Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm preparing my Krait for an exploration trip.
I'm thinking about a month or so.

Then.. I don't really know. I kind of reached the max on everything, so I will either delve into the Guardian stuff, or more probably will clear the save and start over, again. :)
That's what I did a few weeks ago - just started over. I actually find core mining to be very relaxing, while having one eye on a movie or YT video. Some hate the grind, but I don't mind at all.

...And we are done :)

...So now what?

I have decided to try the Anti-Xeno thing.
Just got a Chieftan and plan to use this build

Any comments?
I'd go long range on the D rated sensors so you can target stuff at range. Long range thermal vent on the beam.
That's a lot of cargo space for collectors, and you might need corrosion resistant cargo rack.
I'd got for the 6A power plant and armour and thermal spread it. You've made the ship too hot and the power plant is too fragile. If Interceptors or any Thargoid is shooting at you, you need 2, ideally 3 module reinforcements and (Guardian reinforcements if you have them) and an AFMU to repair them mid fight. I assume hard points are blank so you can choose weapons to suit mood and what you're fighting.

Following @CMDRQuainMarln's build for the Imperial Clipper, I realized that I had not unlocked the caustic sink launcher, so I figured bump it. I'll just do some regular Thargoid stuff.

Ran a passenger mission, then went ahead and took on some scout kill missions. Originally went in the Anaconda, but man what happened to scouts? Suddenly they're all over me to where I can't turn on them to fire.

So I went back and out of just wanting to try something new I picked up my Krait Mk II and threw everything from the Anaconda on it that I could.

I had completely forgotten how good the Krait Mk II can be. I had a blast killing 87 scouts in about an hour and 5 minutes.

Caustic sink launcher is a bit of a journey. Class 4 corrosion resistant cargo rack is essential to avoid losing your caustic tissue samples if the cargo rack malfunctions as they get flushed in to space. The its the 5 caustic tissue samples needed - xeno scan the caustic generators, sub target the port and launch a research limpet. Repeat 4 more times. Easier if you can store them on a carrier and not have to collect 5 at once. The Clipper is good at doing this. But a Krait MKII will do just fine too - as always.

I got the build from here
It's supposed to be for Thargoid Maelstrom Farming

I thought I would ease myself into Anti-xeno gradually ;)

Well that build is OK for Maelstrom farming except for caustic tissue samples that needs a corrosion resistant cargo rack. Don't try to do without this - see previous post. You do need to alter weapons and build depending on what you will fight.
Edit: Oh its D2EA. I usually agree with his advice, but I still think a massively overcharged power plant is a bad idea. You want heat below 20% if possible. I go as far as clean drive tuning on my Clipper for Maelstrom sneaking to keep it cold.

I'd go with building an Arty with added melee damage, combat movement speed, extra ammo cap and quieter footsteps (for hostile salad gathering). Then arm yourself with an L-6 with a noise suppressor.
For salad hunting I recommend fitting scope sights to everything that you take with you, it makes determining if that is just a funny rock on that distant ridge or a Spiralis peeking over it waiting to ambush you easier.

That all might as well have been in Greek.
Yeah, I've looked into it. I watched a few different guys doing it.

I kinda want to do it, but then again...it's such a pain.

I'm on the fence, I guess. It's not like I actually need caustic sinks for anything I normally do :)
This.
