What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I have started a new project called Autumn Falls Park. Last year I made a tiny Pumpkin Zoo (only had the Himalayan brown bear, timber wolves, and the dall sheep) and I wanted to continue this year with the same idea. AFP will be a bit bigger than last year's zoo, and it will be populated with animals that can handle colder temperatures. Wolves, bears, seals, reindeer, red panda, etc. Those kinds of animals. One of the reasons is also the upcoming DLC. Now regardless of what it's going to be, I do think it'll be filled with species that can also thrive in colder areas of the world. Most of us suspect it'll be NA/Europe, and if that turns out to be true, I think those animals will fit perfectly into my new zoo.

I am also trying something new this time. I have downloaded a color palette, and that is with autumn colors that go well together. I've put it into the giant 32m billboard so I can always check on the hex codes and combine the colors properly. I'm still learning and trying new things. I want to make it a little bit more colorful this time, but still cohesive.

WIP

Entrance. Needs much more love. I'm thinking of changing it completely. For now, it'll have to do. I'm playing in franchise so any big projects will have to wait a little bit until I earn more funds.

As you enter, you are greeted by this warm welcome sign and some peafowls. In the background, you can see the color palette.

This peafowl shelter is from the workshop, I think it looks great. I like the simplicity of the habitat, but I'll have to change the border. I don't like it much.

Onto the right is the path leading to the underwater viewing spot and animal education point of the grey seals. Their habitat is unfinished and I don't have any ideas at the moment what to do with it. They are a pain in the butt. Their traversable area is horrible.

Opposite to the grey seals is going to be the reindeer. I have started work on their shelter and some fencing.

I love fall, I love this idea and I can't wait to see the progress with this project!

Guess who discovered Ansel lol

It works wonders, right? I recently updated my drivers just to be able to use a good version of Ansel and I couldn't be happier.

Btw, I guess this is part of the Indian-Southeast Asia landscape you shared some days ago? It looks really good!

This was over the weekend. I was going to do Hippos but I forgot that the space requirements is only for 1 animal, so I designed it with the right size and then put 3 in. So I swapped them for Otters so they have loads of space now! I had a bit of trial and error with the underwater viewing area but got it in the end. My first attempt. For the penguins I sped things up a bit by using PlasticSwans starter habitat, which was a faff to get in until removed all the paths around the area. I noticed I didn't quite get it right because you can see there's a lump of terrain that won't remove and the side looks like it's slightly elevated. I did sink it to the right level but perhaps should have flattened the terrain first or something. I was going to try and do an underwater tunnel under this one but I think the water is so deep I had to start the tunnel really far back and I was struggling to get it deep enough so I gave up. I'll try it on something else I think. And then who doesn't like watching these beauties swim underwater!

I love these small zoos. I feel like there's more personality than a huge zoo and you can focus more on the animals

Yes it is, thank you! All that stuff is on my steam workshop by the way, I submitted it for BeyondDrew's community showcase last week

Hey what's up!
Its time for Day 7!

2 polar wolves have moved in behind the Japan macaque enclosure. I haven't played with them for a long time and thought "hey, it's time again" and they fit in very well ... I think. In addition, I was able to let off steam again with rocks and fences (I think fences could also become a passion of mine).

It continues in the corner where I exchanged the black bucks for the bongos some time ago. There are now 4 kangaroos and (I think) 3 koalas living here, and I have also used the koalas for the first time. So many first times in this zoo

I ran into some problems with my Arctic panorama. For some reason I can't put the water into the polar bear pool after adding the underwater tunnel. I'm afraid I have to empty the seal pool as well and redo both tunnels...
And because it's a little frustrating, I decided to take a little break from the Arctic section and move back to Africa where I wanted to add an African penguin habitat since the release of the Africa DLC. I named the habitat after Boulder's Beach in South Africa where one of the last African penguin colonies lives.
It's not finished yet but here are two pics:

Today i started my work on the next 2 enclosures for anteaters and babirusas. They just felt like the right fit and share 2 habitats, that i imagine would be switched from time to time between the two through their combined shelter.
Because planetzoo wont let me put two gates into the same buildings i said screw you and just build a big habitat that seperated by actual fences and not the barrier system first and foremost.
This lead to the anteaters casually visiting the babirusas all 2 mins to sip a drink and run back.
Good boys but they did kind of jank around the barrier somehow (they totally left it, i saw it) so i just hope that they wont chill down there all the time even when its finished.
I want to make the area look foresty in the end, stark contrast to the open penguins and what ever comes next to them, props kangaroos, which will live on a grass open plain.
I tried to give it a very soft asian touch with the bamboo, and i think i succeeded, so i might use them quite a bit more when i continue to build on that habitat.

Btw, im still unsure if im gonna use the brown fence on the left or the bamboo on the right in the front of the habitat, or maybe something different all thogether. If anyone has a preference or even better a cool idear, pls tell me :)

Really love how close the guests can get to the camels. Made the fence by myself and i pretty like it. I know, bactrian camels aren't african, but i wanted to built the asia-area in my zoo in a more djungle-themed way, so i put the desert animals in the african area.

After seeing the 3 great habitats i build for other people, i looked back onto my unfinished giraffes and was like "wait a minute, why is their stuff way cooler then mine?"
So now i spend over 2 hours working on the first things i build in the zoo, the giraffes and the entrance.
After finishing most of the interior of the giraffes, i took it on me to make the building look less boring and more cool.
I took some inspiration of the Giraffehouse in the zoo berlin with its indian themes and thought "yeah lets do that".

But then i learned some not so great things, mainly that most of the indian piece set is not flexicolor, aka they wont mash well with the base thats already their. I didnt want to redo the whoule thing, as i liked the interior and a real palast fealt wrong, wanting more of a budget style facade, that looks good and charming.
It might not be finished yet, with atleast the roof recieving some love later, because that little crossing between wall and roof tiles just looks empty and ugly, but im way more happy with it then the barren brickhouse it was before, and i bet the giraffes like it too :)

I also started some work detailing their outdoor habitat from back to front, but that will still need a lot of work and i doubt that i will finish it today.

After having licked some blood with being rather happy with the giraffe house, i put my view onto improving the entrance a bit, this shot is of the right building, that hasnt gotten any changes, with only the flowers and statues i did on the first day of the zoo making it look like more then a brick box.
entrance.jpeg

The otherside meanwhile got experimented and expanded on, to quite some sucess i would say.
Sadly thouse cool beams from the classic theme arent recolorable, but im very happy with the sign ive done for my Zoo. I also really like the way i connected brick and roof and think i will do that for the giraffe house too. Its still a bit janky, but when i figured out how to make the corners pretty i cant wait to put it on the other entrance building and the G house. If you guys have any idears how to do that or improve the look of the building in general without completly redoing it, pls tell me as i really suck at designing buildings, atleast for now. Thx for listening to my ramblings as allways, Julian out

Made two pigs. Going to make some farm animals out of props.

Boer for meat, Saanen for milk, Merino for wool. Maybe I'll make one more sheep breed for the meat.

Did I say I made some ponies?
They all look really nice. I like the Pig most. My Method to create Animal Statues is to place a similar Animal, pause the Game and place Pieces around it, but it takes a Eternity 😴
Maybe you could also create a Texas Longhorn or Watusi. Chickens would also be nice

Today i didnt feel like continuing the giraffes and instead started work on my next habitat, the kangaroos! Honestly i like the grey color way more and might yeet all red ones, making it an implied grey kangaroo habitat, we will see.

I personally quite like the fence, its simple but still has a nice touch to it. We will see if the overall exhibit will fit the parkstyle flair i have in mind, but the little part in the front is "finished", with it hopefully taking enough attention and vibe that the rest can mostly be grassy fields.

I also worked and finished their shelter today, with a nice rundown look. But the inside part and the view from the path is a secret, coming with my next update of my one thread.
