Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm also just wondering what are the farthest claimed systems out from the bubble at the moment...do any of you know?

I just returned from a trip to the "west" of the Bubble, went about 15KLy. I turned around just after crossing into Errant Marches region, right at the border with Formidine Rift.

There were no colonizations out that way. Once I was about 5-6kLy, there was nothing. I put my name on every system from there on out. It was more or less a straight line, so a narrow path, but it was void of any previous discoveries...and any Tectonicas!

When I decided I would head back, I happened upon a carrier in Outotl HM-B c14-4...[LGC] Niels' Astrolab (TBL-80j) Looks like he's still out there.

That was about 14.8kLy. So, I'm not sure much colonization, if any, is being done in that direction.

There's a little interactive map of colonization here --> https://nanushtol.github.io/ed-colonization-map/

It doesn't work on my phone, but it does on my PC with Chrome. The author said he used WebGL, which is apparently not supported by some browsers.

Anyway, it's fascinating. It appears to be up to date as of April 15.

I guess, from that map, the farthest system out is Col 69 Sector WR-E b14-1. At least that's what it looks like to me. Or maybe Col 69 Sector ZP-N C7-7.

I had to crawl back in but I couldn't let that Anaconda get away with chipping my windscreen. Particularly so close to its demise. Fortunately they're pretty big so HUDless targetting is less of an issue.

The Pilots Federation refuses to rank me up from Expert though. It's like the bar moves up 1/100th of a pixel with each outing.

And after two rebuys as well. One from three guys who did weird stuff I barely had time to escape from, and an FDL incident which caused me to get megashipped. I didn't even see the fire before the screen went dark.

That was from four outings because I have the Mandalay down in Gondul so I can switch between the CG and mat cheesery.

One thing about the Mandalay too, is that it seems unusually fast in supercruise. There's no other ship where I have to go under the default cruise speed for planetary landings. It approaches too fast otherwise and won't enter glide mode.

And yeah, I did notice my sys was empty....two metres from the landing pad.

I realize now that the Corsair is really just a Clipper with a smashed nose. Or an iCourier with growth hormones that didn't work right.

At least they added some hardpoints and fixed the convergence.

I'm spending too much time in this ship because I'm suddenly obsessed with merit mining. But the ship annoys me. It's the best for the job, but I don't really like flying it.

I considered switching to a Krait MKII, but...the SCO tuning is so much better in the new ships, and SCO has become essential to me.

None of the other new SCO-capable ships can be outfitted for mining, really. They are all too small internally, except for the T8, but that has crappy hardpoints. So it comes down to the Corsair.

Maybe I'll get used to it in time.

I'm trying to bask, but it ain't working too well. :p

Interesting, thanks for posting the link up. (y)

Col 69 Sector WR-E b14-1.
I typed that in on the Galactic map and it's 1,563.61 Ly's roughly out from the centre (I'm at Hip 90024, still prattling around my system, so that's where I'm measuring from).
Col 69 Sector...That's very roughly out to the Barnard's Loop area.

Looking at the in game galactic map again I found this inhabited system...
BLEIA EOHN TM-Z A68-4
Which going by the map is 2,137.48 Ly's out.
It's slightly difficult to judge, but this system looks like the tip at the moment for a push out to Colonia or Sag A?. 🤷‍♂️

Hum...just over 4 jumps in a carrier, a long haul methinks for some of those commodities needed.

I might have a nosey around that area on my way out of the bubble, I wasn't intending to go in that direction, but I suppose I could then cut across back to the Hawking's gap area maybe, I'll probably find something of interest, at any rate it's exploring innit! :D

Hi :)

😲...I'd briefly seen the distant world stuff on the forum but I'd never read / looked at it in depth, there's a ton of information there it seems...information overload! 😵‍💫...:D
Interesting point brought up by one of the posters though which I was considering myself (coincidently) only yesterday. Some commanders actually don't want any help with their station builds and have left them deliberately unfinished, but I think that's mainly to do with the Distant Worlds project participants...I'm not sure.
I very nearly offloaded some general surplus commodities randomly at a player's system build, but decided against it as the station was almost finished in that respect, and I started to consider this aspect of some system builds being deliberately unfinished. The system was well within the bubble, only probably two or three jumps away from one of my own system claims btw.
There's a special topic somewhere for players wanting help with builds, (I've posted there myself for help with my first station) so I'll have a look at that again before I travel out. I really, really need to lighten up my carrier, so if I can I'll dispose of stuff that way, if not I'll just sell it at some other station markets, or mission givers.

That's one of the good thing's about this game, lots of different stuff you can do 😎, I'm in the habit of looking for trade / mining missions at any station I dock at, different reasons for this, one of them is building up your rep with the different stations factions, more rep, better paying missions usually...one of the 'distractions' though, I sometimes run around like a chicken with it's head cut off!
Edit...And I've still got to exchange those A rated modules on the Corsair with some of my stored engineered ones!

The various Orion colonies can pretty much supply everything needed except for any exclusive to certain bubble systems/stations and the Trailblazer Megaships. I expect some of the other chains can do similar.

As for not completing colony builds for people, hmm!

If it is the primary port they might be waiting so that they can immediately claim their dream system when it completes and are trying to avoid snipers taking it from them.

If it is in an established colony they might have stopped because they think that build will change the colony in the wrong way in turns of what it can buy or sell.

It is complicated.

Hi :)

I wonder if Frontier consider 'Sniping' as a game loophole (And needs to be fixed somehow), or was Colonisation deliberately designed that way.🤷‍♂️
Talking of Colony's... I've just looked / noticed the population in my main claimed system (Hip 90024) has fairly recently risen to 7 million, I'm quite surprised, but I'm not sure why it's gone on the increase so much.

By the way, I talked to the author of that site, and he said he would update it with all the latest info. The current data is a couple months behind.

He said he has to generate the data himself, by doing a compare between the currently populated systems and a database of all systems that were populated before Colonization was a thing. He's kept that around, so that he can compare. Pretty smart.

I'm pretty sure that they intended it to be first-come, first-served.

I don't know how they could possibly prevent it anyway, because they'd have to somehow know the intent of the player(s).

"But I was only colonizing this system because I want that other one over there, and now someone else has it!"

They'd have to put in some sort of pre-claim system...I guess.

Too bad, so sad, I say. :p

Hi All :)

Okay, that's the Corsairs upgraded modules taken care of...I had in store enough engineered modules to ramp up the ships vital bits, and more.
It's now parked. Picked up some lucrative trade missions as I was doing this as well, I can't desist from accepting these while the factions are offering them at such high prices.🤑

Rather annoying instance yesterday evening, dropped off the final load of aluminium at my surface settlement, and of course was informed as usual to come back later to see the fruits of my labour.
So after a couple of hours I came back to the planet, initially docked at my planetary space port there and checked that the cartographic facility was active...no such luck, but I'll see if after this Thursdays tick it appears. So my trip out into the black is on hold for the moment, (there's a few other things to 'tidy up' until then so no problem).

I then went to the other side of the planet to see graphically what my new settlement looked like up close (randomly named Bennet Laboratory) . I flew quite close to the station in me ole' Cutter and realised the settlement was shooting at me!...Whut!? 😱

They awarded me a 1200 cr bounty for trespassing, which I thought was pretty &%&$ unreasonable as without my hard earned work building the $%*&^% place they wouldn't even exist!....what a load of ballet dancers!...and I told them so! 👿... I'd love to blast them and their flea ridden settlement off the face of the planet right now!
AND I'm going to send a pretty stern letter to Frontier asking for new weapons or missiles to accomplish this task, should surface installations turn rogue.😏
Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know WE don't technically own them, but I don't care!...I want revenge!

In the meantime back at the ranch...I paid off the bounty at my main port on the planet, and am now cashing in those trade missions I accepted earlier.
Interesting observation concerning my systems population btw, it was at 7 million, now it's jumped up again to 7.7 million......wish I could understand what's going on there?...but I must be doing something right. :)

If anybody's building stuff and would like some various *commodities dropping off let me know here, as I said earlier, I've got some stuff on my carrier I want to get rid of. I'll be heading out into the black later this week so the window is closing if you get my drift.

* 1190t of Steel, some other stuff in varying amounts, water, surface stabilizers, insulating membrane, power generators, polymers, land enrichment systems, robotics, medical diagnostic equipment, water purifiers, food cartridges, building fabs, survival equipment, 50t titanium, and a small Tesco's shopping bag full of Fruit & Veg. :D
Edit ...Commodities no longer available.

Time for Lunch! 🍕☕

Jack :)
