What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

So far, I've released 41 animals and rebuilt my CC.

The 2 costumes I unlocked are:

Tiger
Ape - not sure what. It has a gold banana necklace and the hat resembles a cross between a gorilla/orangutan, so I'm not sure what it is

Frontier, in the next update, allow all the avatar hats to be sold at Hat's Fantastic. It'd be really great to have souvenirs for each and every animal in the game

We write zoo year 30 and finally the entrance area is done 😂

@Nioell most of your pictures looks like photos, your work is so good!

I was trying to make a bit of the Australian zoo done by Rudi Renkammel, following his work on the kangaroo habitat on You Tube. Mine looks nothing like his haha, but it was great to learn some new ideas and techniques.

And my new mama kanga, Rya:

Her face kinda reminds me of Peter Rabbit lol.

Tried the Karst Mine timed scenario again, because I am an actual moron. Came a lot closer due to an optimized early game (started with popular red pandas instead of flamingos that just constantly get sick from their own filth), so I conversely didn't have to take out a loan which helped keep things moving during the mid game, and finally I realized I wasn't going to hit the guest requirement so I changed my ticket price to 0, thinking that might help. I'm not sure if it did, but what it did do was reverse my profit from exceeding the necessary $10k in one year to -$10k the next and I realized it too late to do anything about it.

I've now wasted two and a half hours of my life on this stupid thing. Does literally anybody have fun playing these the way they were intended?

So far I have never succeeded at that 🙈 Hopefully, finally...!
🙃 Also only managed to breed 1 with 4x100%. 2 Breeding Pairs would be nice at least but it'll already be a big Success to get a Partner for that one. Hopefully at least some of their Offspring would at least have similar Genetics

The Time Limits are too short in my Opinion. I'm only trying to finish them completely to get all Statues which can be a bit frustrating

I do enjoy them when I want to challenge myself to a race. And that's really what it is, you gotta stay focused on the bare minimum to make things run the entire time and not get lost in making things look pretty. It's a nice change of pace from time to time when you normally spent hours on building a single habitat and lose track of the whole management thing.

That being said, some really could use a few more minutes on the clock. The Europe one specifically was a pain even for me and I don't see myself replaying that one anytime soon. The Goodwin one could also use some tweeking because well, it's kinda hard to breed lions when not a single one shows up on the market within that time -.-

Also had a gander at the new tropical Oceania map given that's where I plan to build my next zoo - the mountains were bigger than I was expecting, but at least it looks a lot more like the rainforests of far north Queensland (where I'll set my zoo) or New Guinea than the original tropical map did. I've written up some rough ideas in regards to different sections of the zoo and the species within them:

Subject to change of course, the zoo is meant to be fairly small and lack a lot of big ticket/popular animals.

Entrance Area:
Capybara
Colombian White-faced Capuchin
Axolotl [E]

South-east Asia:
Siamang
Asian Small-clawed Otter
Sun Bear
Binturong
North Sulawesi Babirusa
Indian Peafowl

Temperate Australia House:
Platypus
Koala
Common Wombat
Eastern Blue-tongued Skink [E]
Common Death Adder [E]

Reptile Realm:
Aldabra Giant Tortoise
Galapagos Giant Tortoise
American Alligator
Spectacled Caiman
Green Iguana [E]
Gila Monster [E]
Boa Constrictor [E]
Yellow Anaconda [E]
Western Diamondback Rattlesnake [E]

Little Africa:
Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur
Ring-tailed Lemur
Egyptian Fruit Bat [E]
Fennec Fox
Cheetah
Meerkat
Nyala
Common Ostrich

North Australian Safari:
Red Kangaroo
Dingo
Wild Water Buffalo
Southern Cassowary
Komodo Dragon
Saltwater Crocodile
Eastern Brown Snake [E]
Giant Burrowing Cockroach [E]

The last zoo I worked on before going on my hiatus from the forum over a year ago was also set in north Queensland, but I never got much further than a few entrance habitats there and now that there's a more suitable map there's no better time to try again.
I've finished up uni for the year (although I'm heading out to do volunteer fieldwork this week so it's not like I have loads of time lol), and so I've tried to make a start on this zoo (which I've now labelled Hinterland Zoo, the same as my old Queensland zoo). However, after two attempts at playing Planet Entrance and struggling to find a style I was happy with, I decided I would do the thing where I prepare a bunch of blueprints first to both get a feel for the architectural theming of the zoo and to speed up the building process once I actually get started.

Today I started by building a set of three different iron sheds - one large, one medium-sized and one small. In-game I'll mainly use them to hide several staff buildings, but "lore-wise" they'd be for storage purposes. I thought this would be a fairly simple way to start, but detailing several boxes of corrugated iron can take more work than expected - the large shed is made up of 250+ pieces.

Once the sheds were done, I made a pair of quick shade structures (once again, large and small). I'm liking the use of deep red for the corrugated iron roofing here, which will probably remain consistent throughout the zoo.

I've got a lot more plans for simple scenery, animal shelter and staff building blueprints, including a lot of wooden buildings based primarily on Queenslander architecture - struts, verandas and all.

Looks really nice. Luckily I won't need to play Planet Entrance for too long when my PC works again because I'll restart my japanese Zoo. Only need to research the Parts of the awesome Entrance Building and play Planet City and Planet Parking 🙃
Can't wait to see that Zoo when you properly start it👍🇦🇺
