What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I've had mass breakouts today in my new-ish African franchise zoo, it has been chaos and I have no idea why!!!

First, my lion. I built a pit and it is well over the required 3m but he managed to leap up there (I saw him do it and then I placed a 4m wall down after he'd got up there just to check the height...)

Then I had a mass exodus of flamingos... despite being happily penned in for years (and no escape routes marked on the heat map, I had measured the fence when building it) they suddenly lined up to jump over one particular area of fencing:

There were like 6 flamingos all hopping over one after another lol. I had to quit before more joined in, I was getting in a flap 😆 😆

Had Escape Problems with specific Parts of a Enclosure once. Don't remember which Species but I've stopped it by either putting Donation Boxes or Trash Cans there
Edit: I think it was the Flamingo Enclosure with a cool Rock Barrier I've built once (need to save that one as a Blueprint too before I restart that Zoo)

I need more patience to spend more time on my habitats lol.

Today I added my first ever zoo ride - I have a ma-hoo-sive habitat for giraffes, zebras and elephants to share - it is like 7.5K m2, so big that I decided to put in a jeep safari. Being a noob, I had not much idea of what I was doing, I got the basics but it does not look pretty yet haha.

Despite my poor building skills, I absolutely adore all the African stuff so I am really enjoying this zoo and there are some beautiful blueprints provided by Frontier that I have been able to just plonk down. But I made the fence around this habitat myself and it took several hours copying the bits along the perimeter.

Tried a timed scenario for the first time ever. It was one of the most frustratingly stressful experiences I have had in three decades of gaming. I would have thought that at least the first one would be reasonable to get on the first try for someone with a basic understanding of the gameplay loop, let alone someone with hundreds of hours in the game. Nope, not even close. I'm never touching those again.

@biggest_dreamer I feel your pain, I was exactly the same. I do them occasionally now and ignore the timer and trundle along at my own pace - I will still get the bronze statues after all.

I am going to start a new franchise today, just looking around youtube etc for inspiration.

I just can't do with the timed scenarios at all, kinda defeats the whole relaxing feeling the game gives

I like to do the timed scenarios from time to time when I wanna challenge myself but I still much prefer the regular career maps.

And right now I'm playing way more in sandbox than anything, since I just love all the options we got for it now. The only one I'm still really missing is a randomized market option so it's not as easy to get animals, hope that'll be added in the future.

Anyway, my new project is coming along nicely, really like how the entrance is turning out so far :D
