Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

After a long, profitable trip from the Cat's Paw, I arrived at The Ghost of Jupiter. It's gorgeous purples, fuschias, and blues made for some great photos for the GMP. After grabbing some I set out to acquire my Krait II. I made the purchase and tooled around a bit in it to gather nearby systems' HGE mats, but switched back to the DBX as soon as I had what I needed for the trek to Johnson's crashed 'Conda for the data I needed, then it was off to the material traders and Deciat, where I retired the DBX. She was a good ship, and I won't forget my maiden vessel.

I went mining. Up to 97 refines now. I even used an abrasion blaster although I'm not sure it did much - just blew off a chunk of bauxite.

I was just in a standard asteroid cluster so, I think, for my next session, I'll try out one those ringed thingies around a planet.

I'll give the other mining weaponry a go and then scream and curse as to why they're not doing anything. Then I'll RTFM.

Once you get used to the ringed thingies you will need to start choosing between pretty Icy, Metallic etc. and then you will have to work out which of the grades is best, once you catch on to the explosive mining options some of that decision making becomes much less relevant.
Top tip based on my latest CEM session always take a ship you can defeat interdictions in there can be pirates waiting for you when you arrive in your selling system.

Percy Thrower CCCXXVI the introduction is through the engineer on Triton.
Don't you need to have unlocked Harry Wheatcroft and David Bellamy first?

Actually there is a perfectly fine team of engineers in the Beachgrove system for this.

Still wending my way homewards - now just 100 jumps to go. Still dropping in on geo POIs to fill up my mats storage with a view to doing some more engineering back in the Bubble. Not sure about a medium-term goal - whether to boost my Trade or Combat ranks; either way, I'll need to upgrade a ship or two.

Since mining is trading, I'm still tempted to give that a try but it looks like a lot of stuff to learn, given I've never done any kind of mining and I've never used a single limpet for any purpose.

And they say there's nothing to do in ED!

I usually don't mine in the same place twice, because I like seeing new sights. Today I found a Gas Giant with Ammonia based Life which had an icy ring around it. The ring contained Void Opals, so I dropped in to check things out.

For an icy ring, it was quite dark and spooky looking! But it makes an interesting and unobtrusive wallpaper for my computer, so I like it.

Some pirates came after me as usual. Those guys have some kind of 6th sense to always show up where I am. It was a wing of 3. But amazingly, this time, they did not approach but instead flew off and jumped away without bothering me at all. Maybe I had my mean face on :)

After the darkness of the ring, the station I wound up landing in to sell the opals was blindingly bright inside. Good thing I wear shades all the time. The Silver Surfer was holding up my Krait for me. Nice guy.

I always get my G5 overcharged Ha ha's from Capability Brown.

I have re-built my sidewinder to perform duties as a science vessel, studying the local fauna, which are in plentiful supply.
The Xeno scanner is of no value. Why it is available here i have no idea, but it can go in the shed 'til they arrive.I suspect that the same is true for the pulse wave scanner(i.e.no effect on lifeforms),but i'll give it a shot. The limpets, however, work fine,if you dont mind waiting ages for recovery. One thing for sure, you won't get rich quick with it, but it's for science, right?
And there's plenty of time to play with the camera.

LOL, I've never actually saw The Sidey's cargo scoop open. It's so adorably huge. Like a puppy with big paws and ears.
