What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Besides that, I put in a bongo habitat next to my giraffes, and opposite the giraffes I allocated a 'strip' to warthogs and my aardvarks. The aardvarks managed to squeeze out one last baby before the male went infertile. The warthogs are there until we get red river hogs.

I really, really like the way you put your zoo together.
Ofcourse their are many things a bit of detailing could make even prettier, for example hiding the viewers side of the water trench with foliage, so that it isnt just a barren little fence on earth, but thats all things that just boil down to spending more time on habitats.
But your layouts are the real kings! They are simplistic, but nice to look at, giving everything a very zoo like feel.
Also, maybe try out sone custom fencing, im sure they could bring your building game on a new level.
Join Fini and myself, become a custom fence enjoyer, trust me its allmost as great as the holy combination of feern, beach sapplings, oak sapplings, nettle and the allmighty bramble bushes, allways ready to elovate good zoos to great ones

oin Fini and myself, become a custom fence enjoyer,
I've built a couple but I find using custom fences extremely tedious. More often than not the axis is skewed so it takes too much fiddling to replicate it all in a smooth line. There are a lot of areas in my zoo that use custom fencing, but it's mostly restricted to viewing areas.

As to the moat, I do plan on prettying it up, it's just currently unfinished. Usually my method is "build a big chunk, go back and do the landscaping". If I showed you an overview of the whole zoo there would be a ton of empty space around - big lawns that need filling in with gardens and such.

I'll do more detailing on the next zoo I start, this one was more just "build build build." Not to mention, in most real zoos the backstage buildings are pretty barren. The only one I wish I'd done more detailing on specifically is the Reptile House; it looks super bare, but the size of the roof kind of forced it there. I tried a bunch of different things to make it look nicer but nothing really worked. Oh well!

Ye ye like i said, just a time thing. But i havent noticed your fences! Now you tempted me to activly search for them in your screens, so kudos, gotta do that

Also totally understandable, custom fences really are fiddle work, bit i personally enjoy it. Its more relaxing then frustrating, allmost zen like sometimes.
Weird that my ultimate relaxation comes from arranging fences, but i dont mind that at all

Finished up my bamboo trail, created a platypus habitat that I don’t like. Trying to brainstorm ideas for North America, and I’m very tempted by a smithsonian visit to build an on-site museum.

I love how everyone is using the new content now, be it in a dedicated new or an already existing project!

I don't have pictures to share, but I finally had a look at the DLC! I've been expecting two weeks of abstinence as I'm visiting my parents, but when I arrived, I just remembered that my OLD computer is standing around here. So yay, I am able to play. Not in my largest franchise for performance reasons, but the game itself is working. I absolutely adore the new animals, watching the capybaras was perfekt to relax after work :D This evening, I started on something for the latest habitat competition and really enjoy it. Good to have a long weekend off now, so I can play a bit. Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates!

I managed to do quite a bit today. For starters, here's a pic of my five dhole pups. The original pair aged out of breeding so I adopted a new female and paired her with the only male of the first litter, which makes four dogs, and now with these new five I've got nine. I'm glad I left a gap to the side of their habitat, because I'm going to have to expand it. 😅

I also redid the roof of my Reptile House, and I'm much happier with it now, and I completely rebuilt the Amphibian House, which is now much more compact.

And finally, a kangaroo habitat and a habitat for the Baird's tapir, which will be changed to Malayan tapirs when the model is finished.

Also, a double primate habitat. It's currently nicknamed "Monkey Zone" but in the left habitat I have my black-and-white ruffed lemurs, and in the right my capuchins. I considered doing proboscis monkeys here but they're a little too "high budget" for this zoo - the only real specialty animal I want to include is the giant panda, which will have their own little area when I get around to doing some terraforming.

These two habitats are (loosely) based on similar primate habitats at Wellington Zoo. They have squirrel monkeys (and agoutis) on the right and cotton-top tamarins on the left. At Wellington Zoo, however, both habitats are covered, but because we don't have any triangular mesh pieces my skill level is not nearly high enough to actually accomplish that here.

Edit: On the cards right now I've got;
  • A basic boring ostrich habitat over behind the aardvarks/warthogs. I've started this but I'm still working out whether I want it to be a simple chain-link fence or something fancier.
  • I have a big gap between the lemur island and the Asian Cats area that I'm considering putting jaguars into, but realistically holding cats is proving to be a management challenge as it is (swapping out the males into their own habitats whenever the females get pregnant; my tigers and snow leopards tend to have babies at the same times and the lynxes shortly after so it's a lot of running around).
  • "Endangered Hoofstock" - here I'm going to do three habitats, for the Nile lechwe, okapi, and something else. The "something else" will probably be nyala at this point until we get another endangered hoofed animal (I'm hoping the next DLC will provide - if it's anything like the last two years, we should be getting something desert-ish, so fingers crossed for the scimitar-horned oryx or something).
  • Expanding the river area; right now I've got my white rhinos, giraffes/sable antelope, and bongo. I'm thinking of also adding the American bison here, gemsbok, and potentially the Indian rhinos as well.
  • "Chimpanzee Centre" - this will be relatively ambitious so I'm hesitant to start it. The goal is to have a large central building with some indoor viewing, and a west wing and east wing. One wing will be for the bachelor chimps (all males) and the other will hold the dominant male, females, and young.
  • Some other odds and ends - giant anteater, capybara, cassowaries, etc.

I don't have much to show today, but I did finally put in the platypus. I love them! And with the addition of the platypus I have wrapped up the Aussie section, now I just need to finish the habitat and the surroundings, and then I'll start with the African section there. I plan on splitting it into different biomes - desert Africa, grassland Africa and so on. I won't use all the African animals. I also plan on making a lemur island which won't necessarily be a part of Africa, but just somewhere in the zoo. I also plan on making a small petting area with capybaras, llamas, both tortoises and the capuchin monkeys. After finishing the Aussie section I plan on finishing the SA section with the addition of the giant otter and the new spectacled caiman.

Just some random pics from the zoo:

I found these great signs on the workshop which were originally for the giant otter and then I modified them a bit and turned them into platypus signs. I think they look great.

This is a WIP area and these tables are connected to the Outback Shack restaurant, but what I really wanted to show off were these cute candles that came with the Europe pack. They really set the mood. I love it.

Oh and I also started naming habitats with more interesting names (and I'm really stretching the word interesting here, hehe). I usually always name them properly for management purposes, but this time I decided I wanna be a bit creative. So far I have:

  • Platypus Pond
  • Croc Rock
  • Kool Koalas
  • Kanga Roo
  • Dingo Danger!
  • Wary Cassowary
  • The Land Of The Jaguar (very..."imaginative", I know :ROFLMAO:)
  • Tapir & Anteater Jungle
  • Caiman Cove

I'm having fun coming up with these silly names!

Nice Band Name👍🦙
That's because of this picture. 😂
The Llama in the middle is actually a female animal. But she strutted around like a rooster and I immediately thought of some kind of gangster gang. Thick gold chains, sunglasses and flashy cars could also be edited into the picture.👑🚗
(and here is the song that goes with it:

I love the Llamas!

The Platypus Signs are really perfect for educational Signs. I wish we would have more Signs that fit so incredibly well for Things like that

Really love them too (mostly due to the Fact that they are our only domesticated Petting Zoo Animal so far). Keep them in almost all of my Zoos and even have a Farm just for breeding the different Color Variations. The Main Herd there got way smaller though last Time because I want to try to only breed Llamas with Gold Genetics there.
I wish we would get a few more Color Variations for them.
By the Way, what's about the white Llama that got re-added to the Game? Did we only get the normal/leucistic Llama back or both of them? Didn't see any on the Market so far
