Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I typically just graze the star as I fly past on my way to the next jump, when I'm traveling distance (multiple jumps). Even at 56LY max per jump in mine, I only have to stop to fully refill after every 6 or 7 jumps...
I do the same. The DBX makes me stop about every 12 jumps. I never stop in any other ship I explore in. They scoop fast enough to where it's not needed.

Even with a more effective scoop I usually hit the brakes a moment to check the FSS signal count and variety shrug. I was sure my diamondback was the most boring ship in my fleet, more boring than the adder (which I took for a revival landmine recovery mission this morning!). It grew on me over time. Personally, my singular primary complaint of the Diamondback at this stage of my newb perception, is the single seat.

As to the more pressing topic of what we're REALLY up to, I strolled up to the frontlines desk of hard knocks the past couple of days and made a couple of mercenary ranks up.

Hey, not so fast there Jared!

VICTORY

In fact I took the Adder out this morning to finally slap a coat of yellow paint on it to match its contemporaries (Millenium Dolphin used yellow matching the original Sidewinder and the taxi paint job on the dolphin). But what I mean to say is, I was doing that to take a screenshot and make it look so fine in the Inara fleet page, much nicer than the built-in shipyard list with default paint jobs (I did put that in the suggestions thread, show correct paint jobs). So cool!!

I didn't even realize there were different kinds. I figured a tech broker is a tech broker.

At any rate, all's well that ends well. The old Phantom is up to 71 LY jump range now.

Based on your earlier link for your ship you got to the 71ly mark by adding mass manager effect too 👍
The only "regular" engineered class 5 FSD I use is in Colonia in a Python that only needs to travel up to 90ly per trip as that's the size of the Colonia mini bubble of inhabited systems. Massive jump ranges don't matter to do business in that area.

How are you doing it, refill completely at each star then jump?

Agreed, that's the best way with such a tiny Fuel Scoop, if many bodies to identify, accelerate until max scooping, then reduce speed and scan bodies as required if undiscovered.
If no bodies to scan after first honk or all are already discovered (with Cmdr names), I am not interested and jump immediately to next star without scooping at all (you can do almost infinite jumps at 'most economic' jump as I do just a complete 50LY sphere around my FC.

If they are mostly discovered already, simply move FC on.

My favorite thing about Colonia: Jail is only one jump away...
