What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Fair enough. But i could also see the rustic vibe being turned up intentionally to theme it as an old abandoned hut near a pond or lake: You know a place where you could stumble upon a salamander. Maybe you could even really do a pond next to it, in the hope that we might get ducks some day :D
I like the pond idea, especially cause I have a couple dead ends in the zoo and I need to make those ends a bit more exciting, and blending the shed into that would be really cool. Still need to figure out what to do with the actual outdoor area of the enclosure though, maybe Fennec Foxes? I could replace the greener grass with dry versions.

Finally, it’s starting to look like an actual zoo 😁

And now it’s time for the final piece of Oceania, while the Kiwi was the last new animal in the section I do want to redo the Wallaby and Kangaroo enclosure and add a bit more to the Wombats as well.

Also anyone know how I could use this enclosure in OakWood? It’s from my children’s zoo submission but I really like it,

keep in mind we already got armadillo, skunks, prairie dogs and red foxes.View attachment 372584
My best idea is to add Aardvarks, take out the shed and replace it with a dark nocturnal modern building, cause it’s a bit too old and rustic for my liking. But I would love any other suggestions 😄
I would just wait for now. My guts might say an arctic fox could be neat but really the current trend is that each pack brings atleast one small animal, so id wait till the winter dlc and leave it uninhabited for the month. Also who knows maybe we get something small for the anniversary.

Welcome back to "König restores old ass habitats that he started a year ago to not look like either garbage or nothing at all"
Todays episode is about a place you all have seen a bunch in the background of other pictures, the elephant hill aka the savannah habitat of my zoo, featuring a herd of 8 elephants, 3 dhamas gazelle, 5 nile lechwes and 3 ostriches. So far it has been an empty hill with 2 trees and the fencing in their water moat done, but now that i finished the lion habitat and pretty much all visible fencing for the area currently visible from paths is done i decided that now is the time to actually decorate and fill it with life.

This is the current main viewing gallery, as its the only one that isnt from far away. Its still missing a bit and will be much prettier once ive done whats behind the hill but for now id say it looks quite serviceable and pretty enough. Its also filled with different enrtichment items to encourage the animals to primarly wander this part of the habitat for now.

For a bit closer view, this is one from above the lion habitat. You can really see that most of the layout activly had the elephants in mind, with the gazelles looking tiny in the implied pathways. Funfact! My elephants actually primarly use the pathways, why? I actually used the messy traverseable area to gently block of the offroad sections with faux rocks and while they can still acess them from other points this keeps them mostly where i want them to be.

And lastly a shot from the lions main viewing gallery. Im quite pleased with how the view works out and while my past self had many flaws, alligning views and terraforming wernt among them. Its honestly very relaxing to just finish what i started when i wasnt that good at decorating, which also has the additional benefit that theres less old ugly decorations that i might need to fix, so win win.
For now there actually wont be that much more done with the elephants besides also doing the hill behind the lions other main view, as i dont currently feel like building their holding with 3 other houses currently in the making and a very ugly entrance, so i will wait and see what the games future brings. It also will keep spots open for future new animals to work in organicly into my zoos, something id also greatly appreciate.
Besides there house, there are still planned atleast one stable for the other animals in the habitat and a second bull yard, so this habitat propaply wont be finished any time soon and might be years in the making, but im quite happy with that as i intend to be the largest and among the best habitats as the true heart of the zoo once im done surrounding it so that keeps many opportunitys open for the future ^^

Is it possible to learn this power?
Actually yeah, i wanna do another longer post in the tipps thread soon, but the short form is that especally the movement of large animals can be easily controlled by placing suddle barriers like faux rocks, which while annoying most of the time can be used to funnel them through areas.
For example see on the second picture how the elephant on the right is using the pathway down the hill? Thats because i obstructed the area next to it with the faux rocks that are placed enough to not completly draw the eye. This makes the area look open but still makes the animals go where i want them to. And the best part is that i placed most of them low enough that the gazelles and ostritches can go their easily, making the space not wasted

Well it’s not going in the enclosure but I’m pretty excited, if it’s a peccary, it’s joining my maned wolves and anteaters in my Americas section! So excited 😆

On the other hand if it’s a boar, eh. I’ll still build for it, but a peccary would be better.
Wait, peccaries can be mixed with maned wolves?

See? Sometimes my words do be wise
A collared peccary would actually inspire me to try to do a homage to zoo wuppertals south america house, one of only 2 zoos that actually have the bairds tapir, coinhabited by lesser mara, pudus, a two toed sloth AND collared peccarys, so thats the goal
