Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

A guy answers his mobile. As he does so, an hideous tentacle monster materialises and sucks his brain out through his eye sockets.

It was the Phone Call of Cthulhu.

Nice one😂

I would have loved a Lovecraft / Howard crossover, in which Conan, facing normal people slowly degenerating under the influence of Cthulhu, decides to act as he always does when he investigates supranatural evils: by swinging one gigantic sword, yelling but in the 30s fantasy fashion...

Even Fonticula can be festive. :D

OMG, can you imagine how depressing that would be, I think I would quit playing. I use the carriers all the time, I think it's 12% of what you make, I never got around to buying a carrier, I enjoy the old-school risk and grind.
Back in 2016 there was a player group called the Obsidian? Wing who would try and escort explorers into the bubble through the high numbers of pirates at the rim. I think increased jump ranges were putting them out of business even before Fleet Carriers.

There used to be quite a few posts about loosing exploration and discoveries when trying to get back after a long trip out, including a few down to losing docking skills from lack of use.

I swear that even with a normal FSD-style FSD just flitting around systems is somehow... smoother, or makes more sense, or something, since 18.01. Did they maybe tweak how gravity wells are handled in general as well in prep for adding that FSD which makes them a gameplay thing again?

I just did a 10-body flyby type Grand Tour thing and it just seemed to come together more easily than usual.

After a month or so not playing, I also have that weird impression some details have changed since last time, but I am not sure if that is my brain tricking me.
There are those rectangular lights on my Aspx, I believe weren't present last time but I'm not so sure. Also, the sound seems different, just like someone tweaked ''per effect'' volume or something. Could be me gas lightning myself though...

I should be halfway home by now if I hadn't a died. Well I'm going to try rerigging my mobile home with lasers instead of missiles and go attack some schmucks and such. Killing seems to bring comfort

I figured it out, I rebooted the router/modem, doh!

P.S: Is that you're Vulture? I hate going up against those ships, very fast boost with imperial shields, I've learned to deal with them though.

Yes I have two now this is the Space Harpy v2 built in Colonia. With premium Coloniol parts!

I'd love to see some old videos from 2015-2021 or so, just to notice all the changes in the game... I'm sure it has had a lot of differences over the years, but being incremental, they're hard to notice and the memory of them fades.

A kindly couple of pilots escorted me back to Elvira Martuuk after I returned from a multi-month expedition to discover Star One. They joined a player group (which eventually became a squadron) a little later and thus I did too, which was my introduction to multiplayer play and online in-game friendship, a rather wonderful thing.
Of course the squadron later had a big falling-out but that's another matter entirely!!

Not tried it on anything lately, but if you can still scan things with it in an Anaconda without having to drop the shields and make contact with the target then they haven’t lost too much range.
I forgot to mention that I was talking about the scanner on the SRV - I rarely use the ship mounted comp scanner. Although even that felt kinda odd this morning.
Until now, it usually was the way that if I could just barely make out that there might be something in the distance, I would point the scanner at it and it would light up and scan the stuff if there actually was something. But this morning, I was already able to tell what it is what I saw before the scanner would react.
The difference would translate to reaching the object in approximately 3 minutes at about 7.5 m/s (before) versus 10 seconds at 5 m/s (now)...
