Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Gosh. 6.9mCR for my last CZ - my PB so far.
8.2m this time... just two high on-foot CZ's covers my FC UC

Yeah. That doubling of the XP every level is a real gut punch, isn't it?

The XP I have right now on Taxonomist would take you all the way from new player starting at zero to Cataloguer. It's mind boggling.

The other issue is that the only really valuable biologic I've ever come across is Stratum. It can run in the mid 800 thousands. I've never come across anything else even close.
Biologicals from most recent planet.

No joy at Upsilon Thingymebob I'm afraid. I couldn't even find the lava spouts, never mind the Crystalline that supposedly has the arsenic and other mats. The tourist beacon is still there but not a lot for them to see now by the look of it.

There were quite a few fragments lying around though so I suspect this place was completely prospected out years ago by other commanders, especially as it was mentioned on Youtube so I think I'll go back to a raw mat trader.

In my continuing passive apex shopping and idling voyage, the luck went up. I got some new guns including the oppressor which lays down plasma wads haha it's like being a fireman pshhhh. And a scoped Eclipse and Aphelion that I have not tried yet. But I wonder if they will be of no use in the case of alien invasion. ESPECIALLY CONCERNED ABOUT TRIFFIDS.

On that note, I passed up an Artemis suit with Extra Ammo Capacity in the shop earlier. This may be important in the near future. What if the anomalies are from the tussocks?

Meanwhile the Apex rides tend to have me typing long dumb messages.. I'll have to work on that

I can't imagine not having a keyboard

Well yeah I use the keyboard as well, and just reach forward and push the buttons. It's nice and reminds to stretch the hands out sometimes. Just like the holo-me (provided one retains the hand automations setting anyway, disabling which can lead to holo-me carpal tunnel).

My favorite is putting the -100,-75,-50,-25,25,50,75,100 throttle positions on F1-F8 (and X is zero I think that's built in or I forget). I use those constantly. I really am not too dissatisfied,

But the last standup joystick I owned was for Atari 2600; you could def. say I don't know what I'm talkin about or missing. But it's a pretty comfy setup

I wish you could refurbish degraded power regulators

Oh yeah maybe trade em in at Pioneer that way, just like taking your old batteries back to the auto parts store on old earth!

I was more thinking about your comment that you can't/don't want to fly your ship via the arrow keys. You can map the flight/thrust controls to anywhere on the keyboard (ok, anywhere that sends a code to the PC; shift or ctrl only probably would not work). I admit, though, that a keyboard remap is a lot of work, since just when you're selecting the last key of your careful layout, you'll get a popup saying "key ... is already used for .... Are you sure you want to change that?".

Here is one that might work: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?l=german&id=478686362
The concept may be valid for other commanders, but I have no luck in finding a spot on my keyboard that would not require some contortion of my fingers. Might be that a neglected tendosynovitis which every once in a while comes back to bite me plays a role in this issue.

Did you map the planet/moon with a Detailed Surface Scanner, before you landed?
This would give you some selectable Points Of Interest, which makes it quite a lot easier to find those places...

Well, I have plotted a course for Agartha to get my Fleet Carrier as I now have enough credits to get it, outfit it and have a few hundred million left over.

I'll be exploring along the way, so I might not make it today, but will tomorrow I'm pretty sure.
If you're in a rush, the neutron plotter cuts a 72 jump journey back to the bubble down to 56 jumps plus diversions for fuel. That is assuming your ship's jump range is around 70ly. If I remember correctly your Phantom is a bit over that.

Found a ringed waterworld, rather striking and worth a nice price for the scan.

Discovered a ringed landable, just over 2Gs. I went down to take a look. It was rather unique.

For the last 10 days of my expedition I've decided to seek good photo opportunities like the above and push up my exploration rank toward Elite III. I doubt I'll make Elite III, but we'll see. I am visiting as many F, A and K class stars in my area as I can find and already found two WWs and a previously discovered but unmapped ELW.

I'm in no particular rush. Figured it would take a day or two to get there depending on how much I discover along the way.

Thanks for the offer though.

I do my material gathering in Horizons (that's the 3.8 version btw) - Oddity really mucked-up gathering raw mats and Dav's Hope is "hopeless" in EDO for example.
Ah, ok thanks. I might give that a try. I have successfully found a few things with prospecting in Odyssey when I've been out on exploring expeditions, but much of the time it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

This is the only way to gather materials.

I've done it twice and have several ships fully engineered.

Gotta have AFMU's for Nutron jumping, it would be foolish otherwise. Hey Gomez, you'll have to let me hitch a ride with you, maybe back to Colonia, that's my home base at Jaques Station, maybe I could pitch in some moola for Tritium (all contingent when I get back to the bubble).

I've never been there. Had no plans on going anytime soon.

You're free to ride anywhere I'm going though. That goes for all of you. Thanks for all the help over these last 6 months that got me to this point.
I won't be back to the bubble for a while, I'm currently circumnavigating the galaxy. If you're going halfway, whatever, never rode on a carrier while under way FSD jumping.
