What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I wanted a small tropical oasis area for Didgeri•ZOO so I did a Tropical Asia dome that will eventually lead to the second building which will be for Tropical Africa plus a restaurant that will occupy the dome portion. The area surrounding the two buildings will be cascading waterfalls and botanical garden walking paths with fountains, food, drink, and souvenir stalls.

As for Tropical Asia, the dome is split in two. I was going to do it all as one space but I’ve noticed that the more animals you pack into a habitat, the less donations they make, so I’m trying to keep mixed species habitats to 3 species or less. Half the dome belongs to Bornean Orangutans and Malayan Tapir and the other half belongs to Asian Small Clawed Otters, Lar Gibbons, and Siamangs. I like habitats that feature animals for land, water, sky so you have every level with some movement and life. I was quite annoyed that the rope coil details I added to the climbing structure for the Gibbons and Siamangs cut off the climb-ability of the logs so I had to delete them. It looks plainer than I wanted it to but I still like it.

I think the area I like the most is the underground viewing area and all the rock work to conceal it. It has views into both habitats, but the best view is definitely of the Tapir and Orangutans.

Main entrance with restrooms, Pipshot smoothies and vending machines plus some educational scenery and theming

After leaving the space for the outdoor exhibit for the Baird's tapir empty, decided this weekend to change that. I wanted to create a river going inside a pool. Think that worked out nice and with the special effects it looks like the river is being refilled from above. Because of the steep slopes it will be an exhibit without many visible fences. Around the exhibit there is still al lot of work to do and also close to the water the exhibit can use some extra foliage/rocks.

Putt in some more work into my amazon hall. Swapped out the sandstone for the red desert rocks, which at first i was afraid that it would to strong of a australia vibe. But after looking at it for a while i really like it as the texture on them looks alot more fake than on nthe other rocks, it provieds a great contrast to the blue of the walls and the green of the plants. And it give it a little more of a unique look which i like. Still needs some signage and some more climbing and perching opportunities for the free roaming birds and monkeys, but this floor is more or less finished, now onto the one below where the big amazon tanks for arapaima and pals will be.

This is by far my favorite current project, i just adore everything about it, from the walkway, the planting, the way the sloth is integrated, the many little touches, the climbing frames, the wall color, its just, wow

Apart from the water special effects, isn't that our good old waterfall piece but horizontally aligned? That would be genius, a simple but effective way to build beautiful water streams.

Such a detailed job, you are really nailing the Vienna Aqua Zoo vibes, even for someone like me that has never been there!👌

Yes correct. Got the idea via Youtube and added the aquatic rocks in the stream for some more realistic feeling. They are good items to use like this. Only issue for me is their size. I would have used them a lot more if the hight was only 1 or 2 and not 4. Then you could also place them on buildings, which is currently horrible to do.

Welp, while i didnt want to get back into the game, today was a very ty day (like my beardie died type of ty) so i fell back onto my comfort game and just did some good old rock work and gardening, slowly but surely filling in the gaps and finishing up the central lake and the gibbon isle of my tiny zoo, only really missing some ropes for the gibbons to connect the trees

Into the next section of the zoo - a subsection of South America, Predator Passage. A small branched out path guests will take through the dense rainforest to meet 2 unique carnivores of the continent - Ocelot and Maned Wolf.

But before I continue on that I need to fix my bush dog enclosure cause I didn’t know they needed water 🫠

Hope I'm able to post images here alright, I attempted to a while back but it didn't work, so if this doesn't work either, help would be appreciated!

Recently got back into Planet Zoo with the new pack announcement, I've been working on this current zoo since the Southeast Asia pack released, and I've gone through so many cycles of deleting everything, rebuilding stuff, making new plans and such. But I think I've finally got a solid plan down, and this was the most recent exhibit I built yesterday:

This Gibbon Island is part of a much larger Southeast Asian complex I've called "Asia's Islands: Tiger Forest" (in the fourth picture you can see the Tiger enclosures further back)
There was originally a Malayan Tapir exhibit in its place, then Flamingos. It was quite a hassle trying to figure out what could be positioned there with such little space and being so close to the main entrance (depicted in the third picture) but I thought Gibbons were a good fit because of their loud vocalization. Siamangs were also a candidate, but I want to save them for the Orangutan exhibit that'll be built further northeast from the entrance.
The indoor quarters are currently unfinished as I'm still working out the logistics with the odd elevation changes.

Again if the images aren't working properly, help or pointers would be much appreciated, as I'd like to share some of my stuff here more frequently haha

I'm finally getting back into the game today with the launch of the new DLC after almost half a year of not even touching the game (lack of motivation, time, you name it). I've started a new zoo this time and decided to restrict the zoo's area by immediately laying out some outer walls. My biggest issue so far with the game has been always wanting to have a "big" zoo, and so I always built and built until my PC couldn't handle it anymore, and ended up abandoning all my projects before I managed to finish them. Hopefully this restriction will help me put more effort into planning layout and structure and also actually finishing a project. It's ridiculous that I'm 1,700 hours into the game, have played it since the Beta came out and still have not finished a single zoo I started.

Anyway: I've been getting into the groove today and put together a starter habitat for the bush dog. What a cool little creature! Easily my favorite of the new pack, even though I also really like the Ocelot and the Flamingo(which will definitely find a place in this entrance section too).

This is Jordan the Bush Dog! :) In a Sandbox Zoo.

The new scenario is hard...
But I think Smudge is pretty.

Poor girl had no food so I tried to transfer her to quarantine. The vets were busy trying to round the Coyotes... So I hired extra vets. Then I went in the red. but I was able to get Smudge fed but in the meantime a Coyote attacked her! The annoying vets just put them in her habitat... Poor thing had to go the Vet again... Then, by deleting a bunch of scenery I was able to get her welfare to ~85%.

I had to build a separate habitat for the Coyotes. But they are pretty cool in their own right. the male was way more bold in my story I'm making up for this zoo. His name is Bravo. Echo is a cool name for a singing Coyote so I named his mate Echo. Their son has the not so original name Little One. Yoman is the name the game gave him...
I got the Bronze Reward statue so far...

Hereby an update of my work on the Baird's tapir exhibit. I used half of one of the feeders from Doscal from the workshop and made my own feeder and also used it for an outdoor shelter. Also made a scrub item where they can rub against. It is not a very big exhibit, but together with the exhibit for the spotted hyenas it is currently the largest of the zoo.
