Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Congrats. Very impressive.

I gave up on those some time ago. I think I have 4. The only mod that I can't get without that engineer is headshot damage, anyway, which is not something I care about in this game.
I want the headshot for my AR-50 but it's hardly a necessary mod. I think I'm just OCD at wanting all engineers unlocked :D

However, you don't need the Hero-->Wellington-->Uma line to get it if you're in Colonia. From what I can make out, it seemd easier to get that mod out there.

Well, I got all of mine from the CMD buildings in settlements but I think they are sometimes given out in irregular markers. They are a pain though.

I wasn't out specifically to grind them - they sort of got collected organically as it were. The last one, though, was a grind and it was a repetitive trip to military type bases doing power-on's.

A lot of luck is the best advice I can offer...
Cool, thanks. I was indeed upgrading a couple of suits in Colonia and more or less ok with a couple of G4 and even one G5. Then the plan is to naturally gather stuff and at some point unlocking the remaining engi in the Bubble, so no hurry.

That's a big one, grats! Heard SDPs are the worst. Any hints on getting them except of being prepared for it taking a while?
The way I did it was like this. It can still take a while, but it's a great deal faster than any other method I tried!

Go to a system that has War/Civil War. Dock at a starport and look in the ship-based missions for 'Surface Recovery of...' missions:

It's not always landmines, sometimes it's bootleg liquor or something else. Take the mission(s). When you get to the destination, the POI will be one of several layouts. The one you want is 'Minor Wreckage'. Sometimes (not always) when you land, there will be two crashed skimmers there. Once you've found them, don't collect the mission cargo; each skimmer will have a data port. Check each one, then relog. It took me seven goes first time round to find the correct type of POI, but after that, I had all the SDPs I needed after a (painfully tedious) two-three hours of relogging. You also get plenty of other useful data too. Once you've got what you need, you can pick up the mission cargo and be on your way.

Best of luck! o7

Nice, in fact i don't think i ever tried those missions. I'll surely have to try them at some point, now that i see it i think i heard somewhere of these skimmers too.

I wandered aimlessly out a ways a couple of days, then by yesterday, had naively wandered back into the nav becons

Feeling a bit without a caper since the Thargoids are so hot and bothered. I began initial work on a hardened second generation getaway Dolphin to do some formerly theorized xenological tours in, but, they are just so durn mad right now. I have decided to set out for the frigid mollusks I discovered near Norma Expanse. I am curious if the data on inara and I uploaded that one trip to ED Astro or something, has already led to revisits and surface scans. Buh bye for now, bubble!

Further perusal of the journal files I cobbled together from a few computers led to a couple of humorous recollections. My original sidewinder before the original loss running out of gas in the pilot federation, had the caps lock on, gEORGE FOREMAN GRILL 1. Its successor went to 2 in all caps and remains #2 beyond its various subsequent demises. Most recently a few months ago when I got access to Founder's World, I took the GFG-2, PK'd immediately upon arrival haha. That almost deserves making it #3 now. Excuse the soliloquy the other funny tidbit was that my Adder, the L'il Bertha, was originally named MEDIUM BERTHA. At the time, it was larger than the Sidewinder, and yet, I just knew, I would own some bigger ships yet.. ha ha parks beluga on top

I've stolen so many g-meds and other medical supplies and pased them over to hospitals, the good doctor at the local station said he would give me a free face lift if I wanted it. I did.

The glases are just an affectation.

Though, as a ward against interdiction - why, no self respecting pirate would punch the interdict button and face a commander wearing glasses! Would they?

It's lonely out here. I think that's why I like it.

The first Stratum Tectonicas I've found this trip. It's unremarkable yet is worth more than any other plant. I scanned it.

Tussock Pinnatus...it looks flimsy, but it is not. It is impossible to drive an SRV through those tall stalks. You can go through the leafy parts, but not those stalks.

This shot makes it appear that I'm moving very fast. In fact I'm standing still, with the front of my SRV against one of those stalks. I've got full throttle on and the wheels are spinning and kicking up dust!

5 mil in exo data turned in today. It raised my rank by nothing I could measure. :)

Continuing my deep dive below the galactic plane, I realise that I've kind of gravitated horizontally back towards the bubble such that I'm actually closer now than when I decided to change direction 😹

Still, found this sparkly snowball world with a nice view. It's been discovered before, but never mapped, so still worth some credits from UC.

Also found this curious arrangement: lower left is a tiny moon with 1.05 atmospheric pressures. It is of course unlandable. The parent body has a tenuous atmosphere and some bio signs, and is landable. Think this is the first time I've found them this way around 😸

Glad I went with improved battery cap on my new Dom... whew, that was an intense CZ in searing heat which really put a strain on the suit. The Aphelion and Oppressor combo is working quite nicely too.

I must learn grenade management though.

Edit: 2nd CZ won this morning and I really am mobile infantry now... do you get me? Medic!

☝️ - Proceeds from my first mining run in my new T9...total cargo space is 576.

I threw out probably 100 or so limpets along the way...maybe more...

The Osmium and Gallite were sold at Glorious Prospect, but didn't support the CG...the rest I jumped around the bubble to get best prices where there were large landing pads but not at carriers...

These were gathered in about 4 hours of mining the inner ring of LFT 165 4, random drop into the ring, not at a hotspot...

Sooo... the game decided, upon launch from a 1.6g planet... to completely randomise my mouse controls. Or maybe it just suddenly got hypersensitive, I don't know. Either way, I no longer had control of my ship. I couldn't point it in any direction consistently.

Hit the ground. Exploded.

Weeks of travel time, 55 million of exploration data, 1.5 million in codex discoveries, unknown amounts of bio data.

Gone. Progress erased by a bug.

Sure, I have the photo journal, and I guess I have the materials gathered, but... it was all meant to be progressing towards faction rep and bio ranking thingy. I can't think of the word right now, I'm so angry. This has been so much time invested to have it removed in such a way.

Might be done with this game, at least for a while. I will submit a support ticket and see if there is anything they can do to reset me. I'm just... incredibly frustrated.

Did you accidentally turn off Flight Assist?

I find FA Off to be very difficult with a mouse...
