What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Wooow, Lea, I love the logo! Super modern!

Thank you, Linda! :)

I've built a Thylacine Cinema

That's really cool!

Fountain has been moved and I'll keep it nice and spacious in the courtyard :)

Still considering the peafowl situation...Easy to keep em in that area by putting impassable plants underneath the paths but I really need to get guests outta that area, so we'll see. Thank you for your input :)

I really like it! :)

So, gazelles and zebras moved in again. The scale looks a bit better. Also made my first education board replacement. To get the picture, you might want to know a bit more about the concept of Bookland Zoo:

The zoo has a pretty long history. When zoos starded to get modernized and where mostly themed by area, they ran into a problem, as they had their animals all over the place, not sorted by region. To not re-do the whole zoo (which would have been pretty expensive) they decided to theme small areas in an inspirational way, mainly stepping up habitats with some inside scenery where possible.

They then invited visitors to look at the habitats and let their phantasy decide what the habitat is about. They are encouraged to write their own stories or poems about that section of a zoo or a habitat. Once a month the zoo draws an author among them all to win a godie. This could be an anual path, a backstage tour, a meet-and-greet with their favourite animal or something like that. It's a way to get people into the zoo and engage with it even more.
The gazelle and zebra habitat is the first habitat of what is knowen as "fallen kingdom".

Southeast Asia Nocturnal House progress. I tore down that little cave system and decided to move this up further, as it was originally going to be after the orangutan and proboscis monkey habitat. So far it showcases slow loris, Chinese pangolin, giant forest scorpions and Indian flying foxes. Lots more to do though!

Creating buildings in general is my weakness in PZ so I'm trying to get better at it. I'm thinking about tweaking that pangolin habitat a bit, maybe moving the log and doing some more bamboo or something. Btw, crickets, jungle frogs and jungle at night on the ambiance speakers combined make for a perfect nocturnal house setting.

I've started a mountain top hotel overlooking a vast river delta.
It is based on old European Sri Lankan Tea Plantations and the zoo will be a botanical wonderland fed by a mountain spring atop a cliff overlooking a vast river delta.
The colonial-ish architecture of the hotel and the African-esque restaurant with viewing terrace complement each other and the oxidised copper roofs remind of a grand by-gone era of yesteryear.
Love all the building stuff and landscaping wonder - the new water colour feature is fun too - the Asian Dlc pack needs transport and landscaping updates :)🚡🚠🤪

This is so awesome. I think I am only able to design cool looking Buildings if Animals are kept inside 😆

Fixed some Things in the Aquarium Building of my Japanese Zoo. I thought the Wood on the Fence of the Penguin Enclosure looks good even though it was intended to be just a temporary Solution for the Problem that caused Penguins to be able to escape (but for some Reason only on half of the Barrier even though it had the same Height everywhere and was in the Water Part). Then I've put a few Details in the Tank, like a few Sand covered Floor Areas, Plants, Rocks, a Tree Trunk that is covered in Algae and a Algae covered Rock Wall in the Background. I've also finally fixed the Lights. They where way too bright. Everything looked bad because of it. The Reset Option for the Lamps didn't work for some Reason but I found a relatively good Brightness Level for the Lamps. They are a bit dark but still way better than before

Haven't been checking the forums much, because I've been playing the game every free second since the dlc came. Really love the animals in this pack, and the associated updates.

I've finally gotten all 8 into my South East Asia franchise zoo, along with orangutans and cassowaries. This zoo somehow looks more natural, and also has more large buildings in it, than my previous franchise zoos. Now I'm focused on breeding up these animals, trying to find a mix of growing the best stats, replenishing the conservation credits that I used a bit too quickly to get everyone in, and hopefully eventually being able to bring down the costs of some of these animals in franchise. (That's not a criticism of the early players and the 10K strategy -- You do you). I'm just hoping to contribute to a larger mix of price points and stats levels, for the benefit of having more people being able to afford them -- without completely undermining my own long-term cc in the process, of course!.

Yeah - I'm the opposite - the buildings dictate the type of enclosure I will later build and then the animals come in third - love building and landscaping in this game - and would be nice to change the terrain - so that lovely green grass can be added to the hotel area - I always end up cheating later on with vivid green moss. Look forward to photos of everyone's zoo's. I think I'll explore more Colonial - British/Indian architecture more - more fun to be had. Would be nice to have functioning hotels in game . . . :)🚡🚠

Tobs - that Boab looking tree is AMAZING - although I fear that it was made up of hundreds of pieces - one like that in game would be awesome.

I finally played with some of the animals yesterday. Babirusa is the bomb; I already finished their research soon after. Then I bought a pair of Dholes; wow, those are so amazing. Unfortunately, Bingturongs are too expensive right now, so I can't get them.

Anyways, I'm preparing my zoo for a dedicated SE Asian section complete with the 2 species I acquired, Komodo Dragons (a must), and who knows what else.

The water feature is a really nice feature, too. By far this is the best update/DLC to date

These last days I've been playing in a new franchise zoo to do the research for the new animals. My franchise zoos aren't very detailed, but I "force" myself to do the research in franchise before using the new animals in my sandbox zoos. I have already researched the binturong, clouded leopard, Malayan tapir, dhole and the insect leave (which unfortunately is like the beetles: has many babies and dies fast). I'm so glad they increased the number of animals, because 5 days after the release of the DLC, I still have animals to research and I haven't even tried the new scenarios yet. It's nice that the novelty of a DLC lasts more than a couple days!

I finally got all the SEA animals. Started of with Dholes and Babirusas. Then acquired some Bingturongs and Sun Bears, made a greenhouse with Malayan Tapirs and Proboscis Monkey, and got some beautiful Clouded Leopards. Wow.

And my zoo is finally more organized and not totally random. Yes!

Planned to continue with my Big Cat House but then somehow some of the Penguins got out. I've found one of them in the Seal Enclosure and she absolutely seems to love it in there. She will be allowed to stay in there. I think she is becoming one of my Favorites.
She even got a unique Name now. I found her in there during Spring, it is in my Japanese Zoo, so now her Name is Haruka

I've created a Sign for her and also just found out that she's going to be a Mother😊

I wonder if it would be realistic to keep King Penguins and Grey Seals together 🤔

Edit: Damn thanks to my bad Keyboard there is a Spelling Error and the Software I've used to create the Sign doesn't allow to change Text after it was added

Been quite productive the last few days in my new zoo.
I've created the Gemsbok habitat which was the last habitat I needed to build for my entrance area of the zoo. I was a little at a lost with what I wanted to do, so I went to the Steam Workshop to get some inspiration and made my own modified version of a blueprint I found to better fit my zoo.

I also created a small habitat for the Thomson's Gazelles which I really like.

I made a habitat for the Pygmy Hippo's

And I've made a Lemur house which houses a indoor/outdoor walkthrough habitat for both species of lemur as well as an indoor/outdoor habitat for Aldabra Giant Tortoises.

I also started construction on the reptile house which is usually one of my favorite parts of my zoos.
Once the reptile house is finished I plan on doing to details of the zoo by decorating the paths and surrounding, adding benches, foliages, educational material, etc.
Once I've done that I'll probably start on either my European/Arctic/Antarctic zone or the Central Asian/Himalayan zone of my zoo.

I played pretty much non-stop this weekend. Really loving the animal pack, and I now have two or more habitats for each new animal so that I can do more focused breeding. My favorites at the moment are probably the clouded leopard, binturong, and probiscis monkey. But I love all eight of them. The fact that so many of the new animals can both climb and swim is giving me lots to watch them do -- and helping me to get more creative with habitat designs, since I have to plan for all the different possible escape modes (making sure they can't escape through their moats, and using a mix of climbable and non-climbable trees so they can't hop out).
