Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I'm as susceptible as anyone else to the impulse to buckyball, but its like the argument about the optimal FSD jump range. The further i jump the more i miss in between.Or i switch to a different method and spend time which almost negates the value of loading up with long range fsd in the first place.I'm just having a Marvin moment

I like having the range; it enables me to pick an “area of operations” and get there in a reasonable time-frame. After that, I am always manually plotting the next objectives, or close to it, so I am not missing anything.

Though sometimes, I do just select “economic” as the route plot, and see what RNGesus bestows :)

The other reason I a like a long jump range is that I do like threading my way around the edges of the galaxy, visiting clusters and the like, so it enables me to reach places other FSD drives can’t reach ;)

I see what you're saying and I suppose my answer would be "everyone moves at a different pace". I personally don't like driving for miles to find a disappointing outcrop... although, some of the views en route can be stunning.
I agree, but i was in SC for most of it,trying to catch up with the forums.
I started with the big one at the end,21 probe gas giant, and worked my way in,intending to briefly land on each, arriving back at the re-fuel point.
15 minutes tops,i thought.How wrong i was.
I think working out probe patterns for larger bodies is going to be an ongoing project. :)
I'm not complaining tho, i loved every second of it. Maybe i hit a sweetspot.

A year after my last planetary (lunar?) circumnavigation, I figured it was time to do another:

Well im trying to do a alliance roleplay...
Yup! Alliance!

So i looked at the alliance ships and tried to come up with a fighter and a explorer build, and funny enough i had to use the Challenger as the figther and the Chieftain as the explorer, ke ke ke, so the slots fitted!
Planning to turn the crusader into a goid killer and later on get the T10 for... Cargo! Ke Ke Ke!

About to sign on and build a ship for our next PvP event.

We’re going to try unengineered Lakon trade ships this week.

T6, T7, T9, and Keelback. Saud Kruger ships may be making an appearance, too.

I’m sure it will be terrible, but after a few drinks I expect to be having a great time.

Anyone is welcome to drop by to goof off with us, and details will be posted on discord shortly. For any Xbox people here, the link is in the sig.

I've been jumping around the bubble doing some entry level engineering (level 2-3 maximum I can get). Flying around in a max jump range Phantom to unlock engineers (almost died one when I did an accidental lithobreaking on a 1.6g planet after my 4D thrusters couldn't break my trajectory in time). Considering upgrading thrusters but they would take a big hit I jump range.

Outfitted my chieftain for deep core hull tank mining (engineering reactive surface composites and the military slots). Only 64 slots but I usually enjoy shorter trips, this may be enough for my "just want a quick cash injection before I do X".

All related to this, I just signed up for a power to get the pacifiers. I know I need 4 weeks, but haven't quite understood how to get merits yet. Is this power all combat or can you deliver supplies for the 750 merits?

Enjoying my race to King runs at the moment. The double and triple interdictions are keeping me on my toes! That's what you get for carrying a stack of 20 missions per return journey, I suppose :D They love a palladium or gold bar, this lot.

However.

I was just interrupted by having to clear blood stains from the carpet.

Our Amazonian princess of a cat decided it was her duty to supply food for her tribe and so, whilst running one of the abovementioned exciting mission runs, I heard a very loud squawking. It got louder and stopped. I delivered my missions and went to see what had occurred. For my delictation and delay in getting to the disturbance, I was presented with a very proud feline and the dead mess of a parakeet.

The other cat was sitting nearby in bemusement, collecting fairy dust and wondering if the sparkly stars of unicorn tracks would appear soon.
