What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I've been playing on mute because I have to share my space too much, but I do absolutely adore the cranes, easily my favourite animal from the pack I think
Headphones have changed my life - they make the absorption into a game even more magnificent!
Don't really know yet how exactly I'm going to design the Crane Enclosure but it'll probably have a traditional japanese Style. Maybe with Cherry Trees and that one Part from the Picnic Table Menu that I never use for the intended Purpose. As I've mentioned, I'm not sure yet about the Mountain because I'm very bad at creating them.
Maybe I'll also try to create a better Japanese Wolf Memorial. Built the Podest for the one in the current Zoo before Reward Statues were a Thing and the Statue was way smaller than I've expected, so it is looking a bit weird.
You had me at Cherry Trees - how incredible are the colours!!! - One of the most amazing plants - poetry for the eyes (y) I love Japanese Maples too - the colours and leaf shapes of those plants brings tears. Happy Easter too

Let's continue with the lemurs.
Unfortunately I forgot to color the water. It's a bit muddy now.
The next animal I rolled for is Nyalas.
Rolling the dice is really fun, but somehow I'm still unlucky and always roll the animals that I use so often 😂 but it's completely random! Really can't understand it 😂
I have now rolled for 6 animals from tropical biom. Next, I would like to roll out a new biom. What will it be? Stay tuned!

If I remember correctly, Japanese Maple Trees are also included in the Entrance Building of the current Version of the Zoo (which will also be reused when I rebuild it completely). They are really nice. I do even have a Wishlist of additional japanese and chinese Plants somewhere in the Forum. Of course I'm also hoping for more japanese Animals in the Game. I need my Red Foxes and Raccoon Dogs. I wish you and everyone on the Forum Happy Easter too🐇🐤

That Lemur Hut at the Waters Edge looks really nice 👍

Some more WIPs:

New inhabitants! I started completely rebuilding the former warthog and aardvark habitat into a desert theme, which is now home for some sweet little fennecs!

I finally started modelling the safari station and its surroundings, which I had been procrastinating for a loooong time.

And last but not least, I experimented with the new terrain tool and started a habitat for the nile lechwes!

I've been working on the entrance for my new taiga zoo, Wendale Park. I was going to experiment with a gift shop but despite watching numerous videos, I still couldn't visualise it properly or think how to build one so I've gone for my usual combination of info, food, drink, toilets and exhibits. Looks like the style for the park will be the vertical wood and white plaster, which wasn't what I originally planned but it looks pretty good. Not tested the floor against feet and clipping but it's as low as I could get it so fingers crossed.

I've still got loads to do with this building and landscaping, forgetting getting to grips with the terrace tool, so might be able to put off the first habitats until I can get the wetlands pack, otherwise I'll probably do the macaques so I can play with the bathing!

Okay, I don't know what's going on - every time I try to post images the same way I always have I'm getting an error message: "Oops! The post is too long to be processed!"

What?

Edit: @HeatherG I don't suppose you'd know why that would be? Is there an image limit?

I'm going to try it with just one image and see if it works:

Okay, cool. Well that's an overview of my giraffe habitat. I moved the sable antelope in there, too, and put reindeer in the now-vacant antelope habitat. This is currently my only mixed habitat because the aardvarks had to move out of the meerkat enclosure (too many meerkats now!).

Tentatively trying to share more of what I did yesterday...

This is the female lynx habitat.

And this is the male habitat. Both are deliberately simple. I designed them based on a Scottish wildcat habitat I saw at a little animal park when I lived in Scotland. I'm really enjoying building with such a low budget approach, it's a lot more fun for me than trying to maintain a complex zoo.

And this is my little food truck area between the meerkats, amphibians, and lynxes. I wanted it to be more realistic than some of what I've seen, so I gave the trucks a little access road from behind the zoo (you can see an open gate).

Don't you just love the design of these vans? I wish vehicles now had that amazing and beautiful character of these. Gone are the days of beautiful aesthetically designed vehicles . . .
I love how Cars looked in the Past. Now they all just look the same 🙁

I put my first blueprint build up on the Steam workshop! Any other folks out there who like American Southwest inspired builds?View attachment 302390View attachment 302391
Looks really nice 👍

Beautiful! I love Southwestern architecture; I'd love to see a "Frontier/Western" theme with pieces in a realistic pueblo/wild west style, plus some more cartoony cowboy props.
I'd love a Western Theme. Even have a whole Zoo with that Theme in a American Dessert. The Problem is, the only Things I can really do with that Theme are Mine Shafts and finding out that the Train looks amazing if you change the red Color to black. I can't build Western Houses at all. Not even if I'm using Reference Images

the Giraffe/Antelope habitat
Thank you for the kind words! I think the giraffe house itself + viewing platform could do with a little more detailing. It has something of an interior that I haven't shown yet, too.

I think when I eventually start a new zoo (as I certainly will, I always do!) I'll keep to the same style but put a little more effort into the buildings in general.

I'm already looking forward to the next DLC, too. I'm hoping for another antelope/hoofed animal of some kind, preferably one that is endangered like the Nile lechwe (scimitar-horned oryx would be nice, or the Pere David's deer). I'm thinking of doing a little "endangered hoofstock" section in my zoo with the okapi and lechwe, but I'd like a third habitat there too.

Before that, though, I want to try and build a simplistic reptile house. Dwarf caimans on one side, Nile monitors on the other, terrariums in between.

So my reptile house turned to be...less simplistic. I couldn't work out how to get enough light into the building without using an all-glass roof.

So because of size constraints, I ended up using the Komodo dragon and spectacled caiman instead of the Nile monitor and dwarf caiman. I actually might still swap out the dragon for the monitor just because it feels more 'realistic' for this zoo. I have to be honest, my disappointment with the spectacled caiman has gone down somewhat. It's actually the perfect size for the habitat it's in. I have two males and a female but they're non-breeding because baby reptiles are generally a pain.

Building this also made me realise how desperately we need more tropical lizards. I'd have loved to have put a chameleon in this reptile house, but instead I've got the two snakes (boa and anaconda) and both iguana species.
