Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I am still making my way back to the bubble. Once again I had to manually navigate to a main sequence star to refuel because my route kept taking me to a bunch of brown dwarfs. I think there is a bug that when you leave the game and then come back in again when it recalculates your route, it doesn't make sure you hit the refueling stars at an appropriate time.
Route plotter is pretty sketchy sometimes, but if you play about with it a bit you can often take chunks out of it's projections.Sometimes it's worth jumping to the nearest star and replotting.Of course,it works the other way too so ymmv. :)
P.S. Nice looking boat, Para Handy.I wonder if it could be built of lego?

Everything from full size houses to well almost anything else can and has been built out of Lego though getting the steam engine and boiler of the puffer working might be a tad tricky.

If I had the space (and time and skill) I would love one of these in a display case on the lounge wall:

(.... perhaps even the Highlander or Sealight from Mountfleet - but they are even bigger. )

Or this one?

Definitely more in my price range. ;)

... and at 8.2 mm is a bit less demanding of space than the 660mm North Light.

Looks impressive for a paper / card model doesn't it?
They do nowadays, I have seen the USS Discovery and one of its pods as well as the other vehicles and station from 2001 A Space Odyssey and much else besides that look incredible if you have the skill.

Should point out that it is 8.2 centimetres so slightly more intrusive but at least you wouldn't need a magnifier to see the detail.

Currently on a prolonged Survey Campaign in the Galactic Sector The Void.
As opposed to other trips, this one is a long-term Campaign, lasting minimum until 2020 (waiting for Carriers basically).

Practically, I have no idea when I'll return to inhabited Space, so my TEV Aurora (Exploration Anaconda) has been re-designed to attain a 70LY Jumprange Milestone - all while retaining most of its original Utility, carry an extra 16t Fuel Tank, reasonable Shields and remain fully Weaponized.
Not too shabby and the Vessel's performance still meets or exceeds all expectations for the intended long-term autonomous Operations some 50000LY from SOL, that's precisely what it was always built for.

With 4.5B in cash, Credits aren't a factor anymore, so it's an "expedited Survey". At best, Terraformable Water Worlds get Mapped, otherwise only Ammonia Worlds and ELWs.
And as opposed to previous Campaigns often cherry-picking by Star Class, only the "Visited Systems" Filter is now used.
Just scanning as it comes along regardless of Star Class this time.

As a Bonus, I already managed to squeeze in a Codex 1st Discovery for The Void today and have clocked in a few ELWs so far.
Can't complain about that, should keep me busy until new stuff is released I can dig into - if not I'm simply staying out there in the void - literally :)

LOL I stuck a decimal point in there by mistake - I meant to write 82 mm - duh! (A sub-cm model would be very tricky to make I think.)

After celebrating my safe arrival back in the colonia region, i switched to the scout,re-purposed for a short(ish) trip over to visit a new(to me) type of mollusc, which i found in the codex, this time kitted out properly with the research limpet controller.
I thought i'd save some time by using Neutron jumps, but the degradation to the fsd means exercising some self control. From past experiences, the FSD starts to malfunction at about 80% integrity, and im currently at 94% and two thirds of the way there.Normally i'd be carrying an afmu, but i ditched it to make way for an srv bay,so as ever, my beloved scout lives up to my expectations that it's always a slot short and yet somehow manages to get the job done. :giggle:

I could see someone walking into the LEGOs store..."Excuse me, I need 27 Million Legos please!"

((Pulls 139 page list out of binder))

"Here is my list of parts...how long do you think it will take to get them ready for me?"

I'm engineering my Mamba. Not sure why exacty but I have a vague notion of using it in an HRES at some point. Probably won't take it all to G5.

However, that "lost bleuprint" bug is hitting me again so I need to revisit some engi's to re-pin stuff

Arrived at my destination to discover not a single NSP.Somehow i must have pressed the wrong button when selecting a target from the codex.Or perhaps on the way here i seleted the wrong bookmark.
Anyway, something is here ,because there is a tourist beacon and signs of human on the big planet, together with five biological sites.
It's a pretty looking planet, somewhere in the midrange violet on the visible spectrum, and i throttle zero to admire the view, before firing off the probes.
Probes successfully deployed,i select an approach to a dayside target, throttle up gently and begin my descent.

It was not until we were transitioned into the relative calm of the glide that i decided to check the message from the beacon. It was quite short and roughly translated said 'oops'.

At this point i began evasive manoeuvres, and it was touch and go for a couple of minutes, top speed 917,heat 260.

Fortunately,i'd packed heaties, which helped, and we kind of wrestled into an acceptable recovery vector 441 meters above the unforgiving terrain below.Deinitely an hostile event horizon.

I never did find out what the bio signs were. Next time i visit i hope to be more suitably dressed for the occassion.

The whole event has borked the fsd.Gotta limp home now, counting my blessings i'm not a strawberry pancake.
I'm still gonna count it as a win, tho'. :giggle:

WD,FD, that's gameplay!

On a side note... I just updated Windows 10 to v.1903 without any hitches (yet)!
You have a better version of windows 10 now, make sure you set all the auto updates to off.(in the settings section)
And only do updates when you have the time, not when windows thinks it is necessary. About once every two months works for me.

Definitely! +1

The trouble I've had with updates... and nearly all the "remedies" given on t'internet failed. In the end, I had to download an ISO image and have the standalone updater run the install.

Same here, local guys kind enough to get an ISO disk, had to install a new 1Tb drive , lucky I can have two drives in the laptop. I can still get all the old data.
The trouble this fat operating system causes. Some our bigger retailers are still selling 1803 to new unsuspecting customers.

....gathering mats at HIP, nearly lost my SRV on a spike....imagine the sounds of a cursing docker.... whiggled and cursed for an eternity and suddenly FREE again.... pheeeeew!!!.... That was the good news. Mental note to self: Get that bigger hangar and always collect and explore with a backup SRV! LOL

The bad news, my intention to get a dedicated PC/Hotas this month went Kabooom, up in smoke, due to unforeseen circumstances. Being stuck with the xbox now sucks big times, but well, there are more important things in life than gaming of course. Mental note to self: Enjoy the beach, tourists all gone. :)

P.S. tried to figure out what makes mats stick to the spikes, whether there is any logic to it. Not conclusive to me so far.
