Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm still a little disappointed with the cargo capacity. Just me, probably
Oh, it's far from just you 😁

There's some not-so-quiet seething going on elsewhere.

Thinking about it, the biggest ship I've flown is the old Python, which is gently rusting away back in the bubble somewhere. So the Panther has little appeal for me, but good luck to those of you who like 'em big and beefy :)

Does anyone have advice on this scheme I saw somewhere:

"consider low emissions + monstered Powerplant to mitigate increased Titan SCO heat" - referring to the special pre-engineered SCO drives from tech brokers made using the Titan Drive component.

Does it work and does it have drawbacks? Presumably on ships that aren't designed around SCOs, so the old ones before Type 8 etc.

If the only drawback is less power then this sounds good for semi-explorers that aren't Mandalays: long-range traders; and everything short of combat ships.

At G1 you will actually get a fraction more power but by G5 Monstered is only going to be able to reduce the loss to 10%.

Yes sounds like something for the more inflammable of the older ships.

Going to sign up for the CG. I'll try my hand at some bounty hunting first.

Amazing how quickly a system can fall victim to a nasty case of carrier infestation! :D
I found the bounty offerings to be pretty weak. Particularly with no incentive to stay in the top 75%. You're probably better off making one contribution before heading off to a system were you're repped up for juicy bounty missions.

The trade CG is similar but you can at least make decent cash as a bonus if you're interested in this style of gameplay.

I'll probably leave both of these now unless I can maybe switch things up and try gallium mining.

Is Gallium mineable?
Somewhere I read that you would have to mine Gallite and get it refined by one of the new refinery contacts? into Gallium.

I made one contribution to the bounty hunting CG with one visit to the local Low RES I am now just in the top 25%, I may replace the Point Defence with an off the shelf KWS and find a more exacting location to hunt, but the ability to virtually one shot most targets was quite pleasant.

Woah, I tried that glide skipping thing and it worked first time. I definitely thought I was going to rebuy slam into the planet. Which I technically did but a mystical force unburied the Type-8 and put it back on the surface.

No Gallium though. ;_;

A nextdoor carrier had them at a markup but the profit was still nearly four times as much as I got with superconductors. That 8-9 million would double if stations had a supply.

I'd just have to be more careful not to kill before scanning next time because the KWS is on the multi-cannon group and some ships were very weak or damaged.

You might be right on the Gallite thing. It came up a lot in my search for Gallium.

I've just been doing a bit of core mining in the Corsair. I'm earning a bit of cash, a few merits, and enjoying the scenery.

Hi :)

I'm going to stick my neck out and say no. As you've probably guessed, I've done extensive mining and I can personally say I've never come across any.;)
I don't mind if someone tells me different though...it's all knowledge.
As for converting Gallite into Gallium?...quite possible, but I've only seen briefly the new refinery contacts but never actually used them so my knowledge there is practically zero, sorry 🤷‍♂️

Jack :)

I have a grade 4 Low emissions + Monstered power plant on my Ax Krait Mk2.
It still has plenty power, but keeps nice and cool in Thargoid combat, attacking Titans, or searching for titan components.
It's now gathering dust in the hangar, but quickly recommissioned if the Thargoids plan on making a comeback.

I'm still at this nav beacon for the CG. Actually had an elite pirate just now.

EDIT: Woohoo. Top 50%. Think I may stop now though.
I parked my carrier above the Haz Res in Bhutas, and did about 20 million in my 3 hour play session (which also included a cargo run for the other CG and some ship building) last night with mostly the Chief I built for the CG frags - those are mean and fun, and a frag Chief is savage. Good old bounty hunting CG is fun.

try going to jukagha check the mission board and ive found 2x kill 9 pirate mission in the aiaba system blue pirates are the target, go do the missions BUT HAND IN THE BOUNTY TO THE CG. then collect mission reward, check board may get lucky may not .also hydrae sector wj-r b4-4 may get kucky ,i have had a couple from there, havnt checked anymore but local systems often come up trumps .dont try wing missions not worh it.

The weekend is the busy time for CGs which could see you relegated that said the amount of credits lost dropping to the Top 75% is the lowest.

I am going to see if I can get up into the Top 25% club.
I am kind of baffled how easy it was to get into the 25% for bounty hunting, considering the CG has over 5000 participants now. Each ammo run with my frag Chief got me a few million in bounties, I also did a few runs in a dual Pacifier Vulture, which was fun but not as efficient.

I think I also like that they made the reward threshold more or less non-existent. This time, the contribution limit is "contribute" 😁, and getting into the 75% as in the last CG isn't really hard either for the additional rewards.

Except this time there are no additional non credit rewards for reaching the higher levels.
