What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Progress

Increased habitat for flamingos. I also renovated the covered pool in the back.

Exterior of the desert house. I need to build an entrance and then decorate the outside with foliage.

Camels, meerkats & gemsboks. In the middle there's a "camp in the middle of oasis" scene. The tent is from the workshop. It was a nice spot to fill with some scenery and add more foliage because the habitats are barren.

Capuchin habitat with shops. There are going to be sleeping/hiding spots in the cafe itself, but the monkeys will also have a private space in the back where they can hide from the guests. The brown box in the middle marks the spot for a tropical tree. It's perfectly aligned with the walls so that the roof will be easier to make. I don't need another desert house fiasco. :D The exterior of the building will look fairly simple, but the inside is going to be tropical and decorated with themed pieces.

I really like the Fence in the second Interior Picture of the Desert House. All of it is great. I love how perfectly everything blends together in the last Picture of it

I hate my seal / ex-penguin enclosure :cautious: Why am I so bad at these?

I consider demolishing it and just waiting for the pack now to start with the sea lion enclosure and re-building the seal enclosure and one for the african penguins afterwards. Don't know when I can play again, though. I'm telling you, this earning-money-instead-of-gaming thing is particularly annoying ever since we got the NA pack announcement.

I know I'm going to be using the North American animals in several zoos, but I also like to create a zoo specifically for each continent and only it's species. I began work on my North American dedicated one last night, just for the entrance area, will be neat to see where this goes. I really debated waiting until we got the new terrain map tools but decided to just go for it.

Wow, I do something similar: I make a zoo then choose the animals based off of the biome (see National Zoo Org. thread to check out my Zoo Iceland Park, a place where it's a winter wonderland almost every winter. We have bears (polar, Himalayan, Formosan), snow leopards, reindeer, dall sheep, and Arctic wolves).

I want to open a new zoo that'll have Bactrian camels, the only animal I've never ever played with in-game. Suggestions? Should I do desert or should I do temperate (since they can tolerate the cold)?

I've only used camels once, they really aren't that interesting to me, but it was in a desert biome so of course they are faring well. I'd think they'd be fine in temperate though.

Honestly, I want to tackle biome specific zoos at some point, but some feel like they'd be too limited to me (the only franchise desert zoo I have is a general zoo) or too difficult (the tundra biome). I guess it's why I stick with temperate/grassland and at times tropical and taiga.

Ok, cool.

I'm trying to get the Zoologist achievement, and they are the last animal I need.

And yeah, I have a temperate zoo; I'll add them to that one

Sadly they aren't even close to being as cold tolerant as they are in Real Life 😟
Just imagine having them in a Taiga Zoo with Snow. It would probably look absolutely awesome (especially if they would also finally fix their Size)

Worked on the entrance and the entrance area of Wingburg, after I got some inspiration last night. Still not nearly finished, thiugh. I kinda like it, but it also looks a bit carmped. Like the zoo was very small in the past and grew too huge for it's entrance over time.

Actually, that makes for a great story. An old, small zoo that eventually became popular in the last few years. So now the zoo is going to have a funding project to expand even more

Umm... so you are back / not going @darthquell ? Because new project and all. But I'm happy if you stay, so yay. :)

As I said, the entrance of Wingburg looks a little cramped in and like it grew out of it's zoo. Finished it today. Ignore what you see behind the entrance, I still need to work a lot on it.
I imagine the zoo gives some discount when you buy tickets online and maybe gives away time slots to manage masses. Eventually there will probably be a second, larger entrance but this will stay the traditional one.

Sooo.... I demolished the Seal habitat at last, sold all seals and penguins to start fresh. Redid every staff building. Before the DLC I want to work on a Cassowary habitat - which would be my first. I already was lucky and got a very good pair right at the start. Guess the game wants to treat me for having two bird habitats in a zoo and nothing else yet :D

Love this architecture style. What is it based on?

Thank you, I really appreciate! I just build. No real reference. I was inspired by one of Simply Savannahs videos to use the recolorable wooden walls and to angle part of the building in the entrance but other then that I just went for it :) . But I'm getting a bit of scandinavian / Astrid Lindgren Vibes, to be fair :D

Swjos, really, if I have to be honest: your builds are a lot better than you say they are. Really, they are good, and I have to say, the way you build gives me inspiration. I especially like the way you do the gardens (I cheat by using giant rhubarb😬)
Thank you, darthquell, your kind words really make my day!
I'm always hard on myself and probably compare myself too much with the top builders, instead of just looking how I gradually improve. Working on that bad habit. :)
