Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I did the Guardian FSD booster unlock. It wasn't too bad of a grind, and the skimmers made it fun. In the end it was worth it because it gave my Corvette a decent jump range, and my Asp Explorer that I am currently flying will jump 62 LY. It made the 5000 LY run to unlock Professor Palin a little easier.

I'm currently about 15 jumps away from my home base at Sol. After I get back there I plan to grab my Python and head out to get the Thargoid fragments for Palin.

Just out of curiosity...

What are you guys "working" on at present?

I've just hauled my sorry behind to
Seos (yay, I got learnec in scooping) so I can hop back and forth to
Sothis for Sirius Corp faction.

I'm just interested so it gives me ideas for future ventures.

(although I now prefet "The Rimmer" - @@@O - brilliant :D )
Just mining my Double Painite Hot Spot with my 576T Engineered Cutter at 750 Million Credits a pop, balance currently 20+ Billion. Eventually I will have enough to allow me to take my fully engineered Combat ready Federal Corvette into open play, and start my revenge fest on all those players that think it's fun to destroy new players in their small un-engineered ships (happened to me many times when I first started playing, nearly packed it in), time for the Marshal too ride into town, can't wait... and I will have lots of re-buys just in case I fail a few times.

I've been jumping around in the bubble unlocking engineering. Been checking out Lave for Didi's brandy but no luck yet. Did unlock Liz, which I don't care about, but leveled her rep to meet the next two. Fulfilled meeting requirements and now just gonna unlock them. That'll let me do PP and PD.

Flying around I've been checking most systems for high grade emmisions, so been gathering materials from those too.

Be careful out there, it is a misconception to think that just because you have a corvette armed and engineered to the teeth, that this will have you go on a PvP rampage, it doesn't.

Currently doing the CG/II, always enjoy them when it's a mix of trade and combat.
Needed a change, so I ordered the T-9 core miner over, nice chill session, good payout.
I don't do it for the money, I just really enjoy throwing the T-9 around. :D
I need to have a look at that. I've been getting engineering done to where I want to do something else and try it out in combat. Continue my core mining is also on the menu... I also have a goal to find a 2+ void opals hotspot and start doing a 2D map of it, marking coordinates for each core I find.

Getting increasingly tired of that xbox controller, so very very limitting in terms of flight management, just not my cup of tea. If the upcoming xbox would have an option to add 3rd party joysticks, that would be the biggest selling point, actually the number 1 selling point to me.

After many days of relentless rain, there is sunshine out there, parking AspX, off to the beach....

Imperial Rank.
Finally decided, yes, I will have a Cutter please.
After a bit of Google-fu, found this:
HIP 8444 to HIP 8758. Pretty good, needs a medium pad ship, Python is ideal.
Easy to max out missions from HIP 8444, backhaul not so much.
Both systems currently boom.

Commander Speedcuffs, we've created a false identity for you, no need to be embarrassed about doing business with the Imperial work-shy fops.
You probably should visit a tailor and get a decent bouffant, don't want you to stand out!

I shall remember that if I ever find myself in an Imperial system. I've been dragging around one of those intel packages you get for data-scanning stuff - worth a few thousand credits to an Imperial, apparently. Not enough to make a special visit, but I'm adding more of 'em on the current circumnavigation, which is throwing up space junk on an hourly basis.

This is exactly the two systems I used to reach King. Claimed rep on every run for less cash but still made a lot. HIP 8444 was often paying 10m for 180 palladium so take a good hauling medium ship.

Stack those missions!

Update: Three hours, done.
Ranked silly fast, got reasonable pay. Probably would have been faster, but I couldn't resist the G5 mats. :D

Hi ho, it's off to Shin I go!

Back from HIP. Bins with Raw mats filled after a few days of grinding. Personal experience after that trip, distances above 30 jumps are.... grinding. LOL Geeze.... I feel like an old moaner, I am not, however, them mats getting stuck on spikes.... bloody in hell. I could have... that whole damn and _ without hesitation. RATED PEGI +50 ;)

I've taken my Phantom out (again) and set my galmap to filter out explored stars. There's a widening sphere around Shin that has seen my sorry behind already so I have travel a little further to find stuff.

Only one TWW so far.

Not sure how long this will last but it's a nice distraction to running cargo deliveries.

I also got under the bonnet of the FdL and tweaked it a little. Had some G5 cleans drives in storage so it has those until I re-engineer them.

I now have 4 ships fitted for HRES combat that I never seem to do. Ah well.

One other thing I almost tried before taking off to explore was tooling up the Beluga so I could run hospitality as a mobile B&B. Then I decided not to as some of those big payout missions would have me pandering to over-rich spoilt brats.

Thargoids and shift working are getting me down.

The shift working is hacking me off as the Elite based novel has stalled at 100k words - don't get as much free time to hack at it as I did on the 9 to 5.....

Thargoids? Bah!

Scouts are normally no problem - they die in waves beneath the quad AX multicannons of my Krait Phantom, but the Interceptors are a different matter and the Krait with regular AX weapons couldn't hack it (in my hands).

So I brought the Corvette down to Electra in all its G5 powered, distributed, shielded and armoured glory and tested it out on a pair of NHSS 3 scouts before taking on a Basilisk. The piddly scouts (1 berserker, 1 marauder) stripped my shields bare and hull down to 80% before I nailed them both and limped off for repairs.
I need a radical rethink on how I arm this Corvette for AX duties. Couldn't hit anything with the dumbfire AX missiles and as you're only allowed 4 AX placements, the remaining 2 turretted multicannons proved utterly ineffective when compared with the Krait's alien shredding performance.

I think the 5G approach beckons - Google, Guardian Grind, Git Gud.....

Switched out to the DBX intending to take the long way back to finally see if i can sort out a GFSD,something i've been putting off doing ever since they were introduced.
However, the ship had other ideas, and we're now 1500 odd light years 'west' and travelling in the opposite direction. So i gave her her head, and she pointed me toward a rather magnificent ball of dust a little way further along and we arrived at the base of it this evening.
Tomorrow we will begin quartering it on econ mode(seems to be about 38 jumps high).I did stumble on the sign of another traveller but he (or she) must have been going somewhere else because our paths only crossed the once.Still, it's nice to see the occasional trail of another to remind us it's a shared universe.
We're landed now on an icy body watching the geysers venting. No scarab,so i sha'nt be out to play, instead i shall check the codex for signs of life in the vicinity, maybe have a punt at a new sector.I really have no idea where i'm heading! :giggle:
