What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I built the entrance to my Asian section today. I'm really really happy with the result. But it was my fourth attempt, all previous builidngs didn't look good. :D

My Planet Zoo break was a little long (I have too many hobbies, really...). I'm sitting here, staring at Golding and don't know what to do...

Does anyone having any tipps how to get back into a zoo?

What tend to work for me, is moving around and do some detailing. There is often rockwork that can be worked on or a boring wall somewhere. That helps getting your brain back in the game and the controls, and often that helps motivation to find its way.

It helps me if I click on "ZooChat" through the picture gallery.
Often I see something that I would like to imitate in a similar way ... and the rest then happens in the flow.

@Swjosdotschka to add to what SalamAnders said, try renovating something. A habitat, a shop, planters, paths. Something you're not quite happy with. Sometimes that gets my creative juices flowing if I have trouble getting back into the zoo.
I actually tried just that yesterday (plus the detailing SalamAnders recommended, as I usually do this as well) and demolished a lot of things that wasn't stream lined with the rest of the section. Now I'm stuck because I have to build particular things in a particular style and don't feel like it.

I figured, I start yet another zoo. This time with no concept whatsoever. Someone said in another thread to NOT start with the entrance but with a habitat and see what story envolves behind the zoos. So that's what I will do. No sections that forces me to build exactly for animal X on time Y. No budget limitation. There will be old boring habitats that need renovation and cool themed ones, that are quite new. I allow myself to put th Llamas next to Flamingos if I feel like it. There happens to be a crossview in the zoo? Pfff, who cares?
Just an organic growing patchwork zoo, that's what I need right now. I can get back to Golding eventually, when I feel like it. In the last couple of weeks I limited myself in all of my hobbies (doing a card challenge, strictly plotting my book) that I feel I just need something to go with the flow again. Hope it will help...

And yes, I am annoyed because I still have no finished project -.-

Okay then how about, using the giant otters as the mascot animals of the zoo to go real wild.
Im sure thats something you have never done before ;)

@Swjosdotschka, what I do is I browse the animal market. I keep going and going and going until, finally, some random animal catches my eye for whatever reason.
Afterwards, I do my in-game research, checking the Zoopedia for its needs, space requirements, and also interspecies bonuses to see what combinations I can do.
In the process, I end up deciding on a theme, like: "Everything here will be canids" or "I want this section to be Australian animals".

That's what I'm kinda doing with my current zoo, Longview Zoo.
I started off with African penguins (from.a previous zoo). Then, after i built it, I thought: "You know, I want some meerkats", so I went to sandbox and built an animal house, then I went back to franchise and placed it. I added my meerkats.
Then I had an empty habitat in the building, so I browsed to see what I wanted, and I ended up getting some saltwater crocs.
Outside the building, I had a small corner, so I figured that fennec foxes would be perfect there (and I was right).

Now, I just started a new section, and hey, since I already used 4/5 of the newest African animals, I decided to revolve tje latest section around African savannahs and get white rhinos-nyalas, giraffes-Thomson's gazelles, sable antelope-ostriches, and wild dogs.

So, my zoo evolves as it goes along, and I keep them small-smallish, so that I can go back and enjoy them over and over again

This is more yesterday but planning to spruce it up some more throughout the week. Noting I am not a builder, so every effort is a lot more work for me than it looks like. Just thought I'd share. I plan to put it on the workshop once it's finished but for now it's still a work in progress.

Edit: realized one of the pictures has the flags in it - sorry - the flags are NOT my creations but uploaded from the workshop.

I tried to make a layout for my new enclosure with the white rhino's. I want to incorporate the safari track. Which is hard to do I feel. So I put down part of the track first and some of the walls. Now figuring out where everything should go before getting any animals in.

Today i present to you three Nyalas, imprisoned for being to horny to stay with the main group. Hopefully they will produce some cute little offspring while they are there.
You might even see someone else lurking in the background, roaming what will become one of the 2 new habitats.

But to be more concrete, because of the fact that im in university and exams are approaching, i dont have to much time for planet zoo and plan on only doing some relaxed inbetween building, if anything. So building a new stable with 2 habitats and a seperation yard sounds like the way to go. Man im smart and so proudctive.

Today I have built a Lemur Island, which is the entrance habitat to my new zoo (after I lost my previous zoo to not being able to click on any building group anymore without PZ immediately crashing).
The island is inhabited by both Ring-Tailed and Red Ruffed Lemurs as well as Aldabra Giant Tortoises and can be both overlooked from a raised lookout (Pic 1) as well as accessed by a walkthrough path for the guests. The island is completely surrounded by water; in the backside, a little bridge allows them (and the keepers) to move into their night and winter residence; a cozy indoor area (that doesn't have an interior yet) where the habitat gate is also located.

And since I forgot to give them contraceptives, the habitat already includes about twenty baby tortoises, which I'll have to deal with next...
