Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

:D

So long as you switch them off you'd never know they were there until you need them. Trust me though you don't need three of them......unless you're doing anything like what's in the videos Alec just posted.

I'm curious about your heat sinks and lack of boost. You may squeeze some extra range if you dropped the HS and went with AFMU's to repair any damage....not that you're short on range[woah] but I've definitely been wondering about losing the boost ability and going with a 1D Power Distributor. I may have to have a play around.

Heat sinks is just my previous experiences.
I make a lot of mistakes.
But yeh, I could probably drop them.
The lack of boost is annoying when your in systems with stations, that's why I wanted to have a look at your build.
Oh Yeh, no boost means I fit a DC.

Just coming up to my 12k waypoint. Have to say I'm really enjoying it.
But...the shiny shiny distractions!:D

I used my AFMU so infrequently I could see how this could happen. So, bring you to a sudden stop or what? How much damage did that cause?

Usually 1-2% of hull and module damage. Nothing much if you do it once, but do it too often and you're going to feel it.

Plus the biggest indentive to HAVE an AFMU on board on longer trips (especially if you're using neutron boosts, which damage your FSD every time) is that once the FSD is low on itegrity enough (below 80%) it has a chance of randomly failing on you, which further damages your ship. Below 50% integrity you have about 1 in 4 chance that instead of a smooth hyperjump you'll end up in tumbles in normal space. It's really not something you want to experience. AFMU is a good idea for any trip longer than, say, 10kLY.

Doesn't sound like fun...probably did it myself a couple of times but don't remember. On my long trips my issues were occasionally getting too close to a star and getting ripped out of SC that way. Fixed things with the AFMU and got myself outta there each time. I agree, they are handy to have on trips longer than 'down the street, round the corner'.

A visit to Dav's. Back to Ray Gateway. Nice cargo mission to HIP 15062 and a great one back to Rothman Vista. The thing is, I'm seeing more chat since the update. Is it just me, or does there seem to be more freuquent and varied messages? An example of a new one on me below:

Which one is the new one? I've seen all those before, but not the comms server failure :D

Does Rothman Vista come with a government health warning on the outside? ;)

I just died to a white dwarf with about 200MCr of data on board. :D
Well, that's what you get for gaming at 5am.

So I guess instead ot returning to mining, I'm heading back out.

Hey ho. :)

The one about hearing that rattle again... a new one on me! I just seem to be noticing more chatter.

As for Rothman's, I'm glad I packed it in years ago - they were foul. Besides, my cockpit window is already murky without wafts of smoke flying around - get enough of that when scooping dangerously.
