just now saw me not die once (but it got damn close a few times!) and an 8.8mCR bond payout. Which was nice.

Aaaanyway. As I've said before, I'm a wet lettuce when it comes to combat so I had to get all those upgrades and mods before I coiuld even begin to do this stuff. My skillz have improved but not that much. I suppose one aim would be do go into battle with an un-upgraded Art with no mods, and just a G1, unmodded P-15. Now that would be hard-man :D

Now then, to break stuff up a bit, I may do the Dav's thng for a bit. Just because nostalgia.
