What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Was an early morning for me with F1, so also worked on my zoo on my second screen. The dome was already there, but started with the exhibits inside, after I made some drafts on paper/in my head the last few weeks. There will be 5 "exhibits" (if I count the sloths and butterflies as well). Capybaras, Baird's tapirs and Cuvier's dwarf caiman will be the main ones. Also the first time I try to integrate the walkthrough exhibits with other exhibits. Though the tapirs will not be able to enter on their side, on the other side of the exhibit there should also be armadillos to be found on the floor. There will be five exhibits (of which two can be seen on the last picture, making the building have 12 species calling it their home.

All species have in common that the can be found in Colombia and therefore the section will be called Colombiana.

ngl i love how the sloth exhitbit was integated here, i just wish the same was possible for smaller less rectangular builds

Honestly I hope we do get more stuff for the WTE, I doubt at this point but at the very least if it had more animals I would have more reason to use it and try to use it.

Already made a butterfly house, a bat habitat, and a sloth habitat. At least with exhibit boxes, as clunky as they are, there is enough animal variety I can try to work them into other builds.

Im currently working on something featuring the we that i have planned for my zoo since the beginning.
The concept is an old animal house with an indoor "jungle" which is mainly used for the indoor holdings of various animals you cant really leave outside over the winter like lemurs, meerkats, tortoises and capuchins. In the indoor i want to have free flying fruit bats, some of the modded birds and ideally also the sloth, and let me tell you it is a pain in the neck :D
This is kinda what im going for:

I wanted to make a simple Zoo in which I could store animals because I have more than 200 animals in stock.

By accident I made a new Zoo with 5 stars and 3000 satisfied visitors. So now I have even more golden animals I can’t store… o_O

i feel sorry for your path lay out allready
As someone who is halfway through building exactly that, its a pain, especally with the WEs

Today was a very productive day and I managed to do a lot of planning for my zoo, as well as working out details. I got quite far with my remake of the crocodile walkway and think this may be one of my better foliage works yet. I also made a start with the next part of the reptile section, where I'm still experimenting with the design a bit.

Something I always forget and then I try to add at the end when I don't have space is the staff access to the zoo, so this time I did the staff gate at first too. To avoid performance issues with my aging computer, I don't make detailed backastage areas,so this non-visiblie area will be quite simple, but at least this time it will exist!

I've also added details to the visitor entrance area with the buildings for toilets and tickets. And here comes another new thing I want to do in this project: more custom images!

I'm very excited witht his project where I'm trying to do many things I don't usually do. However, I just got a new job and I'll be moving to another city again, so I won't be able to play as often.

Wow this brings back some memories...

No pictures yet, but I'm currently building the most detailed zoo I've done yet. The True Blue Zoo set in Muttaburra, Australia (I was originally gonna call it Muttaburra Zoo, but Muttaburra is censored for some reason)

The Zoo is designed to focus on local wildlife as well as neighboring New Zealand. But, it does have exotic animals. Using @Chuditch list of mammals found in Australian zoos, I've developed a game plan to build the ultinate Australian zoo.

All the local critters are in, from quokkas to kiwis to salties and dingos. I have a restaurant called The Lone Coolabah, and I built the Indian subcontinent section. Now I've moved on to my final section, Arid Africa.
Once done, I will be posting on the workshop

Edit: I will log onto PlanZo tomorrow and snap some pics. Unfortunately it's begun to lag a little bit, so hopefully I can finish before it lags too much. Unsure if it's guests or piece count)

The leopard habitat I finished has a more "industrial" look to it, hahahaha. This is the first time I've tried this style.

The blue areas are outdoor habitats, the red ones are indoor habitats, the purple ones are animal houses, and the yellow ones are habitats that visitors cannot see. All areas can be connected through orange passages, but of course, this cannot be achieved in the game.

Aight, here's the True Blue Zoo (in progress. Lagging a lot, I may have to transfer it to sandbox)

20250327185613_1.jpg

So, this is the bird's-eye-view of the zoo. To the left, local fauna. the right, exotic animals...

20250327185626_1.jpg

The entrance. Could use a little boost, but I dunno. What do y'all think?

20250327185639_1.jpg

The reptile house. Bland on the outside, but on the inside...

20250327185646_1.jpg

20250327185652_1.jpg

I have it all subdivided. Where it says Deadly Rainbows, I have golden and Lehmann's poison frogs. Venom of the desert has the gila monster, the brown snake, 1 of the adders (I forgot which) and the horned viper. The Constrictors has boas and anaconda. And the Swampers features axolotls and terrapins

(To be continued...)

So, here's the basic overview of the local fauna. To start off, to the left we have The Outback. To the right, Crikey's Billabong. Far left, The Bush. And far right, Little Zealand...
20250327185707_1.jpg

20250327185724_1.jpg

The walkthrough wallaby habitat is super popular. I actually wish guests would stop going, honestly...

20250327185730_1.jpg

Next to the wallabies, you have kangaroos and emus. No entry, though...

20250327185749_1.jpg

And finally, dingoes. 1-way glass gives them immense privacy. (Not pictured is a terrarium with blue-tongues).

Sorry for not showing more detail, but the lag was killing me

Next, we have the billabong:
20250327185801_1.jpg

A huge aviary for flying foxes. It was meant to mimic a lush forest. The mesh work was tricky...

20250327185809_1.jpg

Next up, cassowaries. My favorite addition of the Australia Pack. These guys live in dense forests, so I tried to imitate it...
20250327185817_1.jpg

And my favorite creation, the Crocodilian Pavilion (more like mansion). Featuring 2 aquariums for salties and underwater tunnels, this is where the king resides: Crikey the Saltwater Crocodile!

20250327185826_1.jpg
20250327185901_1.jpg

Unfortunately, guests don't really use it. But WHO NEEDS THEM!!!

And finally, we have the Platypus Conservation Center, ideally designed for privacy but also to breed the platypus. Sponsored by D. Quell
20250327185935_1.jpg

Next up, Little Zealand. It's not much, but I wanted to give it a tropical vibe:
20250327185954_1.jpg

Only 2 species reside here: little blue penguins and North Island brown kiwis...
20250327190002_1.jpg
20250327190005_1.jpg

The penguins have a blue pool to swim the Australian heat away. Also added netting to prevent birds-of-prey from eating them. Guests can view them from under the thatch canopy...

20250327190012_1.jpg

The Kiwi Breeding Building helps neighboring New Zealand to help in the conservation of the iconic bird...

20250327190017_1.jpg

It's meant to represent a dark, overgrown environment. Infrared lights help guests to se inside while the birds can't see them (I tried, OK?! The lighting is funky)

What zoo is complete without a restaurant? Come stop and get a bite at The Lone Coolibah:
20250327190026_1.jpg
20250327190031_1.jpg

I have an indoor area, a porched outdoor area (with netting to prevent mosquitoes), and an actual outdoor area. I used the stringywood eucalyptus because it looked most like the Coolabah genus (Aussie folks, please give feedback on that)...

Across from the cafe is a reflection pool:
20250327190122_1.jpg

Just for some beauty...

And finally, the last section of the locals: The Bush...
20250327190045_1.jpg

It starts off with Tasmanian devils. The True Blue Zoo is doing all it can to preserve this carnivorous marsupial...
20250327190052_1.jpg

Koalas are a must. Who doesn't love the drop bear? They have a shade structure to protect them from the intense sun...

20250327190100_1.jpg

Nextdoor are the wombats. Fun little pudgy guys that spend their time rummaging on the ground...
And finally, say hey to the happiest animal in the world:
20250327190114_1.jpg

The quokka! They have several areas to hide and play, but their wish is to take selfies with the guests...

Now onto the exotic animals. The Indian Subcontinent has arrived:
20250327190133_1.jpg

Featuring super rare Indian animals:
20250327190142_1.jpg

Indian peafowl, the most elusive bird in the world. Few have seen them...
20250327190154_1.jpg

Bengal tigers, a majestic predator...
20250327190205_1.jpg

Gharials, the crocos that prefer fishing over hunting...
20250327190213_1.jpg

Sun bears and binturongs, 2 oddballs we never expected, 1 of which needed some plastic surgery back in 2021...
20250327190222_1.jpg

And Indian elephants. To the left, females and young. To the right, a bachelor pad; they just need a lava lamp...
20250327190148_1.jpg

Here's a little (lame) plaza for guests, using the prefabs (I didn't have patience to build actual Indian buildings)

And a sneak peak (if I can have the patience before my PC freezes): Arid Africa...
20250327190228_1.jpg

Currently only have scimitar oryxes and will add addaxes next to them. I plan to bring in white rhinos and zebras. Maybe caracals, too. Once done, the zoo will need a few touchups and will be complete!

Thank you for y'alls patronage. Please gimme your credit card information so we can fund the zoo (kidding, kidding)
