Welcome back to "König restores old ass habitats that he started a year ago to not look like either garbage or nothing at all"
Todays episode is about a place you all have seen a bunch in the background of other pictures, the elephant hill aka the savannah habitat of my zoo, featuring a herd of 8 elephants, 3 dhamas gazelle, 5 nile lechwes and 3 ostriches. So far it has been an empty hill with 2 trees and the fencing in their water moat done, but now that i finished the lion habitat and pretty much all visible fencing for the area currently visible from paths is done i decided that now is the time to actually decorate and fill it with life.
This is the current main viewing gallery, as its the only one that isnt from far away. Its still missing a bit and will be much prettier once ive done whats behind the hill but for now id say it looks quite serviceable and pretty enough. Its also filled with different enrtichment items to encourage the animals to primarly wander this part of the habitat for now.
For a bit closer view, this is one from above the lion habitat. You can really see that most of the layout activly had the elephants in mind, with the gazelles looking tiny in the implied pathways. Funfact! My elephants actually primarly use the pathways, why? I actually used the messy traverseable area to gently block of the offroad sections with faux rocks and while they can still acess them from other points this keeps them mostly where i want them to be.
And lastly a shot from the lions main viewing gallery. Im quite pleased with how the view works out and while my past self had many flaws, alligning views and terraforming wernt among them. Its honestly very relaxing to just finish what i started when i wasnt that good at decorating, which also has the additional benefit that theres less old ugly decorations that i might need to fix, so win win.
For now there actually wont be that much more done with the elephants besides also doing the hill behind the lions other main view, as i dont currently feel like building their holding with 3 other houses currently in the making and a very ugly entrance, so i will wait and see what the games future brings. It also will keep spots open for future new animals to work in organicly into my zoos, something id also greatly appreciate.
Besides there house, there are still planned atleast one stable for the other animals in the habitat and a second bull yard, so this habitat propaply wont be finished any time soon and might be years in the making, but im quite happy with that as i intend to be the largest and among the best habitats as the true heart of the zoo once im done surrounding it so that keeps many opportunitys open for the future ^^
