What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I wish I had more time to play :( didn't play the last few weeks
First i was ill after the second vaccination ...and then i had too much to do at home and in the garden. Sad me.
But my vacation starts on friday and because i'm not going away, i definitely have a lot more time to play, yey \o/

Ah no, so sorry you've been feeling unwell!
Glad you've got some time to yourself coming up though, definitely share what you get up to in your zoo :)

Awww thanks ❤️ it wasn't fun, but I am very happy to have been vaccinated.
i will do, i will do! i have a nice project in my mind :) - i will try something new with a little challenge in it.
in germany we will say "Es brennt mir unter den Fingern" - "it burns me under my fingers" - can't wait to start :)

I haven't played in weeks due to a combination of being away in central Australia on holiday and then doing a series of practice exams right upon return, but today I finally had some time to kill (partly due to the fact my state just entered a 7 day lockdown) so I spontaneously decided to start a new zoo. I usually plan out zoos extensively before I start (and often don't get far) building them, but this time I just went in and started building with only the vaguest idea in my head.

First habitat I built was for the Pygmy Hippo, no doubt subconsciously inspired by how Adelaide Zoo had them as entrance animals up until very recently (the resident hippo Obi has just been relocated to the former Sun Bear enclosure, with the Capybaras now claiming the entrance).

To continue with the theme of the central African rainforest, I put the Bongos right next door. In a similar vein I might finish this mini starting section off with Mandrill, or I could save them for later. I'm undecided.

Current overview. Obviously the buildings (which don't even have roofs) and backstage area are extremely barebones at the moment but I plan to work on them later. Both of these habitats are small and simple but they're meant to be starter animals, they don't need to be grand.

This zoo is set in far north Queensland (and therefore as normal for me I will only be using species found in Australian zoos) and I'm going for a mostly realistic aesthetic, the biggest deviation from this obviously being the amount of foliage in the enclosures (it'd be near impossible to stop the ungulates destroying that) but I can't help myself. I tend to stop and start zoos a lot but hopefully finally posting about a project here will give me the motivation to keep going with this one. I'm going to be busy with schoolwork over the next few months so I imagine I'll only be able to play sporadically, but I'll see how things work out.

This looks absolutely amazing. I would like to see more

When life gives you have lemons, make lemonade. Today I'm introducing my newest habitat: the dromedary! 🐪

The habitat meets all the requirements for the Bactrian camel, so I guess I will work well for dromedaries too. I hope the visitors don't notice some strange about these animals 😂

Outch, it is too soon! Jokes aside, thats a nice idea. Lets see how long before they notice. 😂

I think there is something wrong with your camels. Have you tried calling a vet?

Because im at home and away from my pc over the holidays i couldnt play planet zoo, but i did some planning and theory crafting trying to decide on the last animals to join my zoo.
Right now im flirting with girafes next to my hill and to fill one part of the massive hole left in the middle of the zoo with a Small carnivore habitat (hello fenek foxes, nice to meet you) and a larger one for lions, that will share its shelter building with probably clouded leopards for my asian garden hills.
Im iffy on the cloudys, as they will be sandwitched between lions and snowleopards.
If we had baboons they would be a great option instead of the lions, but maybe it will just be mandrils instead

I recently moved house and had to give up my reclining armchair, which is where I used to play PZ. I'm struggling to find a comfortable place where I'm now living to play. It's funny how something as minor as the height of my mouse (I used to have it on the arm of my chair, but now it's on the seat next to me) can really inhibit natural movement.

I have tinkered a lot with buildings etc from the new DLC, but now I have moved on to making a little project, that I have wished for a long time.
It is nothing avanced, but hopefully it will turn out somewhat great, atleast enough for me to enjoy it.

Even if I am awful at it, I started trying to make a parking lot, roads to connect it etc (not done at all!! will wait abit until I finish other things) then I have made a main building, that goes into a larger building that connects to a dome with South American theme, then I want a outside area with more South American, then I want to connect a little dome on the other side, with African theme (mostly exhibits) then outside, maybe "classic" styled animals, that people go in and watch in the enclousure.

So far it looks like this (not close at being done at all mind you and this is FMode)

Overview from the start of the road (I did not make the car´s, it is too much work atm)

This will be the parking lot, with bus stops, walking area, etc. (far far far from done)

This will be the main building people walk into from the parking lot. still not done at all.

The Cafeteria / hub building, that leads to domes, outside area, etc.

Inside the South American dome (far far from done) I am making everything covered with rocks, plants and a habitat with water in the middle, monkey habitat on the left and various exhibit areas, but all needs to be enclosed into rock, plants, etc.. for immersion.

Backside of the habitat, there will be a waterfall on the top side, will be more fleshed out later, just basic stucturing atm

Monkey habitat, will have both down and top viewing area, will need much much more work, in term of "rocks" filling in to make it narrow etc.

It is not a fantastic project, but I feel like its fun doing and it is something that I reckon will take a lot of time to do properly.

So here it is! My new project. (maybe its now interesting for me to finish the zoo...lol)

Story:
The mayor of the small town of "Wiesenthal" came up to me to tell me that I should build a zoo on the canal a little outside the town. He was able to collect 100,000 euros for the project. I am now supposed to build a lucrative zoo with the help of the start-up capital.
An zookeeper friend from North America became aware of our project: If I managed to collect 50,000 CC, he would give me 2 animals of a highly endangered species in return to start a breeding program with them. For starters, he leaves with 2000 CC.

Goal:
  • Build a lucrative zoo on the given map (the specified area is not allowed to be changed!)
  • Earn 50,000 CC and get 2 highly endangered animals
  • Raise 30 offspring of the preserved species for gold status and release them into the wild

And here is the map!
