Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

At least switch the sensors to anything else than E-rated.
A-rated for best detection range, D-rated for a bit better jump range.

Oops! Missed the sensors!

It does look pretty though :)

This is my build so far - Need to tweak the Engineering, as I ran out of mats.

Any comments?

Took it out for a spin, and not too bad. Got moaned at by ATC for loitering, but didnt hit anything!
Looks like a workable build to me. Sensors have already been mentioned. :)

I personally would put Reinforced with Hi-Cap on the shield, to get better protection overall. You're obviously not planning to fight back but extra shields is always good to give you more escape time.

Have fun with it.

When mining for the Selene Jean unlock, remember 2 things.

1) It doesn't matter to her what you mine, and you don't have to sell it, so just shoot every rock and refine everything, tossing out the trash stuff, until you've done your 500 tons.
2) She'll want 10 T of Painite next, so you might as well mine in a place where Painite is found. You'll probably get 10 T of it during the process (just be sure to keep it).

If I may?

Depending on where you want to mine, you won't need the fuel scoop - and you can step down one shield size without too much trouble, especially if you envisioned D rated shields in the first place. That gives you another cargo rack, and a larger refinery. Swap in a size 3 (2 limpets) prospector controller, and put one of those newfangled multi-limpet mining controllers in (even if you only use it for collectors, that'll give you another 2 collector limpets over the regular collector controller - pity you can only fit one of them).
Since I ran out of ideas for the size 2 slot (if you were to go for profit, I'd put the refinery in there - 6 slots is enough to make money), I slapped in a small scoop - just in case you run out and don't want to wait for the rats.
All of that lets you skip down the powerplant by two sizes, even without engineering.
And don't worry about the reduced lifetime of the löimpets from the multicontroller - you should still be able to fill her up faster than you go through the limpets.

The main engineering tweaks need to be adding special effects.

As has been said get rid of the E rated sensors, the only excuse for them is when you are selling the ship to minimise the losses involved.

I would play around with adding a size 1 mining laser with the idea of when the weapons capacitor empties the rock should be depleted.

When you are dumping the refined rubbish you need to pay attention to how you do it in order that your limpets don’t bring it back, or you can flag it to be ignored.

Finally cracked a billion of liquid cash.

Totally had this in assets for a while, just never seen that extra digit on my bank balance before 😹

And I know it's "not much" in real player terms, but I have no ambitions for a fleet carrier, and this is just a nice milestone to stay I can probably stop worrying about my cash flow now. Possibly forever.

Or until the Panther Clipper arrives and costs 500 million, plus parts.

The moment you stop paying attention to the balance will be the moment when your credits increase quickly!

It's funny. Although I'm not really in need of credits, I love making more. May have mentioned this before but, to me, it's a way of "keeping score" and I feel like I've achieved something if I make a lot.

Besides, I do have a FC that sucks money like a whale chowing down on plankton what with upkeep and tritium.

Also... there's Elite IV then V in trade to get. If I sell enough mined stuff, I'll get loadsa money while ranking up.

It's just greed :D

Oof.

Power cut. Thought those went out with the miners strikes back in the seventies :poop:

PC didn't like it much. Nor did my internet connection. ED wasn't amused either. I thought it ironic as I'm trying to change my forum email address as well as my Frontier billing address... coincidental quantum flux capacitors and reality failure all conspiring against me!

You should invest in some UPSs for the computer and router.
Power cuts might become more of a thing global warming is supposed to lead to more storms and they probably have to shut down wind turbines in high winds to avoid the blades coming off.

Brownout! 💩

I haven't played much ED the last couple of weeks because I got sucked back into Dyson Sphere Program. Although it's still in Early Access, it is an incredible game that could easily be released as is, but the devs are just not done making cool stuff happen.

I won't go into detail here because this is the ED forum, but if you like building/factory games at all, this one is amazingly good. I have 537 hours in it according to steam, and I'm still playing it. They put a few new features in recently, so I started a new game and thus my temporary absence from ED :p

Here's a very small part of the factory I'm working on. The visuals in the game are outstanding.

Hmm.

Not sure these covert: theft missions are for me. I had to give one up. To get into one building I needed level one access. OK, got that from a tech. Got in and there's a door to the PROC section that needs level 2. Was there a level 2 tech anywhere? Yes, inside the PWR building accessible via the PROC only.

To add to the difficulty, there was a commado patrolling the corridor - so I presume he would need to die - and the PWR centre needed level 3 access.

I be missing something.
